Cummins, 22, is a former Everton trainee but has spent his professional career so far in Scotland.

Coleman said: “We have to be fair to the lads on trial and not keep them too long.

“We’ll be speaking to everyone by the weekend.”

Stanley’s match with AFC Darwen was goalless at half time before Piero Mingoia’s deflected effort broke the deadlock.

Marcus Carver then added a second goal after Adam Morgan had headed down a cross from substitute St Juste, before youth team player Nathan Webb made it 3-0.

Mingoia said: “It’s the first time we’ve played 90 some of us and towards the end I think a few of us felt it a little bit, but it’s what you have to get through to be ready for August 8.”

Stanley host Burnley on Saturday in a testimonial match for Coleman and assistant Jimmy Bell.

The game will see former Watford youngster Mingoia face his old Hornets boss Sean Dyche.

“We played them last year and it was nice to see him,” the midfielder said. “I’ve known him for a few years but we’ve got a game to play and hopefully we can win it for the gaffer and Jimmy.”
