FULL-TIME: Cardiff City 2 Blackburn Rovers 0

OUT Cardiff City's Anthony Gerrard (third right) scores his sides second goal OUT Cardiff City's Anthony Gerrard (third right) scores his sides second goal

BLACKBURN Rovers have crashed out of the Carling Cup after losing to Championship side Cardiff City - a result that puts even more pressure on under-fire boss Steve Kean.

Kenny Miller sent the Welsh club on their way in tonight's quarter-final clash with an 19th minute opener, and Anthony Gerrard doubled Cardiff's lead three minutes into the second-half.

Rovers were on the back foot when Miller opened the scoring for the Welsh side, the striker collecting a pass from Aron Gunnarsson before firing through Mark Bunn's legs.

Miller went close to doubling Cardiff's lead but was thwarted by Scott Dann's goal-line clearance.

David Dunn almost equalised for Rovers with a spectacular 30-yard volley, but Cardiff keeper Tom Heaton kept out the midfielder's strike.

Gerrard doubled Cardiff's advantage just after the interval, heading into an empty net after Bunn failed to collect a corner.

Kean threw on Jason Roberts and Yakubu to add extra firepower, but Rovers could not find a way back into the match.

From the BBC... 2046: You can tell a lot about a man from his choice of jackets, and Steve Kean is obviously confident he is going nowhere as he's just strode out of the tunnel in a belter of a new coat. He's splashed the cash there which is not the antics of a Scotsman fearing the sack.

Keep him warm that when he's out on the street

You really think we need the Swansea game to be able to make a judgement on Kean.

For me it was obvious that it would turn to crap after our pitiful performance against a one-man Blackpool side at home.

When we didn't get rid of him in the summer I had already started preparing for Championship football in 2012/13.

Avoid games and hit their pockets, the Indians clearly have no intention of developing this club. Those fans who refuse to protest and still feel that venkys should remain need to have a long hard think about what is now certainly going to happen. Additionally I don't see the free fall ending in the championship...

Just got back from work, wish I'd never looked at the score now, We've got to do something about this clown.

Came up with an idea for a protest chant earlier on, was trying to think of something anyone could sing, and was clean enough to be broadcast live or on highlights or printed in match reports:

(To the tune of winter wonderland).

Venky's Why(yyy) Arent You Listening
He's The wor(rrrr)st in our History
We'll be down before long
Singing this song
Trapped in a Steve Kean Nightmare.
OUT!
OUT!
OUT!
and so on..

From every home Section combined with a visual protest (maybe waving the black and yellow scarves, or any of the other ones people have been talking about)

It'd hopefully get some media attention and reinforce the message to Venky's that we want him out.

What do you all think?

Outclassed and outfought by a Championship side - we fail to score - can it really get any worse.

I feel for those supporters who have paid good money all year to be treated to a performance like that when you are one game away from a Cup Semi Final - absolute disgrace

If Kean does not have the integrity to walk away now frrom Ewood Park - judge me on my team was his comment - we have - its poor its lacking in confidence and it needs a new Manager TONIGHT if we are to stand any chance of retrieving a dire scenario.

If Vebkys do nothing now we know they have not bought Rovers for the football - they will be despised as much if not more than the Manager

This result against Cardiff is the final humiliating insult SK has brought upon the good name of Blackburn Rovers FC. Is it not time for SK to resign immediately and allow the appointment of a more experienced, inspirational, professional manager to take over. The last twelve months will be heralded across the football world as one of the greatest examples of organisational mismanagement in the history of professional sport.

I think the Venky's have too much pride to get rid of him. There is either something seriously amiss, and the motives are financial, or they are utterly deluded.

What the hell has happened with Vuckcevic? He's hardly featured since being bought, how the bloody hell does Roberts and Blackman get ahead of him in the team? Beggars belief.

At other clubs, they sign players and play them. Not with Kean. For some explicable reason any signing has to be given 6months before featuring. And Vuck is not a young lad, he's a seasoned international who held his own against England last month.

Tonights score, utterly predictable I'm afraid. We're incapable of defending under Kean, even if we play teams that have had goal scoring problems, they score 2-3 against us easy. The guy is a kit-man masquarading as a Premier League manager. I would be ASHAMED to have taken a cool payrise to £1.5m if I were him.

Have some feckin' dignity Steve. You've already hit the lottery and got a lot of money out of our club, if you have any semblance of love for our club then leave and give us the best possible chance of staying up.

According to golden boy Kean he has no problem walking the streets of Blackburn. Everyone tells him how they're positive and "behind what they're doing".

Then he goes home and reads through the 100s of 'positive emails from supporters'.

