STANLEY boss John Coleman said seeing his side draw Manchester United at home in the FA Cup third round made it all the more annoying that they didn’t put their second round tie to bed on Saturday.

The Reds wasted a hatful of chances as they only drew 1-1 with Yeovil at the Store First Stadium.

And the true cost of those misses was laid bare last night when ball 51, Stanley or Yeovil, came out the hat as the penultimate home draw in the third round.

Only five balls remained in the hat, Preston, Norwich, Doncaster, Bristol City, and ball number 25, Manchester United.

Sure enough it was United who came out and Stanley could sense a dream tie in East Lancashire, but they know there is a lot of work to do before they can start thinking about the Red Devils.

The stalemate with the Glovers at the weekend means the two sides must do it again next Tuesday (December 16) in Somerset, and now both sets of players know what is on the line.

Coleman is certainly not allowing himself or his players to think too far ahead. His first words on answering his phone after the draw being: “We’ve got Yeovil in the FA Cup.”

The Stanley manager added: “It makes it all the more annoying that we didn’t win on Saturday, but we have to get that out of our minds.

“Everyone will only look at one side of it, but they (Yeovil) have exactly the same incentive as us.

“I always say the next game is the most important, but I’d be tempted to say Tuesday is because of what’s at stake. That’s the game with the most riding on it because of what it would mean for the club.

“It’s the replay with the most to gain.”

Stanley can take heart from the fact that they were the better team on Saturday, although it is likely to be a tougher test at Huish Park.

Yeovil have struggled since relegation from the Championship last season though. They lie 23rd in League Two and have won just two of 11 home games this season.

Stanley captain Luke Joyce, a veteran of the Reds run to the fourth round in 2009/10, when they were beaten at home by Premier League Fulham, said the Yeovil replay was now their ‘cup final’.

“Our replay with Yeovil is going to be an absolute cup final,” said the 27-year-old midfielder.

“We’re delighted with the draw, it’s just unbelievable. But then two seconds later you’re reminded that you’ve still got a game to play before then.

“That draw may as well be blank because we’re not at that stage.

“But the prize is massive.

“It would be the biggest game I’ve ever been involved in. Most players get one chance in their career to play against a team like Manchester United.

“Fingers crossed.

“We’ll be doing everything possible to win the replay.

“Yeovil will be feeling exactly the same, so it’s up to us to play as well as we did for those 70 minutes on Saturday for the whole game because we should have beaten them.”
