BOSSES at Blackburn Rovers have given Accrington Stanley a boost after saying they were willing to discuss a joint fundraising bid.

A Blackburn Rovers spokesman said: “We are aware of Accrington’s Stanley’s difficulties, although we have not as yet had any direct approach from them.

"As a neighbouring club, we would be happy to explore any way in which we could offer help.”

Stanley chief executive Rob Heys said the club would now look to work with Rovers on a fundraising project.

He said: “We have not been in touch with Rovers yet but we will be knocking on the door shortly.

“Both Blackburn and Burnley have shown us a lot of support over the years and we are very grateful for that."
