ACCRINGTON Stanley have offered deals to 18 players - including star men Piero Mingoia and Tom Davies - but four will leave the Wham Stadium this summer.

The Reds have released goalkeeper Jason Mooney, defender Liam Wakefield and youngsters Keenan Quansah and Kealan Steenson.

But Stanley boss John Coleman has offered terms to the remainder of his out of contract players.

That list includes Davies and Mingoia, who are expected to attract interest after fine seasons, along with Josh Windass and Matt Crooks.

The latter two have signed pre-contract agreements with Scottish giants Rangers but the Reds have to offer the duo a deal to qualify for a compensation fee.

First team regulars Ross Etheridge, Adam Buxton, Shay McCartan, Mark Hughes and Scott Brown have been offered deals by Coleman while Anthony Barry, Rommy Boco, Terry Gornell, Dean Winnard and Andy Procter have also been offered a contract.

The club have also offered deals to Marcus Carver, Liam Goulding, Max Hazeldine and Brayden Shaw.

Reds chief Coleman has backed the released quartet to find new clubs quickly.

He said: “Telling players they’re leaving is probably one of the hardest things about management but I’ve found sometimes it’s best to be honest and that can be the best for them,” said manager John Coleman.

“I had a good chat with Liam Wakefield and he was of the same opinion as me. The lads are realistic enough to know that they need to play football. That’s refreshing. In this day and age there aren’t enough who just want to play.

“They’re all capable of going on and having good careers wherever they go. We have to look at what’s best for the club and the players. Jason Mooney is too old to be a number two so it’s best for him to look for a new opportunity.”

Club captain Seamus Conneely, top scorer Billy Kee, Matty Pearson and Sean McConville are already under contract for 2016-17 while the club tied up deals for young pair Ross Sykes and Nathan Webb last week.

The Reds have seen loan pair Brad Halliday, Tariqe Fosu and Andy Little return to their parent clubs although the latter has since been released by Preston.
