BURNLEY and Accrington Stanley each celebrated a double at the MBNA Northwest Football Awards on Monday night.

Clarets striker Andre Gray was named Championship Player of the Year after the striker’s 23 goals helped to fire the Clarets to promotion last season and saw him named top scorer in the division.

Gray saw off competition from Blackburn Rovers midfielder Ben Marshall and Preston North End defender Greg Cunningham.

Burnley FC in the Community also took home an award after being named Community Club of the Year for all leagues outside of the top-flight.

The honour was in recognition of the impact and strong number of participants for its wide variety of projects, which help people from different backgrounds and ethnic minorities in the local communities.

Accrington Stanley were also celebrating after striker Billy Kee won the League Two player of the season award.

The 25-year-old hit 21 goals in 52 appearances for the Reds last season as John Coleman's side came desperately close to promotion.

Stanley doctor Joyce Watson was also a winner as she took home the Fabrice Muamba Award for Outstanding Service to Football Medicine and Science.

Watson's work within the football medicine and science field has been second to none this year and on countless occasions she has gone above and beyond in dedication to her profession.

The MBNA Goal of the Year went to Blackburn-born striker Paul Gallagher for his strike for Preston against Charlton.
