ACCRINGTON Stanley boss John Coleman says his squad for next season will have started to take shape by next week after revealing he had given his out of contract players a week to sign terms offered to them.

Captain Luke Joyce is among those who are free to leave the Store First Stadium following Saturday’s 2-1 win over Mansfield in the final League Two match of the season.

And Coleman insists his side will cope with any departures should they occur.

“We have spoken to everyone this week so everyone knows the situation,” he told the club’s official website. “The players will be given a week to decide what they want to do.

“I know what we can offer here and I know what the players can offer us. It’s a case of what we can do for them and what they can do for us.

“We are not going to be able to knock people over with money but we give them a platform to play and they get paid a decent wage “We can’t savage the club and make promises that we can’t keep.”

Already heading out of the exit door at Stanley are defender Michael Liddle, forward George Bowerman and youngster James Jenkins who have all been released.

Former Sunderland man Liddle made more than 70 appearances for Stanley after joining the Reds in 2012, initially on loan, and featured 19 times this season.

Bowerman made 12 league starts for the club scoring three goals while Jenkins, 19, had yet to make his first team debut having come through the Stanley youth system.

Coleman added: “I want to thank Michael, George and James for their efforts and wish them good luck in the future.”

Meanwhile the Reds chief reiterated his desire to bring midfielder David Dunn to the club after he announced he would be leaving neighbours Blackburn Rovers this summer.

Coleman added “We have had a long chat with him.”

“He is a great lad and he has had a number of offers. It will be no surprise if he is walking around this pitch on the final game of next season. I am not sure he will be here for the start but I can see him being here at the end of the season.”
