Bender leaves Accrington Stanley

TOM Bender's season-long loan at Accrington Stanley has been cut short after Colchester United opted to recall the defender.

Bender hit the national headlines in October when he suffered a head injury, forcing the abandonment of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie against Tranmere.

The 19-year-old was released from hospital a day later after sustaining only severe concussion but other injury problems have restricted his involvement this season.
