“He’s got a good pedigree and he’s done well at Wigan,” said Reds boss John Coleman. “He now needs to get league experience.

“We have half an eye on looking at loan signings for next season and that’s something to consider.

“He’s a very attacking player and we have to look at all attacking options for this season and next season. This ticks the boxes for us.”

Jennings could make his Football League debut against Newport on Saturday and hopes he can be get some first team football as soon as possible.

“Hopefully I can be involved on Saturday,” he said. “I’m not sure yet but it’s a big experience for me and I can’t wait for that chance whenever I get it.

“I have to make my impact as soon as possible, get the manager on my side and get myself into that team.”

Experienced goalkeeper Tony Warner will be the second new face in the squad for the game against the Exiles.

He has penned a short term deal with the Reds and will provide cover for Fleetwood Town loanee Scott Davies in the squad.

“Andrew Dawber’s injured and we’ve taken a chance over the last couple of weeks with no keeper on the bench,” explained Coleman. “That’s not ideal, it’s tempting fate and you’ll get your fingers burnt if you keep doing it.

“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t worried about something happening to Scott Davies with no cover available and we don’t want to try to keep getting away with it.

“Tony’s helping us out. He has a good football pedigree but he’ll also be good to have around the place.

“He’s coaching now at Bolton but will be able to play for us and it’s an ideal situation for both of us.”
