D-Day for Kean at Blackburn

STEVE Kean will have his Blackburn Rovers fate delivered to him tomorrow after being locked in talks for three hours with the club’s owners in India today.

The Rovers boss met with all four of the club’s owners at their Pune HQ where he is understood to have presented his case for being kept at the helm and his plan for the future.

Venky’s chairman Anuradha Desai, husband Jintendra and brothers Venkatesh and Balaji Rao were expected to discuss their thoughts before meeting again with Kean tomorrow.

Kean flys home on Friday and is expected to be told tomorrow whether he continues as Rovers boss. He is confident he will be remain in charge.

The exact nature of the talks were kept confidential, even from Venky’s advisers.

Venky’s sources have told the Lancashire Telegraph they are unsure whether club matriarch Desai will be persuaded by fellow co owners and advisers to finally ‘pull the trigger’.

Desai has been Kean’s sole staunch supporter within the club’s hierarchy in recent months after a run of disastrous results condemned Rovers to Premier League relegation.

She has continually been advised a change in manager is needed, with former deputy chief executive Paul Hunt even sending an email requesting his sacking before he himself was axed.

Having vented their anger towards Kean almost all season, supporters sent a petition to Desai on Tuesday demanding his sacking.

Kean was put under further pressure when a video was put on YouTube apparently showing him insulting former boss Sam Allardyce, a rant that has led to ‘Big Sam’ seeking legal advice.

Kean is understood to be suggesting candidates for a new management structure at Ewood Park, with press officer Paul Agnew reported as a possible contender.

It is understood the possibility of even moving Kean to another position has been considered, with a new manager then brought in either alongside or underneath him.

Should Kean be given the vote of confidence by the owners, it is understood there are a number of individuals keen to discuss their own futures at Ewood Park.

How can you keep a man with such little experience at a club and then have the cheek to bring in someone to takeover from him who will likely have more experience only to be rulled over by the bald one like some peverted king!

I remember another Scot, Moyes I think it was, correct me if I am wrong, sounding off against the abusive attitude and language of Rovers fans during a game earlier this season towards Kean whilst Keans family was there. Having watched the video of this £1.3 Millionaire a year guy seemingly bulling his way with fans of the club using foul and abusive language (note the fans are not swearing) in a public place against Sam Alladyce I hope Mr Moyes takes his comments back because if the video is a true representation I am appalled that this guy was paid to represent Blackburn Rovers and English football abroad and at home, rather than being a sober and outstanding representative for the town and club his attitude and stance is a professional disgrace, no wonder Ewood has lost its fan base, with this guy drink driving and his team mates guilty of violence on the streets no wonder I will not be renewing my season ticket or attending any matches, no wonder sportsmen like Robinson et al will want to leave, ( I will attend away games but not in the famous blue and white whilst this shower of idiots are in control)..Whilst I am on may I thank Paul Robinson, Chris Samba, Ryan Nelson, Givet, Salgado, Pederson, the Yak, Olsen, Formica and all those who will leave this summer for their for efforts It was sad and brought tears to some to see what used to be a grand and lovely occasion of great players like Tugey, Duff, Cole, players managers like Hughes and Souness and their little kids doing the end of season walkabout being altered to a brawl and myself being searched before the game...Kean Venkys you have indeed been very low, such very poor ambassadors and leaders for Blackburn. The drink driving charge, the worst run of results in the club's history, the relegation, the disgusting foul mouthed video are more than enough for him to be sacked immediately without a single penny in compensation. My heart bleeds, for all those loyal, deserving Blackburn Rovers supporters, who had to watch that rubbish this season. Probably the worst team ever to don a rovers shirt, coached and managed, by the worst and most incompetant person ever to be associated with Blackburn Rovers. Having been a loyal fan, since Nov 6th 1954 my first proud recollection is the 9-0 victory against Middlesborough, were a certain Mr Ugolini, the visitors goalie, got a bad back picking the ball out of the net. I have had many happy times since then watching my team, and hopefully will again sometime soon. I hope that like the Phoenix, we can rise from the ashes of relegation, and become the team that can deservedly call themselves Blackburn Rovers, and in the process make everyone who supports them, as proud as I was, that day in 1954. When I fell in love with our team.

@Donmac46, point of detail: none of the team have been donning Rovers shirts. They have been wearing misconfigured Indian replicas. Notwithstanding that this action has hexed the club it will also provide some explanation for the wayward passing. Venkys don't give a toss about our traditions, they've done the same to the shirt for next season: League One here we come.

Mrs Decides had brilliant idea to have half team play in blue shirts and half team play in white shirts: much cheaper option.

