Also sounds like the defense was OK seeing we had so much pressure on us, and Dann was OK but Olsson was not interested and Robbo's distribution kicking was terrible. Heard that Rovers have been in touch with Spurs already about Sherwood and also talked with Harry Redknapp separately. Either one would be OK but would prefer Harry or even both! No one else in the frame at the moment....not even the obvious ones like McCarthy or Curbs.

Nothing against Tim Sherwood but the last thing we need is another inexperienced manager. We need someone who has proved they can cut it to get us back up. Harry would be a good choice albeit not a long term option.

Today's game - for a team that knows each other well .. we had arguments over who takes throw ins, Scott dann taking free kicks (straight to them time after time or out for a goal kick). I was around a load of Charlton fans and quite rightly were saying .... Rovers should smash them, but they didn't as it was blatant they weren't bothered. I thought Christmas had come early last night but the reality is the club isn't together and whoever comes in has one hell of a challenge on his hands. Against Bristol I saw us outplayed for the most part and win, today I saw us outplayed and draw. A solid, tried and tested manager is what we need. ASAP.

Savage was saying on twitter last night he'd like an ex player for the job. Also made the point that it would be a great time to become rovers manager - let's face it, any manager worth his salt could get our team up. Immediate fan backing etc.

Would prefer an experienced pragmatic manager - McCarthy or even Benitez might consider it. Harry wouldn't move up here. Wouldn't mind sherwood (he's highly rated at spurs) but NOT shearer. He's not cut out to be a manager. Or how about Tugay and Salgado??

Flitcroft was on TalkSPORT sports bar last night and spoke very highly about Rovers. He said he felt like he'd done his time as an 'apprentice' manager at Chorley and felt ready for a big job. He was a great servant to Rovers and I was a big fan of his but I don't think he's the right man to be fair. We need experience. There's so many names being banded about it's difficult to tell what madame, the brothers grim or shabba dabba doo are planning. I personally think Alex McLeish would be a realistic and good appointment who has a point to prove after his Villa nightmare. His defensive know how and style are exactly what we need at the minute because I think the quality we have up top will look after it self.

Rovers were shocking this afternoon. The midfield was non-existent.Kean has run this club down to a very low ebb and there is a very big job for the next manager to build the team back up. The supporters looked a bit weary as well. The next manager is going tomhave to change the system of play, the spirit of the team, and he is going to have to clear out a lot of dead wood. A lot of the dead wood includes some of the new recruits such as Murphy and Etuhu. You couldn't have a better example of Kean's incompetence than that. When Dunny came on the pitch he was the liveliest Rover, which tells you a lot. There was no support for Rhodes except from Nunes.This team is not going to get promoted. It is going to be a long repair job and one for a very experience manager. Ewood Park is not the place for a leaner with all those evil individuals like Hendry, Shabby etc looking over his shoulder. The truth is that Rovers were very lucky to get away with a draw today. Charlton were by far the more accomplished team.

Of all the dismal statistics defining Rovers performance on the pitch the most dismal by far must be the retention of possession from distribution of the ball by Paul Robinson. He is a decent stopper but his ball distribution is shocking. Why can a former England keeper only hoof the ball down the pitch and more often than not as happened time and again today straight into touch. It sets a pattern of giving away possession through the long ball which permeates the rest of the team.

Does anyone know who is the fat bald headed guy in the navy blue track suit with the lime green edging, who was in the Blackburn support this afternoon at Charlton and who spent the entire afternoon braying loudly and incoherently? One of my group is studying anthropology and would like to get in touch with him for his thesis.

Although he has gone (18 months too late!) we will have to live with his mess for a while yet. Defence needs strengthening urgently.

People suggesting Harry Redknapp, Rafa Benitez, Jurgen Klinsmann, Kenny Dalglish and the likes need to get back down to earth. Honestly, it's a bit embarrassing for the rest of us who know a thing or two about modern football.

Nor do I think inexperienced ex-Rovers favourites such as Sherwood, Tuggy or Flitty are the way forward. Above all, the club needs stabilising and fast. Unknown quantities are not the way to do that.

Shearer also falls into that category. I also doubt he'd leave his comfy pundit chair and the same goes for Curbishley.

McCarthy and Souness are probably smarter suggestions I've read, and of the two I'd probably prefer Souness. McCarthy looked a bit helpless and almost defeatist when Wolves were struggling in the Prem. I know a fair few Wolves fans who weren't happy with his lack of tactical nouse when under the cosh. Both could work out pretty well though.

I think we'd be better off with the likes of Lee Clarke (now taken), Simon Grayson, Aidy Boothroyd or similar types. Managers that have proven their worth in the lower leagues and would most likely jump at the opportunity to manage us.

Some may question "who'd manage us under the Venky circus," but it's judged relative to what's already on their table. We've been an established Premier League club, we've spent 8mil on one player, we've still got quality in our squad that most teams dream of.

It's not without its risks, Ince would be a good example of the suggestions i've made, but on the flip-side Hughes is another. With the backing of the fans, I think there's a good chance a relatively young, focused and previously successful manager would do well.

Harry will go anywhere for the right money.....and manage under any owners just look at his time at Portsmouth when he left for their bitter enemies Southampton just a few miles away and then went back to Pompey again! He is also not adverse to a bit of publicity about dodgy dealings - so he would fit right in at Ewood! But it would be an 'Advisors' role for him though - not as manager. That will be Sherwood. His footballing knowledge and experience in the game would be invaluable to Rovers, he would be like a breath of fresh air at Ewood.

And BTW there is nothing at all mighty about Weetabix - not going off your posts anyhow.

Whilst I agree that Redknapp or Klinsmann wouldn't come. I see no reason why we shouldn't go for Benitez. He has an outstanding record and most importantly he is settled in the area. Benitez has rejected some top European clubs over a period to allow for his settled family to remain in the Northwest. Benitez and his family have no intention of leaving the area whilst his children are young, so if Benitez fancies getting back into football, then we fit the profile batter than anyone else. Do not make the mistake of aiming so low, when there is such a high calibre manager available, who due to our location, may very well be interested. Separately we don't know the money situation at the club. They have just broken our all time transfer record though and they have signed several players on very competitive contracts, so I wouldn't be so sure as you that Benitez isn't a realistic proposal.

The notion Harry Redknapp would go upstairs with Tim Deadwood in charge is ludicrous (even though I agree he would do almost anything if the money is right.)

Deadwood is an odious man. The players will hate him in 2 months. At least Kean was just a harmless **** artist. Deadwood will be posion and far from a breath of fresh air

Fortunate point today, undeserved but who cares. Murphy was non existent, Olsson not a bar of interest. Whoever takes over has a real job on his hands. Surely we need an experienced manager, this is no time for experimenting. He will need to bring in defenders on loan asap, won't be easy. Then again who would want to work for Venkys? The team selection was poor. Bring on Nunes and Rochina on the wings to provide some pace and creativity and importantly players who can keep the ball and pass the ball round, this means we are not constantly defending and puts our whole team under less pressure.

Also, Murphy, Dann, Orr and Etuhu give the ball away much more than Rochina does, Rochina is just an easy target in that respect.

Rochina scored more goals than Hoilet last seaon if you compare minutes played, in fact, Hoilett only score 2 goals more but played almost every game.

Maybe players like Rochina and Formica should just go as they are talented players and their confidence levels will only be damaged by management who feel more physically solid players who give the ball away more often with less attacking ability will perform better. Eric Black Out!

In my view we need atleast 3 players with strong tecnical ability playing. This could be Nunes, Gomes and Rochina and with Formica as backup, supporting by two solid central mid-fielders (who don't slow them down too much).
