ROMMY Boco made it a magnificent seven goals for the season and dedicated his dramatic late strike against Yeovil Town to the Accrington Stanley supporters.

The one-time Benin captain came off the bench to net in the 91st minute and secure a point for Stanley - and he admitted it was a ‘special’ moment for him.

It ended a run of four successive league defeats for the Reds and gave the supporters something to celebrate after seven-and-a-half hours without a goal.

“The fans always back me, they always sing my name when I warm up and it’s something special, I appreciate it,” said the 31-year-old. “That goal was for them, they keep shouting my name, and to produce a goal is a bonus for me, the fans and the club.”

John Coleman called Boco ‘ice cool’ when the ball fell to him in the box and the frontman admitted: “I did have to keep my cool.

“I could have just smashed it but I thought about it. The first thing was to get it on target as, if you get it on target there is always the chance of a goal, and thankfully it went in.

“It was so important to get something out of the game as we had lost four league games in a row and when you look at the table it wasn’t nice.

“But we showed a great attitude and we managed to come back into it which is great for our moral. Now we have to try and move up the table and hopefully this result will kick us on.”

Coleman is hoping Boco’s late goal will be a turning point for Stanley this season who finally ended a poor run of reverse results in the league.

And he was relieved to see Stanley finally end their long wait for a goal.

He said: “It’s only a point but let’s hope it’s a turning point. Actually scoring a goal, it seemed like it was never going to happen.

“I’ve got to take my hat of to the players because you can’t fault their effort. They did not let their heads drop.

“We’ve conceded another kamikaze goal. It wasn’t a free kick but we should have dealt with it.

“But I thought we showed a lot of spirit and took the game to them. They are a decent side and they played well in the first 15 minutes but I thought we wrestled and controlled the game and got what we deserved.

“We are having no luck at the moment but we keep battling away and if you show that kind of appetite for the game and that kind of spirit it will take you a long way.”

Coleman paid tribute to Reds’ hero Boco after his dramatic late leveller to earn a share of the spoils.

“You wouldn’t want anybody else than Rommy in that situation,” he said. “Because that is the one thing that sets him apart.

“He’s ice cool under pressure.

“Actually, it wasn’t one of his better performances when he came on but he has got a big heart and he won’t hide and you couldn’t have picked a better player to get that opportunity at the death.”
