ACCRINGTON Stanley boss John Coleman is hoping to make up to another three summer signings.

Coleman has so far snapped up Fleetwood Town centre-back Tom Davies, FC Halifax Town midfielder Matty Pearson and Yeovil Town’s former Liverpool striker Adam Morgan.

But he is keen to make more additions before Stanley return to pre-season with his priority being a new goalkeeper.

“We’re not too bad numbers-wise but I’m not planning on stopping yet,” said Coleman.

“We still want to bring in two or three new players and obviously I have to sort the goalkeeping situation out which is ongoing at the moment. We’re hopeful that will be sorted soon.

“We aim to start pre-season having to not bring in a flock of trialists and trying to pad out the squad.

“Ideally you want to be starting pre-season with everyone knowing precisely what their role is within the squad, where we want to go and getting to know our methods as well as us getting to know the players.”

But Coleman, a prolific non-league goalscorer in his playing days, has not entirely ruled out the possibility of giving out-of-contract players the chance to impress.

“I hope the days of large numbers of trialists are over but you can never say never,” he told Stanley’s official website.

“That’s a difficult situation for myself and Jimmy but we also really feel for those players. When you come in with eight or nine players on trial it’s difficult to give them the time to look at them individually.

“I know myself from going on trials how difficult it is. You’re under pressure and sometimes that pressure means that you just can’t perform.

“I feel for lads that have to go in trial in the summer but I suppose it’s a necessary evil.”
