Blackburn Rovers blog: Which fans did Venky’s ask?

Blackburn Rovers blog: Which fans did Venky’s ask? Blackburn Rovers blog: Which fans did Venky’s ask?

It was only a fortnight ago I was posing the question of exactly what the Venky’s chairman had in mind when she promised that no decision affecting Blackburn Rovers would be taken against the wishes of the fans.

So when and where have Venky’s carried out their fans survey to justify the sacking of Sam Allardyce?

There again, if the leaders of our political parties can sign pledges that can be ripped up within weeks, why should we expect owners of football clubs to be as good as their word?

As it happens, if such a poll had been carried out Venky’s would have discovered that there were plenty of fans who would have supported their sacking of Allardyce on grounds that he was not playing the game in a positive, progressive or “pretty” enough manner.

As I’ve always acknowledged, Sam was not a manager to be loved even by those who, like myself, admired his ability to grind out results on very limited resources.

Let’s not forget that he never had a really bad run in his two years at the club and left without ever suffering more than two consecutive defeats.

He will, as his muse Alex Ferguson reminded us, be a hard act to follow.

If Sam never really won over the fans he seems to have been genuinely popular with the players, and even his detractors should acknowledge a huge debt of gratitude for how he took over a club seemingly destined for Championship obscurity, and delivered mid-table security.

For some fans, and seemingly for our new owners, that is not enough.

i think its the right choice, we have been a stepping stone for players and managers alike for years, and lets be honest thats all we were for Sam..... so why? when we have the chance to do it ourselves are we being slammed by media, players and managers? we needed Sam at a time when things were bleak and we did'nt mind what type of football was played but his job is now done, so why not get rid ? i was bored week in week out with some abysmal team selections and tactics...ya cant sell that kind of football anywhere nevermind India! onwards and upwards. lets get behind the lads saturday and ditch the negative vibe Sam so prominantly installed

oh here we go robbo, you aint got a clue, you think rovers were right to get shut, what a shambles! sam should have stayed till summer, then think about a new start, sams been doing well, was 13th, thats gd, you cant expect top 6, if you do ya a bigger loose than other doubters,
rovers could, or what if, been 6th 5th, past tence... every manager can say same, rovers are were they are, under these new owners, all fans have had from owners, is lies... no facts!

They never asked me, didn't come to my house and say, "Oh seeing as you're a Rovers supporter and loyalist we'd like to ask you if its okay to p*ss you off and thousands of others by doing something incredibly stupid, are you okay with this?" I'm almost getting fed up of seeing conflicting reports on SSN about what's going on. The clearly have either been badly adviced, or they're blinded by their own ego and stupidity.

Don't buy into all the lies and scaremongering from the sports media. I know we are all desperate for information but until the owners speak clearly and publicly to an acknowledged media source (like the BBC or yes even SKY) then we should wait and not prejudge their plans. They wnat what we all want surely for the Rovers - higher placings in the Prem, Cup inals, and yes Europe too. The reason the club has been sold is that we needed investment and the sooner the better. Without any investment we would have struggled to even keep a mid-table place moving forwards and lets not forget we are only 5 points above the relegation zone now. I am sick of seeing us struggling every season for safety. I want us to be a successful club again, a club that can challenge for things and not a club whose main priority is to avoid being relegated. Farewell Sam and Hello to the future.

That says, the chicken pluckers will sign some second rate players on free transfers, or on "LEASE" as they call it! Whoever comes in, i'm prepared to wager, that they are on the books of SEM/Kentaro.
