ACCRINGTON Stanley skipper Seamus Conneely has signed a new two year deal with the club.

The 28-year-old has extended his stay at the Wham Stadium until the summer of 2019 after penning a fresh deal.

Irishman Conneely played 46 times for Stanley last term, scoring on the final day win at Stevenage in what was his 100th league appearance for the club.

He joined from Sligo in January 2015, where he had played under Stanley manager John Coleman, and has gone on to feature in 113 games.

Conneely started his career at Galway United but did have a spell in England with Sheffield United in 2011/12 before heading to Sligo.

“I feel it’s exciting times at Accrington," Conneely told the club's official website after signing his new deal.

“We have had one very good season where we reached the play-offs and a very good end to last season which hopefully we will carry into this season.

“I have settled in the area with my wife and baby and just bought a house so this is ideal for me.”
