STANLEY owner Andy Holt believes the Reds remarkable surge towards promotion is unlikely to be repeated in his lifetime.

John Coleman's side can secure promotion to League One as soon as this weekend with a Wham Stadium win over Exeter City and Holt is hoping for another big crowd to soak up what could be once-in-a-lifetime scenes.

Stanley have won 15 of 17 league games since the Boxing Day defeat to Carlisle for a return of 46 points from a possible 51. That has propelled them from outside the play-off places to top of the league, three points clear of Luton with two games in hand.

"We're second in Europe now I believe over the last 17 games. It's unbelievable, full credit to the lads, they've done everybody proud, we couldn't have asked for anymore," Holt said of Stanley's stunning run of form.

"They still look strong and fit and fresh. I'm not an expert like Coley but to me they still look strong and up for it."

Coleman has achieved miracles with Stanley this season, making light of the second smallest budget in the league, and Holt believes he should be manager of the season across all four leagues.

"For me he has to be, I think the job he's done is incredible," he said.

"You've got to remember that we haven't got the biggest budget by a long way, what he's achieved, with a great bunch of lads that he's put together, will probably never be achieved again in my lifetime.

"A run like that just doesn't come along that often. I'm so proud that is happening now."

The maths for Stanley are simple this weekend. A win will see them promoted, any other result and the wait will go on.

But even if the three points aren't secured this weekend there will be more chances for Stanley to finish the job, although Holt would like to see it done sooner rather than later.

"It would be nice to do it as soon as possible and we can have a breather," he said.

"We're on such a good run. You're talking about law of averages, one day we'll have to lose one, rather than looking at it as an individual game.

"I'm looking forward to the weekend, I'm not nervous at all because I'm confident we'll give it a good shot.

"I'd be more nervous if we were playing Barnet or Chesterfield, a team fighting for their lives, you can get unknowns then.

"Against Exeter, a top side, I think it will be a good game. A lot of funny results will come from the bottom of the table so I'd rather to keep out of that."

Over 3,000 fans packed into the Wham Stadium for the Easter Monday win over Notts County, Stanley's biggest crowd of the season.

With a promotion party on ice this weekend against the fourth placed Grecians, Holt is hoping for another bumper crowd.

But he said there was plenty more in the pipeline to try and grow crowds, and insisted promotion wouldn't result in significant price hikes.

"We're hoping for another big crowd. I want to do a lot more to grow the crowd," said Holt.

"We have a chance of League One next year but we won't be going daft on prices. We just want to carry on continually building the club slowly and surely and I think we can do it.

"We couldn't ask for a better springboard than what is happening now. It's great for Accrington."
