FULL TIME: Burnley 3 Sheffield Wednesday 3

CHARLIE Austin's second hat trick of the season was not enough to give Burnley maximum points as they were pegged back three times by Sheffield Wednesday.

The Burnley hot shot has now bagged 14 goals this season but the hosts were left disappointed in a thrilling 3-3 draw with their Championship rivals.

Austin gave Burnley the lead in the 22nd minute as he headed home a cross from Kieran Trippier.

But Chris O’Grady levelled for the visitors a minute later as he converted a centre from Michail Antonio.

Austin netted his second of the game – heading in another Trippier cross - to make it 2-1 seven minutes before half time.

The Clarets were pegged back by O’Grady once more in the 64th minute, however, as the Owls striker capitalised on Michael Duff’s slip to round Lee Grant and score.

Burnley thought they had won it when Austin completed his treble with a fierce strike, after latching on to Dean Marney's long pass, with just minutes remaining.

But a minute later, Wednesday's Michail Antonio unleashed an unstoppable shot to level.

Burnley: Lee Grant, Kieran Trippier, Michael Duff (Kevin Long 89), David Edgar, Ben Mee, Ross Wallace, Brian Stock, Dean Marney, Junior Stanislas (Sam Vokes 90), Charlie Austin, Martin Paterson (Cameron Stewart 70). Subs not used: Brian Jensen, Luke O’Neill, Joseph Mills, Marvin Bartley.

Attendance: 12,122.

.......... Can't argue with your comment chap I'm In total agreement it.

Defending seems to be a dirty word with the clarets but It's not just this season it seems like every bloody season.

What happens when Austin hits a barron patch which strikers do at some point in a season or is injured coz the way we keep letting goals in were be in deep trouble especially as we don't have anyone else matching his goals .

Any news on the hotseat at your gaff?

A point gained at home against Millwall and Wednesday, personally I set my sights a touch higher without ever dreaming of finishing in the higher echelons of the division. Both are average championship sides at best and are teams we have to beat at home if we are to harbour ambitions of not keeping too close to the action at the wrong end of the table.
Conceded 5 in 2 home games against mediocre teams with poor recent records, time for improvements.
On a positive note, keep going Charlie, top efforts and a shame your team mates are letting you down.

Come on, Eddie, get this poor excuse for a defence sorted out.

The way everyone is driving a bus through it at the moment is inexcusable - and don't blame Shackell's absence, because he has also been part of some of the worst displays we've seen.

Get into the loan market and bring in a couple of solid centre backs, who can boss the area.

How many other teams are scoring as many goals as ourselves, but coming away with only draws.

4 points dropped in 2 home games against poor sides just isn't good enough.

Come on you Clarets !!!

You lot will have problems if Austen is injured as he is banging in all your goals. There's a few teams in this division has defensive problems and conceding too many goals - Leeds, Blackpool and us being some. Means you have to keep scoring high to pick pts up. There's nothing in this league really from about 16th place up. Tough to get out of. I wouldn't mind some of the old 1-0 wins that big sam used to orchestrate

watching the game dont u think were weak and have no strength anywhere in the squad? trippier couldn't handle that dude on left we never got anywhere near the 2nd ball not even going to tawk about winning the 1st ball they won everything in air and then he plays the passing game but no player so far played a pass and made a move to get the ball back they expect it back i mean how? basic things are missing the seasons long just hope for best we got palace then blackpool

small town. Small team. Small support. Horrible town. Horrible people. Town full of chavs. Town full of pound shops. Cheap and nasty. You're just a cheap and nasty town in yarksha. Should really be in the conference league, where you really belong!

The mighty rovers are being linked to footballing greats, for the vacant hot seat. Your lot will never have that level of interest, cos you're a small time club....

I rest my case

Do we have a defence. If so why does .H.. not play them. Its time he went together with the players who are not up to it. We have the same excuse, game after game. Exiled claret

why are there so many brfc tossers on here? you would think that with the mess their sooy outfit is in they would remain silent. then again being a fan? of a rudderless club that was supposed to be in top ten of premier cant really be a bundle of fun
Now to the issue at hand- eddie sort the defence out and quickly also buy a keeper worthy of the name

One thing to support our defence is that they get no direction from the mute Grant. He should be screaming at them. No doubt we will be told about another wonder goal - anyone thought of getting close enough to not offer the time to shoot? Agree re the loan market, needs freshening up starting from a keeper who commands his box and pushes his defence out.
