HE'S famous for his catchphrase 'start the car' when commentating on cricket for Sky Sports, but Stanley fan David Lloyd says manager John Coleman is more like the best taxi driver in the business as he steers the Reds to success.

"If he were a taxi driver in London he’d be head of the Knowledge," Bumble told the Lancashire Telegraph, adding that Coleman and his assistant Jimmy Bell are 'fabulous blokes'.

Former Lancashire and England player and coach Lloyd takes the name of Accrington around the world in his cricketing duties.

But he still gets home as much as he can to watch his beloved team and, even though he admits the disappointment of last season still hurts, he's looking forward to another crack at the top of League Two.

"I’ve still not got over last season," he said. "It was a killer.

"The Stevenage game, we hit the bar three times, but it just wasn’t to be.

"I think they gave everything in that game.

"Against Wimbledon, with 10 minutes to go we were 2-1 up and then it just didn't happen, so on and one."

But Bumble says thing are looking up under the stewardship of owner Andy Holt, and he's confident Coleman and Bell can work their magic once again.

"You've got to start with the owner," he said.

"The way he’s working throughout the summer to bring the ground up to something that everybody can be proud of.

"He’s invested in the team, so if you’re a Stanleyite you’re looking forward to this season."

He added: "I would think we’ve fought off one or two clubs (for Coleman and Bell).

"They’re just Stanley through and through; they’re fabulous blokes.

"It’s no secret that we create a real family and it’s got to be down to those two.

"It’s incredible the way that they work and what they do in the job.

"I’ve got a pal in the League Managers Association and he said that John is real hands-on and does a lot of work behind the scenes.

"He knows what’s going on for the nitty gritty of being a league manager.

"I’m not talking about Mourinho and those guys, but for the lads who part their heart and soul in it."

Lloyd puts his heart and soul into supporting his team too, and should get the chance to watch a few more games this season.

He explained: "I get down when I can.

"My wife is a York City fans, so I've got to marry that in a little bit.

"My winters have, in the past, been quite demanding, but not this winter as I'm not doing too many abroad tours so I’ll see more games.

"I get up a fair amount, but I don't go to every game - I don't like the cold!"