Two days ago it looked like he was going. Yesterday, the consensus was that he would be staying. Now, they are going to think it over. Surely, well, you would have thought that they would have looked at all the evidence and made a decision before this meeting started. Why, let him make a pitch to save his job? This is all very suspicious to me. What on earth will he be telling them – that all our top players will be staying, that we will go up as champions, that we will win a cup this year. For goodness sake his entire Rovers managerial career has been built on garbage and false promises.
My gut feeling is telling me that they are just trying to make it look like that they (Venky’s) have thought long and hard before NOT sacking Kean. Even if they did sack him, I have zero faith in their abilities to get a decent manager in. They have not got a clue what/who a good manager is, and even if they did - nobody in their right mind would work for Venky’s atm. What a mess!
I have had an idea – why don’t we try and get them to change the song that the team runs out to. My vote goes to: queen - I want to break free; or if we were to be ironic: queen - we are the champions. They wouldn’t do it, but it would give them more grief and embarrassing headlines (if thousands of fans wrote in asking for it).

Getting rid of Kean will only solve the managerial issue (it would be a start) The problem is also the Venky's the have proved inept at running a football club proven by their many decision since they took over. Sacking a manager they knew little about(forget who he was that is irrelevant) getting rid of our chairman of many years etc etc. The sacking of Kean would certainly be start but where would these clowns go from there???????? Who would they appoint and to be honest, who in their right mind would want to manage a club that was revered 18mths ago to one that now appears to be in utter chaos and turmoil.

Jolly Jerry transfers all the players out and brings in the full Pune FC squad, taking full commission on each transaction.

More than anything or anyone, they are the problem and by 'pleading' with them somewhat legitimises them, IMO.

Surely Venky's can not redeem what they've done to this club by just sacking a useless manager. As someone pointed out above, they'll simply install cheap puppet number 2.

Just seen one of Cryer's tweets and it appears if Kean stays alot of people want out. I don't get it. Nobody will work with the fool and still they are likely to persist with him. Even if he is moved to another position he will still be a negative influence

I reckon venkys are worried about sacking him incase he pulls the plug on what has really been going on been going on behind the scenes. Breaking news from Pune
Mrs Desai is to make a decision on Steve Kean’s future on Thursday 17th May, after a day of lengthy talks, today Wednesday.
Several issues are troubling her.
1. Falling attendances at Ewood Park.
2. Rock bottom season ticket sales.
3. The 5000 signature petition from Rovers fans for Kean’s removal.
4. The You-Tube video which has now had over 500,000 hits worldwide. And shows Kean acting like a foul mouthed lout.
5. Sam Allardyce’s pending possible legal action which may engulf Venky’s.
6. Copies of Andy Cryer’s comments decrying Kean in the Lancashire Telegraph.

Mrs Desai still holds a ‘torch’ for Kean and wants to retain him, strangely relegation does not over concern her. He is under pressure however from members of her family to get rid of Kean.
What should concern Rovers fans is that she is taking so long over it.
Here are Venky’s email addresses if you wish to try and help her with her decision.

KEAN IS THE KING OF EWOOD !!
Steve Kean has manoeuvred himself into a position of almost absolute power at Ewood Park, following the sacking of deputy chief executive Paul Hunt.
Hunt was sacked following the leaking of a letter he had sent to Rovers owner Mrs Anaurdha Desai, back in December. Hunt recommended the sacking of Kean plus a 10 point plan for the way forward. The letter also laid bare Rovers precarious financial position and the lack of investment by the Venky group.
Mrs Desai made known the contents of the letter to Kean, sending him a copy.
Kean was seething and immediately started plotting his revenge.
You cross Kean at your peril; we are talking about a very devious man. Just ask John Jensen and several departed players. Indeed ask Sam Allardyce, John Williams or Tom Finn all victims of Kean’s devious plotting and manipulation of Mrs Desai. Even the most obvious fraud will manage to hoodwink a few but Kean’s hold on Mrs Desai is unbelievable, he really has her fooled and has let her down big time.
Kean, a jobbing coach, has really tapped into a rich vein of income that he could only have dreamed of, his complicity of Mrs Desai is total.
Kean will do anything to preserve his 1.3 million per annum salary plus perks. Kean is nothing more than a coach who got lucky. A coach’s income is pretty low in footballs pecking order.
Paul Hunt’s letter was allegedly leaked by Kean to all media outlets to cause embarrassment to Mrs Desai and her family and do maximum damage to Hunt and the club.
Kean wants ally Paul Agnew, Rovers press officer, installed in Paul Hunts job so giving him an impregnable power base. Other victims on Kean’s hit list include director of football Simon Hunt, financial director Karen Silk and PA Lindsey Talbot plus he also has in his sights the removal of Rovers / Lancashire telegraph reporter Andy Cryer and replaced by someone Kean ‘friendly’. Cryer has become a cult hero to Rovers supporters in his attempts to get Kean removed.
Kean is so devious he does not care who falls victim to his cunning (inc; Reg).
Nick Harris of sportingintelligence
.co.uk and Mail on Sunday journalist’ let the cat out of the bag’ by issuing a statement that Paul Hunt did not leak the infamous letter.
NO IT WAS LEAKED BY KEAN, (Allegedly).
He will do anything to preserve his new found riches.
Venkatesh Rao issued a statement saying Paul Hunt had been sacked in a cost cutting exercise. So that’s ok then, if you believe that, you will believe anything. I wonder what reduction Kean is going to take in his salary for his failures.

