LEEDS United boss Simon Grayson is willing to allow on-loan defender Tom Lees to stay at Accrington Stanley for the rest of the season.

Lees has impressed Grayson and Stanley boss John Coleman with his performances since joining the Reds on a temporary deal in September but the loan is currently scheduled to expire at the start of January.

The 19-year-old, who has been a regular at right back, has already indicated that he would be keen to remain at the Crown Ground to gain more first-team experience and it seems likely that the deal could now be extended until the end of the season.

“We’ve had Tom watched quite a bit and things have developed really well for him,” Grayson told the Lancashire Telegraph.

“It’s been a good experience going to Accrington and he’ll benefit from that. Everyone is saying how well he’s done.

“I think we’ll address his situation in the next few weeks but there’s no point me bringing him back to Leeds unless he’s going to go into our first-team squad.

“Going back out on loan will probably be the next step for him.”
