WES Fletcher scored the winning goal on his debut to earn Accrington Stanley their first three points of the season.

The 20-year-old striker was thrown straight into the Reds starting line-up the day after completing a loan move from neighbours Burnley until January.

And he settled in immediately with a lively first-half performance in which he stung the keeper's hands and then clipped the crossbar with a dinked cross-shot.

Bradford tried to catch Stanley out on the break, but the backline benefitted from the experienced Sean Hessey's return, as one of four changes to the side which lost at home to Southend United on Saturday.

The Bantams' only chances came from offside positions.

Stanley's defence was just as resolute after the break, and gave John Coleman's men a solid platform to build on.

They were rewarded for good spells of possession and positive approach play with Fletcher's 77th minute goal.

The Liverpudlian spun away from his marker to run onto a clever throughball after Bradford failed to clear their lines, and showed no fear when faced with advancing on-loan Liverpool keeper Martin Hansen as he poked it past the Danish Under 21 international.