MY APOLOGIES TO JEROME ANDERSON
May I publically offer my sincere apologies to Jerome (the man who ruined Blackburn Rover) Anderson.
For the past eighteen months I have consistently accused Anderson (above) of being responsible for the sacking of proven manager Sam Allardyce by recommending to Mrs Desai that she sack Big Sam.
It now transpires I was wrong all along. Allardyce was sacked because the Venky’s thought him to be a ‘f…..g’ crook as revealed by Steve Kean in the infamous You-Tube video recorded in Hong Kong last summer, so Anderson is off the hook by virtue of Kean’s ‘words of wisdom’ revealed in an unguarded moment.
No doubt Big Sam will have his day in court and possibly extract a small fortune from both Kean and the Venky’s. Good luck to him.
Meanwhile Jerome Anderson can offer a smug rebuke saying it wasn’t down to him as he has said all along.
It has to be said that in the video Kean comes across as uncouth foul mouthed lout and not becoming of a Premiership manager.
We don’t want this man at Ewood park a moment longer.
If he stays, my prediction of attendances down to 12,000 will be sadly way off the mark. Rovers will be lucky to muster a1000 spectators.
THINK ABOUT IT MRS DESAI !
Reg
Footnote:
Will Anderson now jettison his client Steve Kean so as not to become implicated with Kean’s accusations? if not is he just as guilty by association.

REG IN BREIF
1. ARE ROVERS FOR SALE? Yes they are, do not believe the Venky’s denials. £30m of anyone’s money will buy the club according to Alan Nixon of the Sunday People Sport.
2. LEARN FROM ASTON VILLA MRS DESAI.
Aston Villa owner Randy Lerner has sacked manager Alex Mcleish following demands that he go from Villa fans. Lerner realises that without supporters you have not got a club, so acted accordingly. Unlike Kean Mcleish kept Villa in the premiership and demands for his sackings were nowhere near those of the Rovers fans. Take note Mrs Desai !
3. APOLOGY. When are the fans to receive an apology from Kean and the owners for plunging us into relegation? When is Mrs Desai going to apologise for sacking Sam Allardyce? Until then bridges cannot be built.
4. COLIN HENDRY. It is reported Kean is to recruit ex Rover Colin Hendry onto the coaching staff. Not that Kean will take any notice of him, it is purely a PR exercise on Kean’s behalf. We will not be fooled.
5. YOU-TUBE. The infamous Kean video has had 400,880 hits as at the 16th May 3pm. everyone can now see what a uncouth foul mouthed creep of a manager Blackburn Rovers employ.
6. NICK BARMBY. Hull City have sacked manager Nick Barmby following his revelations that he could only play certain players at certain times due to financial restrictions also he complained about the new owners lack of investment.
Any chance of Kean doing that about Venky’s?
NO - He values his £1.3 million per annum too much to have any principles.
7. TIMES OF INDIA. Want to make your views known to Mrs Desai? She does’nt read the Lancashire Telegraph, watch Sky Sports, read the British Press, or look at any fans websites including this one. Let's assume that Kean did have some financial input, but now realises that the press and the supporters wont allow him to continue. How do we sell and make the most money at this juncture?

Is Wigan not in Lancashire?
Not since 1974
Oops. My bad - didn't realise Greater Manchester had stolen it as well. Well its Lancashire at heart I suppose.
Liverpool, Warrington, Manchester, Salford, Wigan, Bolton and one third of the Lake District are all in Lancashire.

Lancashire county borders did not change in 1974.

Lancashire county COUNCIL boundaries changed.

In 1974, new 'administrative counties' were created, but these did not affect the boundaries of the ancient and geographical counties and the boundaries of Lancashire remained unaltered.

However, because the media began to refer to these new 'administrative counties' instead of continuing to use the names and identities of the geographical counties, some people were misled into thinking that they had been moved over night into a new county.

Maps represent administrative areas, not geographical areas.

Blackburn is no longer administered by Lancashire County Council, therefore, on maps Blackburn no longer appears in Lancashire.

Infact, the entity of Blackburn no longer appears, what you see is a 'place' called 'Blackburn with Darwen'.

Unfortunately, Wikipedia editors refuse to accept these simple facts. But that is Wikipedia for you.

The counties of this country are an integral part of our history and culture and it is essential that their true identity is preserved.

