PIERO Mingoia picked up the North West League Two player of the year award this week, and John Coleman wants to pack his team with replicas of the winger.

“He’s a great lad, great appetite and an absolute pleasure to manage.

“It would be boring if everyone was the same, but life wouldn’t half be easier if you had 11 Piero’s,” smiled the Accrington Stanley boss.

“His attitude’s fantastic but that shouldn’t take away from his ability. Jimmy (Bell) calls him the postman because he always delivers.

“It would be a joy to play with him as a centre forward because you know the ball’s coming into the box.

“I’m a bit disappointed with Sean McConville’s conversion rate because he gets two glorious chances in every game. Playing in Sean’s position you can’t help but get a chance if you’re playing with Piero because the ball’s going to come to the far post.”

Mingoia beat off competition from Morecambe’s Shaun Beeley, Bury’s Nathan Cameron, Carlisle’s Danny Grainger and Tranmere’s Max Power, receiving the award from Stoke and Scotland midfielder Charlie Adam at Lancashire County Cricket Club’s Emirates Old Trafford.