Just read this on BBC - this is quite reassuring to see he's lost some of the the players:

Kevin Ratcliffe on Radio 5 live: "The thing for me is that Cardiff looked a lot fitter. They got around quicker, showed good energy levels and kept it going throughout. It was really poor from Blackburn. One or two players were not interested and perhaps were not giving the manager what he needed when he's under pressure. The problems were there straight from kick-off and Cardiff exploited it. 2-0 and it could have been more."

Blackburn manager Steve Kean: "We're disappointed. We've got a big game in Wales at the weekend against Swansea so we made a few changes. We thought that team would be enough but full credit to Cardiff. I felt the second goal was a handball and we were expecting a foul. Possibly if we'd been a bit higher up the table we might have made less changes."

i think its really important that we look at the stats and take the positives out of tonight.....apart from the main stat (obviously) i thought that we put in a good performance tonight.
.
1) we have stopped (for a night) conceding 3
2) our keeper (no idea what he is called, but he looks good in training) only had two saves to make
3) it gave me a good look at the standard of championship clubs, so we will be read next
4) we were able to have a look at some fringe players
5) i thought we dealt well in difficult conditions
6) elimination now gives us a chance to build momentum in the league, where it really matters
7) its always difficult playing against an international team - so after tonight we will be ready for a welsh team on saturday
8) our discipline is getting better - none of our players got sent off tonight
9) the pies were nice
10) i still got paid last friday

Is it really possible that Venkys, as daft as they seem to be, will give this man more time and money to waste after tonight?

If he has not gone by Monday next week we may as well all give up because he is not going to leave at all.

He will be like Brian Kidd, who spent £23m to get us relegated and kept his job till we were almost bottom of the Championship the following season.

As fans it is more important to make a protest that will be heard in India on Saturday than supporting the team. I know that is a terrible thing to say but will be best for everyone in the long term, even the players. Trying to help this man win a game would be the worst thing for the club and the supporters.

How many more times must we shout - KEAN OUT before anyone who matters takes any notice of us.

doesn't matter if kean gets sacked or not the damage has been done, we have a very weak team that is not up to premiership stanard with zero creativity and players game after game making school boy errors resulting pathetic defending.

what high-class manager would want to work with this team i don't even think hughes or benitez could rescue us from this mess, relegation is certain when samba and rochina get poached in january .

really can think of a worst strike force than Roberts and goodwillie for this club to move forward we need to sell most of the squad and spend £100m in january and raise the wage bill, of course this will never happen when even season ticket holders are refusing to turn up.

waste of time boycotting or shouting venkeys and kean out, banners, planes etc the club is going to be playing in league 1 next year grow up and get used to it blackburn rovers has gone past the threshold of being saved.

we need to go on a serious constant points accumulating run something we have not managed since hughes was in charge says it all really.

I am sorry to say unless he goes by Monday we are down and I dont think it will stop there. Venky's just love all this publicity and are not going to kick Kean out as bad publicity is good publicity especially in marketing. They are trying to get there brand known in the UK and £25 million pound of advertising on TV would not get you far. This way they can **** our club up get all product awareness they need and then sell all our players when we get relegated. They have spent no money on players as promised and when you think we had over £30 million in sales of players in the summer they probably took a profit from that. They have also mortgage our gate receipts for the next two years, which covers the price they have paid for the club. In a nutshell they have had 12 months of free marketing earned a profit from it as well and will probably jump ship as soon as we are relegated. It would not surprise me if they sell all our youth players and our good senior players when we are relegated and sell the club for a £1 to some company. These owners dont give a toss about our club and are only interested in one thing that is making money on our down fall. So if any of you think that Steve Kean will be sacked you are dreaming. Why do you think they got rid of Big Sam, because he is not a YES man like Kean and stupid as Kean and cares about football, he would of worked out the Venkys and blown the whistle on them. The only way things will change is if we do something that makes the FA sit up and take notice so an investigation takes place.

Do you think for one moment they would give too hoots if we were in the same situation?

Lot's of Clarets fans have and had a great respect for Mr Jack Walker and what he done for that Club.

Kean admitted: ‘It is never nice if the fans are being negative but when you are focused on the game you can put it to the back of your mind.
‘It doesn’t affect me. We will get the lads out of the treatment room and work every day for a massive match against Swansea on Saturday.’

Whenever would we think that Swansea would be classed as a massive match

How you can comment on other Clarets posting on here and saying It's disrespectful is really beyond believe.

Do you think for one moment they would give too hoots if we were in the same situation?

Have you forgot about the plane flying over the Turf?

You voice your comments as you like but please don't quote on fellow Clarets comments and chastising just because you have your own thoughts regarding Rovers but keep them to yourself or at least just on their forum.

Lot's of Clarets fans have and had a great respect for Mr Jack Walker and what he done for that Club.

