Clarets rule out Hill in search for new boss

BURNLEY have ruled out an approach for Barnsley boss Keith Hill in the search for Eddie Howe’s successor.
The Lancashire Telegraph understands that the former Rochdale manager, who led the Spotland outfit to automatic promotion in 2011 after achieving two consecutive League Two play-offs spots, was discussed by the board as an option to take the reins at Turf Moor.
However, it is believed the Clarets have moved on to other targets.
The club is understood to have had an informal chat with former Wolves manager Mick McCarthy, while ex-Claret Warren Joyce is the most recent name to emerge as a target.
The 47-year-old is Manchester United’s reserve team manager. He was close to returning to former club Hull City as manager after Nigel Pearson opted to go back to Leicester City for a second spell in charge in November 2011, but opted to stay at Old Trafford.
