JOHN Coleman is hoping for another memorable cup night for Accrington Stanley – even if it isn’t in front of the cameras.

The visit of Hull City was surprisingly overlooked for one of the televised games in the Capital One Cup.

The fixture has been selected for live coverage by BBC Radio 5Live however, and Coleman hopes it is Stanley who are hitting the headlines.

“We’ve had some great games here in the League Cup. A special one was against Nottingham Forest when we won live on television here,” said the Reds boss of August 2006 tie, which Stanley won 1-0 at the start of their first season back in the Football League.

“That probably announced who we were.

“It will be a tough game.

“Hull are a smashing side and to all intents and purposes a Premier League side. I’m sure they’ll be very close to being in the Premier League again next season.

“It will be a tough test for us but that’s what we’re here for.”

Asked if he thinks counterpart Steve Bruce will see the game as a potential banana skin, Coleman said: “I hope so.

“ You can’t second guess what the team will be but its a big game for us and we’ll treat it as such.”
