FULL TIME: Blackburn Rovers 1 Hull City 0

COLIN Kazim-Richards' goal gave Blackburn Rovers victory over Hull City tonight.

The Turkish international followed up his goal at Ipswich on Saturday with the winner in the 77th minute at Ewood Park.

The match was watched by a crowd of 13,562 – Rovers’ lowest attendance for a league game for almost 20 years – with co-owners Venkatesh and Balaji Rao in the stands.

Kazim-Richards found the side netting early on but Paul Robinson had to parry from Nick Proschwitz at the other end, with Abdoulaye Faye heading over.

Rovers substitute Bruno Ribeiro saw his effort saved by Ben Amos after the interval before the breakthrough arrived.

Nuno Gomes did well to take a cross on his chest and his shot was charged down, with Kazim-Richards on hand to fire home after a scramble.

Rovers: Paul Robinson, Bradley Orr, Scott Dann, Gael Givet, Marcus Olsson, Jason Lowe, Dickson Etuhu, Danny Murphy, Fabio Nunes (Nuno Gomes 62), David Dunn (Bruno Ribeiro 62), Colin Kazim-Richards (Morten Gamst Pedersen 85). Subs not used: Jake Kean, Grant Hanley, Paulo Jorge, Edinho.

i believe the sports correspondence for the mirror has discovered that our latest bid for rhodes has been declined again.we desperately need a quick classy striker as soon as possible because it was obvious today without hoilett we are clueless on how to break a defence down.

1-0 and I don't care how we got it. Its been ages since we had a 1 niler. If we managed to keep a clean sheet then it has to be a bonus. Please can we have some more 1-0 games.2-0 would be better but hey, a win is a win. I'm just gonna enjoy it.

By all accounts yet another dull, negative, uninspiring, inept performance. May be being a bit harsh because all I wanted before the game was a win and a clean sheet. At the same time I want the same as the majority - A CHANGE OF MANAGER. Why is he using conservative tactics at best at home against a team like Hull. Probably understand it (sort of) if he does the same on Saturday against Leicester.

Not going to shout out the obvious, it was plain to see for anyone that attended the match. Happy with the 3 points, which will be useful if we ever get a football manager capable of achieving promotion.

Listened on 5live, we were described as lacklustre and lacking ideas. Typical Kean team then. It sounded very quiet at Ewood. The happy-clappers need to make less noise on here and more noise at the games.

3 points is 3 points and this season will see plenty of these uninspiring games as teams come to Ewood intent on taking something away. We did lack someone who could unlock the Hull defence until Gomes came on; he hardly wasted a ball and showed great spatial awareness. Leicester will be a totally different proposition though. Is the Rhodes deal finally dead?

Say hello to mid table mediocrity, better learn to deal with it as that is where you belong, I see the debt collectors have moved in on behalf of Bumley as Chicco never paid his bar tab. A spokesman said the £13.50 will come in handy for howe in the transfer market. I must admit, at least you came on here spouting bollax as usual, unlike all the other sheep dippers who are up to their spuds in some lamb or sister somewhere sulking at being lower than us again. Natural order resumed. Even with the worst manager in living memory, we are better than you maggots.

Uninspiring 3 points. You could say that this is how teams win promotion, through getting 3 points when not playing well.... but when have we EVER played well under Kean bar against Man Utd & Arsenal??
We had hardly any shots on goal and we got lucky this time. I cannot see any more than mid table if we play like this all season. This may just prolong our misery... ie Kean in charge :(

this was a very important and a very a good win (any win is good) but to win the first home game of the season was absolutely vital for the club.

This makes the point at Ipswich look very good also now (especially as Ipswich won away at Watford last night).

Hope KR is ok, we are pretty short on strikers right now and he really looks like the real deal - loved his' kung-fu' corner flag kick after his goal!

Just need to sign another striker and a defender and we are well placed to push for a return to the prem!

David Dunn is done time to put out to the night clubs and curry houses
Orr, Dann Lowe are no better than Sunday pub players.
The two Portuguese players looked good.
Were will we get income from this season? no sponsors, nearly every advertising hording around the ground bare & a very mediocre crowd who did not enjoy a very dull game
If Leicester city had scouts at the game tonight we are in for a defeat this weekend.

tbh, we have a promotion guarantee-ing squad which could easily dominate this league and get automatic promotion back to the big leagues, even with a league 2 manager and that's the frustrating part.

