Accrington Stanley target Padraig set for Portugal return

PADRAIG Amond will return to Portugal for pre-season training with Pacos de Ferreira next week as Accrington Stanley’s hopes of signing the forward on a permanent basis remain uncertain.

Amond spent last season on loan at Stanley from the Portuguese club, and both the club and the Irishman would be a open to a deal that would see him return to the Crown Ground.

But Pacos appointed Paulo Fonseca as their new boss in May and have not yet decided whether Amond is in their plans.

The 24-year-old has been asked to report for pre-season training before discovering his future.

“I'm back in Portugal for pre-season next week,” Amond said on Twitter.

“I have to meet new management and see what is happening.”

Fingers crossed that Podge can persuade the new boss to release him & free him to come back to Stanley - it's what Podge wants & it's definately what Stanley want