Time has moved on and they sold out to the Venky's. So this has nothing to do with time's gone by with Mr JW, this is now the present.

Under-pressure Blackburn manager Steve Kean admitted he had 'forfeited' their Carling Cup quarter-final against Cardiff in an effort to ensure his side are in the best shape for a series of crucial Barclays Premier League matches.

The above is taken from today's edition of the Daily Mail.

Now compare that from yesterday's article in the LT. (Below)

Asked if his side could win the Carling Cup, he said: “Yes, definitely.

“When you get this far, we have got a good tie and we’re scoring goals on the road.

“We’re playing a team that is in good form in the Championship so it’s going to be a tough tie, but we think we can progress.

“We’ve said all along that we’d like to go all the way and get to the final and try to win the competition.

To save our once great team now would require firstly a well paid big name manager with the promise of a big transfer budget in the January window to give us a prem class team capable of going unbeaten for most of the matches left to give us a chance of just staying up .Unfortunately venky's (or whoever really owns my club) have proved that they are only interested in milking the club and have no intention of putting any of their own money into the club.so as i see it they are more likely to let us get relegated after getting whatever they can for our few class players left, then pocketing the parachute payment to pay their "mortgage" off, then selling our club and all it,s assets off for whatever they can get as a final payday,God ,i hope i,m wrong.I hoped that by giving kean a new contract they were going to let him get a nice fat payoff from the new owners in January who will sack him(after vebky's sold Samba,Hoilet and possibly roch off before,of course) But,the depression i,m feeling over my teams demise is veering to the worst scenario i,m afraid).... 100% Rovers..0% kean...0% wanky;s .... 42 years a Blackburn Ender !!!!

Look it is apparent that it is all over for Rovers this season and relegation is almost certain. Our main aim now must be to rid ourselves of Kean and co. This and a dramatic change of style from the owners will allow a manager to start putting together a team to push for promation next season. Demonstrate for Kean out before the match, during the match and after the match at the weekend.

Oh how I hate this man(Kean) at the moment. Stone Island, like yourself, I seen what was coming months ago with this backstabbing clown and Venkies. Most of the posters on here know I've moved to Canada, and apart from recently, nothing has been highlighted regarding the unrest at Ewood. It Is now being noticed, but not on a big scale like the UK. But they are watching developements more now. And for that reason alone, I feel the time has come to protest throughout the game against Swansea regarding Kean & Co, because the whole match Is shown over here every week, and lots of Interest because of Hoilett. The world Is now watching with Interest, because one of my colleagues Is from Kansas in the U.S.A., and he even mentioned the trouble Rovers are facing at the moment. It's took along time, but people are starting to notice, so for that reason, we need to step up and be counted this weekend. And Stone Island, sing twice as loud for me pal. Relegated this season and most likely in administration next season when the Venkys put the club into administration.
-
The Premier League needs to be forced to put a thorough investigation into the what is going on. Our team on the pitch has already been turned into a poor championship side, and when we go down next season it will only be another relegation battle.
There is alot more pain to come for us I am afraid. Kean is just a puppet, if you change the puppet it does not change the puppet masters plan.

We have MASSIVE financial problems, all brought about by the Venkys purchase. The premier league passed this company as fit and proper to purchase our club. We need some answers from the premier league as to what exactly 'fit and proper' is.

The problem may lie with someone other than the Venkys. I am surprised that more fans have not raised what role has Jerome Anderson got and waht is he actually doing at Ewood anyway; a rather dark figure lurking in the background. An agent who sees this as purely a money making exercise; or is it he who is actually pulling the strings. After all football is a business and no longer the sport it was in the heyday of this fine club. The Venkys see the Rovers as a brand and this has a little or no connection with the ideals of the Blackburn Rovers of the past. The performance yesterday was appalling I am afraid and the players look disinterested, unfit both mentally and run down. I remember when Mark Hughes first took over and the team walked off at Stamford Bridge arguing amongst themselves and totally demoralised; Mark Hughes fixed it and the team improved and the club prospered.

Appoint a quality manager with the right CV and support him in Jan t/fer window and you can survive - but every minute you now delay you push us closer to relegation.
.
Saturday "Stand Up If You Want Kean Out" - unfortunately it has reached the point were it has to be done during the match.

I think QP did make a "serious bid" - £25m was £2m MORE than Venkys paid for it.

Since then they have seen revenues drop, we look like we're heading out of the EPL and Venkys have made some money out of player transfers so £25m seems more than fair - if you think they'll come back with a £35-40m offer then think again, these arabs are famous for buying at a "fair" price or will walk away (and who can blame them).

they couldnt remove those banners as it isnt a protest its just simply respecting a former manager!! ( also putting our voices out there to him we want him back)