I'm getting worried at my own health because there's a part of me that is actually starting to think Shebby would be a better alternative at the moment!

Then again, a mannequin would be a better alternative to that bald airhead at the moment.. Christ, you would have thought watching football as much Kean must have done, he would have some idea about formation and tactical play...grrrr!

He truly is the master of incompetence> According to two national papers, he is unconcerned as to what the fans think, and after last nights dynamic performance, he probably thinks we have done enough to saunter back into the top flight. For gods sake, all the reports stress Rovers continued mundane performance, lack of flair or failing to trouble the opposition. All that sounds familiar, especially with the droning ,mind numbingly imbecilic comments we have come to loathe about keano (not). He states ''another couple of good results and the fans will be happy''. What good results have we had to date. One where keans apathy towards strategy, gave away an own goal, losing two points on the opening day, and last night where we put on a stupendously average battle to scrape a valuable and possibly championship winning 1:0 victory. We are fighting to get into the top flight again. After the first two games, all I see is the start of another bullsh*t season by mouth almighty.. I love the club, I am totally behind the lads, but I am sick of our lads being led by the same old donkey who could not get a job on blackpool beach, or would probably not be fit enough to get into a tin of 'winalot'....... because he does'nt!!!!! KEAN OUT.......Come on Venkys, look at the signs, listen to the fans who love the club, get this muppet out NOW!

By all accounts from my ext door neighbour to the local and national press this was a p!ss poor game with the lowest attendance for years, apparently rows and rows of empty seats, but we won,

Says more about our national game going downhill than anything else, LT reports plenty of Kean our chants (well done to those who went).

Another plus it shows our illustrious owners at the ground in the LT, so they to are seeing the sh!te we watched last year, hoping to hear Shebby talking about sacking Kean after all the above is pointed to the Venky boys.

I hope the owners present at last nights game were not fooled by the result. One swallow does not a summer make.
According to all reports the performance did not justify the result. In other words it was probably home advantage that won it for us. The performance was dire. One up front at home? Nothing changes, he has not got a clue! Attendance as low as when the stadium was being rebuilt!

Get him out NOW!

Morst The 88th Min Heartbreaker of Dingles! says...

Lowest gate for 20 years (and that was when Uncle Jack was rebuilding the ground so capcity was limited and sold out!) and the paltry sub 10,000 Rovers fans present (minus away fans, Agnew's fantasy fans and ST's not present) still sang Kean Out and 1-0 and we want Kean out.
.
Now Shebby do you understand the extent of the damage done to this club by Kean and how much he has alienated every fan?
.
Kean Out then we can start rebuilding the club - its the ONLY way.

alan brazil was a total disgrace this morning
1) blackburn were a nothing club until jack walker arrived (not to the town and its supporters it wasn't)
2) now that he has gone we have to accept it (jack has been dead for over 10 years and we accept it
3) fans should get behind the team (they do - its kean that they have an issue with)
4) if they dont like it they should stay away (10,000 did and then you slagged the moff for not going)
5) kean is the manager to take them up (why? - and you backed him all through last season and when we finally got relegated you admitted he was out of his depth)
6) blackburn rovers has an excellent chance of automatic promotion this season (what do you base this on? - we cant defend, we have a manager who is tactically inept, we are unfit)

alan brazil is clearly in the kean fan club - he is a member of the drunken scottish oaf loudmouth git society - and if anybody wants to see what else he has in common with his buddy steve:

Let's just remind the dingle when they talk about attendances that their average gate for 86/87 season was 2800. That's AVERAGE, which was boosted by a 17000 gate in last game of season. They were pulling less than 20000 around Christmas. Obviously we can't predict what our attendances would be in the bottom tier as WE HAVE NEVER BEEN IN IT!
The sad tw*ts even produced a replica programme to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the infamous Orient game.
That says a lot for the bunch of under-achieving wan*ers, that they are proud to have avoided falling into oblivion by the skin of their teeth. What it does explain though is why they're such a jealous bunch of tiny brained 6 fingered inbreds. Must be difficult to live 10 miles away from a place that boasts the only town team to ever win the Premiership. No wonder they spend longer on our forums than they do being interested their own dog 5hit club!

