ANDY Procter says he is not thinking about becoming Accrington Stanley’s record appearance maker, because he just wants to get back into the side.

The midfielder is closing in on Paul Mullin’s club record 456 games for the Reds.

But after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a broken ankle and battle to reclaim his place, he is not looking beyond his next game.

“It (the record) is not something I am thinking about, and it seems a long way off when you haven’t been in the squad for four weeks,” said the fit-again 32-year-old, who was injured in Stanley’s win over champions Burton in March.

“It will be a nice accolade if it happens but I am just looking at the next game at the moment.”

Procter’s first appearance of the season came in Tuesday night’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy defeat to his former club, Bury.

He has yet to start a game, but played most of the tie after coming on in the second minute, replacing Séamus Conneely.

“I am happy I have got some minutes under my belt,” said Procter. “It’s a step on my road to recovery.

“It has just been so frustrating.”
