A FIRST-half Stuart Dallas strike ended Accrington Stanley's eight-match unbeaten run as the Reds were beaten at Northampton Town.

The run has seen James Beattie's men hoist themselves off the foot of League Two and they travelled to Sixfields confident of extending their recent record against a side who went into the match at the bottom of the table.

Danny Webber went close to giving Stanley the lead when it was 0-0 and they were made to pay as Dallas found the bottom corner with a left foot effort.

Peter Murphy could have levelled but the Cobblers should have gone 2-0 ahead when they were awarded a penalty after Michael Liddle tripped Izale McLeod in the box.

McLeod picked himself up to take the penalty - but Marcus Bettinelli got down well to save.

Webber went close after the break but despite pressure, Stanley couldn't force an equaliser.