I just think our sides under Kean lack passion.I was bored for long periods and found myself texting instead of watching. Dunn and Murphy are both past their sell by dates and it showed with no pace in central midfield there was no way we could break down a strong Hull defence until Gomes came on and showed some classy touches it really shows that quality counts. The young Portugese winger is not ready for the first team he looked lost,Lowe is just not up to it and Orr could not ger forward so a right winger is a must.I cannot see us getting near the top unless we have better organisation and team selection also motivation seems lacking as only the new players seem to put any real effort in to the game.

These idiots the Venkys come in and buy a great club; they know nothing about football; they arrogantly ignore all those who do and who have Rovers best interests at heart; they fire an excellent manager in BFS and replace him with a laughing stock; they then manage to add Shabby, an even bigger clown who is even less qualified to be associated with the club; and it's downhill all the way. Whatever Venky's motives have been they cannot have included showing themselves up as a family of utterly inept fools who have unfailingly made the worst of possible choices at each decision. VENKY'S OUT! KEAN OUT! ROBBERS OF PENSIONERS OUT! (What sort of people do the Venky's surround themselves with?)

The Rovers fans that stayed away last night got us the leading headlines in the news...the lowest crowd since the early nineties was the headline in most papers and on SKY....

The Rovers that went (around 12 thousand Rovers fans) well fair play to them too as they certainly also made their feelings known as the chants of Kean OUT echoed around the empty stadium.

The Rao Brothers saw the situation as it really is at last - they saw how many fans stayed away and then they saw how the fans that did attend only want one thing - Kean OUT - even when we are winning.

The message cannot have been any plainer for them.
Now they need to report back to Mum Desai and get her to act on this immediately. No talk of Kean having 3 losses or 7 games or any kind of targets. Just sack him. Now.

The win and the 4pts gained will give a new manager a very sound platform to take us forward.....

Lowest gate since two sides of the ground were closed for reconstruction and will probably get lower if they continue letting Kean play at football managers. His poor, boring, out-of-position, defensive tactics at home delivered by unenthused substandard and past- it players is not "a product" that will entice anybody back to Ewood. Two shots on target out of three and a scabby scrambled goal.

Venkys retention of the champion BSr just doesn't make any footballing or business sense.

KEAN OUT

If I had my way then Kean would have been sacked a long time ago. However, I thought there were some grounds for optimism last night:

Robinson - two great saves showed that he is up for the fight this season.

Etuhu - looked head and shoulders above the Hull midfield. Played well and looks like there is room for improvement.

Murphy - was a bit off target with his passing but I though there were some signs of a promising partnership developing between him and Etuhu.

Kazim-Richards - looked hungry for the ball and showed good technique. 2 goals in his first 2 games is a great return for someone who has just joined the club. He probably has more improvement to come and could be a great player at this level.

Nuno Gomes - looked like a proper centre forward when he came on and showed some good touches, including the lay off which led to the goal. Maybe he was on the bench in an attempt to keep him fresh, given that we have 3 games in a week.

I think it is unrealistic to expect a team with so many new faces, and especially a new centre midfield, to gel straight away. I think that there is hope that we can be a dominant side in this division once the team have 10-15 games under their belt.

On a flip side, Dunn looked like he's put on another stone. Unless he can get fitter then surely his appearances should be limited to coming off the bench.

Yes it was a bit quiet. You could barely hear the Kean out chants. Us Happy Clappers sang a lot louder with RTID and other more appropriate songs but you wouldn't know that being a plastic protest whinger
Any way we won, kept a clean sheet against an admittedly poor Hull side who came to shut up shop and nearly succeeded. It is worth noting that it was obvious that we needed to get Nunes and Dunny off as they were not in the game and that we needed another man up with CKR
Suprisingly in good time SK made the changes, brought on Gomes and Bruno, Marcus was then free to bomb on and Gomes made the difference up top, looking very good. So the tactically inept one got it right this time. Will it last, ?

let's see..meanwhile to chant Kean out at the ground during a game is so stupid and gives our critics like the Brazil nut more ammo.

