STANLEY boss John Coleman believes Stanley have delivered a statement of intent with their January transfer business after completing their second cash buy of the month.

The Reds swooped to bring in defender Harvey Rodgers from Fleetwood Town on deadline day having already brought in goalkeeper Jonny Maxted from Guiseley for a fee.

It is a sign of the changing times at the Wham Stadium with owner Andy Holt investing on and off the pitch but Coleman said he is not becoming a spendthrift.

“It’s the first time we have spent money on deadline day as far as I can remember,” said the Stanley boss.

“It is a sign of our intentions but we have to have a prudent fiscal policy and we don’t waste money and we certainly haven’t spent big on wages which gives you the opportunity when someone becomes available at the right price that we can do business.”

Rodgers became the seventh arrival of the month at Stanley. As well as Maxted, the Reds have signed striker Akeel Francis and midfielder Danny Williams on deals until the end of the season while defensive duo Jimmy Dunne and Charlie Rowan arrived on loan as did forward Offrande Zanzala.
