Burnley boss Howe plays down Bournemouth link

EDDIE Howe has this morning insisted that he still has ‘a long way to go’ at Burnley after being linked with a return to Bournemouth.

Howe left Bournemouth to take over as Clarets boss in January 2011 but the south coast club are being linked with a surprise move to try to lure the 34-year-old back to League One.

Bournemouth parted company with manager Paul Groves yesterday.

At his pre-match press conference this morning, though, Howe said: “This is a Bournemouth story and not really one I should be commenting on.

“I’m proud to be Burnley manager, we've just started the job. We feel there's a long way to go.”

Never stand in the way of a manager and the chance to move to a bigger more ambitious club Burnley

Look,I know the season so far has been abit disappointing, but I still think Eddie's the right man. I understand the fans frustration, but this league's becoming more and more competitive every year and our crowds and budget place us firmly in the bottom third. Our only way is to sign younger kids and develop them asap. Look at Tripps for example. Last season we all said he's premiership bound and who's tyrone mears!? Now, we can all see his defensive frailties. I think Eddie knows the problems like this, but I still think he's the best person to sort it out.

Please keep him or shift him elsewhere - he isn't welcome back here.

If we carry on defending like we are now where on earth will we finish in the table?Except for Austin's phenomenal record, where would we be now?I hope I'm wrong but he surely can't keep that up.If Howe is joint favourite to return to Bournemouth at 6-4,maybe we could save a lot of money by letting him,and get a manager who will tighten us up defensively much sooner rather than later.

He will just walk away if offered a 'bigger' club and take the best players with him - he did it to AFCB