Get him out NOW!
The problem now is they will look very foolish if they do, as he has gained 4 out of 6 pts, that is not a credible platform to sack a manager on.
They have said what is past is past, so no referral to previous performance possible.
I am afraid they will have to sit tight until the points tally starts to significantly drop Were the 'tipping point' is is anybodies guess, nd you can pick your own. However, only the owners can determine this,so its a case of letting them get on with it and what will be, will be.

A win is a win is a win, I guess.

From my house the crowd did sound subdued.

I didn't listen or watch anything last night pal just caught the end scoreline.

Such a crying shame that the win isn't properly celebrated with all matters at hand.

Interesting point but. If they can't or won't sack him during an 18 month run of dire results then perhaps using their twisted logic they WILL sack him during a run of collecting points. Or is that just wishful thinking? Anyway after last nights result the owners present at the match will be under no illusions as to the enormity of the task ahead. Also they are now fully aware of the distaste the fans have for Kean, if they weren't aware before. The stay aways have also made their point very forcefully.

Did Telegraph get an interview with Venkys last night despite the fact they disappeared from their seats long before the end?

Like many other fans they saw a similar Rovers performance to last season great possession in our own half but little threat except when Olsson bombed forward down the wing but no support in the box for Kazim until the subs came on after 70 mins. As ever vulnerable to switching off in defence and Robinson again saved the day

Etuhu was quality but ran out of steam towards the end, Lowe out of position little threat but worked hard. Orr in the team for his support of the Manager as must have been David Dunn who was even further off the pace than last season.

What really got to me was Kazim was struggling for 5 minutes before coming off with a knock and the bench did nothing until he got another tackle which could have put him out of action for weeks where is the professionalism?

So same tactics just an inferior opposition who failed to take their chances - not all will be as generous. If Venkys believe Rovers will be promoted they are living in a fools paradise

I heard this and was livid. He was saying Rovers fans were just moaning, that Rovers have no right to be in the Prem and we should get behind the manager. No Rovers fan says we have a right to be in the Prem but the fact is we were an established half decent, steady away team in the Prem under Williams / Big Sam and what the Venkys and Kean have done to Rovers is disgusting. The media don't give a toss about looking into the truth of what has and is happening at Blackburn because they don't care about Blackburn. Our team and club have been destroyed and media think that fan protests are out of order. It's a disgrace!!!

Ah, I was wondering how long it would take before some bitter dingle trogladyte would come up with the old 'Rovers are responsible for all the high wages/transfer fees in football' line.

How predictable. Ok dingle, so what you're saying is, if Walker hadn't had invested in Rovers, all transfers wages would be nice and low. In all of world football. No other team would ever have thought of paying big money for players?

Really?

Nothing to go with the millions injected into the game by sky then?

All Jack Walker's fault?

Please explain your position, I could do with a laugh.

Bet you can't.

Just another bitter dingle.

Reason 3 - " I will never step foot in there again until Venkys and Kean have gone "

Reason 4 - " I will never go on again until they sack Kean, Venky and Hendry "

Why is it burnley supporters are obsessed with rovers attendances at matches? I can remember colne dynamos getting the odd gate bigger than burnley.also, when burnley won the league championship back in the early 60's what was your average attendance ?well,I can tell you that it was several thousand less than the rovers who finished in 7th or 8 th place on the league.also,in your last season in the old division one you had only 13,000 watching your beloved team play arsenal.something that would never happen at ewood.

The last time both Rovers and Burnley were in this division, Rovers drew a higher gate than Burnley against each opponent in the division regardless of the time of year when the respective games were played.

This was in season 2000/01 as Burnley were playing at second tier level (after promotion) for the first time in over 20 years, when attendaces are normally at their best. At the same time Rovers were playing their second season at this level, following a dissapointing first season after relegation from the premier league and without having suffered massive drops in attendances.

This makes a mockery of your assertion that the current drop in attendances is due to the missing "1995 plastic fans" when any sane person knows the truth. Please stick to facts and not nonsensical opinions.

We should admire you. No,really we must. I bet your sat there all excited now aren't you? with your glass of milk rocking backwards and forwards, gigling and dribbling with anticipation of what your going to find out next about Rovers.Hope your family don't find that book under your bed.