Until 1974 the identities of most of the ancient and geographical counties of the United Kingdom had remained essentially unaltered for over a thousand years.

Very little needs to be done to undo the damage to this county identity that has occurred since 1974, but unless steps are taken now, we run the risk of losing this very important part of our heritage.

You can help by always referring to the geographical county in which you live, not the administrative county.

Our county is called Lancashire, not Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Merseyside or part of Cheshire.

D-day for Kean at Rovers........it's a joke, if anybody carried out their job in such a way as Mr Kean has then they would of been sacked along time ago. The proof is now in the pudding, King Kenny has been sacked after a top ten finish (which Kean promised us but didnt deliver) two cup finals (which Kean promised us but didn't deliver) and a win rate of 46%, our deluded so called MANAGER got us relegated, sold one of our best defenders and had the audacity to slag off Big Sam. Yes bburnrover, bit it is not a matter of opion, it is a matter of fact.

I find it mind blowing taht our own national media cannot get such simple, salient facts correct - about their own country.

I don't blame people for being confused; look at how people have been disinformed regarding what is happening at BRFC by a 99 per cent ignorant media.

I am beginning to think, and have been since close of office hours India time yesterday, that Kean will not be sacked by the arrogant Mama Desia and that they will try and ride this out.

With each passing hour, that looks increasingly the case.

I hope i am wrong.

There is very little chance of any announcment today. It will be at least Friday before an official announcement is made. Trust me.

In fact its actually better that way. Its unlikely that Kean would come out of the meeting and announce he's been fired. More likely he'd be vocal today if he comes out of the meeting and he's not.

I beleive Kean will survive,if he does with all the big sporting events coming up the story will be forgotten.
This state of affairs must be kept in the public eye.It needs a web site with A4 kean out posters that can be printed off by fans.
Then when fans go on holiday they can leave them all over the world. At home they can leave them where ever they go,leave them in pubs, public transport. At work you can post them to clients, send them out with parcels. What a story if you can't have a **** anywhere in the world with out a Kean out poster pasted to the sh*t house door.A new kean out poster on youtube every day.
If kean is sacked then 18thMay can become Kean out day to be celebrated by generations of Rovers fans.

I find the whole episode disenchanting and sickening. I will probably cease taking any interest in this football club. I no longer have any connection although my family have been connected with the club at a high level off and on for over 100 years. I find this so sickening; if the Venkys do not do the right thing for once then in my eyes that's it. As for the club, there will be no way back to the Premier League in the foreseeable future and the club will eventually fester in the lower divisions.

The meeting in Pune is not about footie and Rovers, it's about money and Venkys and Kean extricating themselves with their pockets full.
There's no way they can "revive" Rovers, Greece has a better chance of staying in the Eurozone; the media have at last caught up with Venkys and a lot of footie journos have caught up with Keano apart from a few old-lags of the managers and former players cosy club.
My money remains of Kean being in charge to supervise the debacle of a total collapse before the year end.

BashirShah says...
8:49pm Thu 17 May 12

o-one knows apartment from Venky's and Kean what the situation is so it is pointless trying to second guess and speculate about it until an announcement is made.

That said, we are not completely helpless to advocate changes should nothing change and he remains.

The problem is not everyone has the stomach to do whatever required: not buy season tickets or any goods, engender a culture whereby everyone and anyone attends matches understands that they are contributing to the downfall of the club.

An empty stadium is the best weapon we have in our arsenal. A half empty stadium just won't do. We need to publicly embarrass Kean and Venky's repeatedly as the media reports on the fans boycott off the club which will take its toll on both Kean's management and on Venky's worldwide reputation. Combine that with the likelihood of the Keanadonna having the club fighting relegation again next season and it will eventually pay off.

The problem is once the dust settles on this story and the season starts, many supporters will likely throw in the towel and attend the matches, which is exactly what Venky's and Kean will be banking on.

whittaker0 says...
8:58pm Thu 17 May 12

The Venkys are quite out of their depth, the Kean is an incompetent and a loud mouth and Anderson is Anderson; all they have in common is the infatuation with money. Money this, money that; pathetic really. Why on earth have the Rovers fallen prey to these dishonourable people. I wonder whether there are rules in the original articles of association of Blackburn Rovers Football and Athletic Club, Premier League (I doubt it) or the Football Association or that matter the Football league that the Venkys may have breached .

Well, Mrs Desai, you have got every decision catastrophically wrong so far and if you get this one wrong it will be the most monumental mistake of the lot.
Another season with not only an apology of a manager, but a human being as well, will see us in the relegation mire again next season and the destruction of this club virtually complete.
The first team squad will either be wiped out or in open revolt against this idiot of a leader, despised by most players and virtually all fans, with more training ground and dressing room bust-ups and a team with no stomach to compete in the Championship never mind the Premier League.
