Kean resigns: reaction

Steve Kean Steve Kean

Blackburn Rovers legend Simon Garner insisted Steve Kean “had to go” after the Scot sensationally quit as Ewood boss tonight.

Former striker Garner joined fellow Rovers supporters in welcoming the news, after insisting his position had become untenable.

He said: “It got to the stage where he had to go. He’s been in this position for 12 to 18 months. He was never going to win the fans over.

“I think it’s the way it had to go.

“It seems very strange that he’s done it on a Friday, the day before a game, especially when he held a press conference in the morning.”

Former striker Kevin Gallacher said: “It was a bit of a shock. He said he’s been forced out but the people of Blackburn have been waiting for this.

“A lot of people in the town will be celebrating tonight.

“There were a lot of fans that said they would never come back to Ewood while he was there and the club lost a lot of sponsors.

“For the last 18 months the club has been in a downward spiral. The owners were partly to blame because they came in and didn’t understand football.

“Now he has gone, hopefully the owners have learnt their lesson, and something about football, and can look at the future of the club.”

Blackburn MP Jack Straw said: “This was a wise and overdue move by the club – hopefully we can put this behind us now and move forward.”

Hyndburn MP Graham Jones said: “I am delighted for the supporters who can, probably for the first time in a long time, start to look forward.

“In terms of the manager it has been a dreadful period – his record is the worst of any Rovers manager in history and I think the decision speaks for itself.

“I wouldn’t want to see Alan Shearer or Alan Curbishley in there – Tim Sherwood has been mentioned and at least if he got the job, with his emotional ties, he could fill the ground.”

Blackburn with Darwen council leader Coun Kate Hollern said: “I am glad that the Venky’s have finally seen sense and this will be great news for the club.

“The community can now get behind the club and get us back to where we belong – the Premier League.”

Mark Fish, secretary of the Blackburn Rovers Action Group, said: “We are absolutely delighted – we have been through this for nigh-on two years and have been actively trying to get rid of the manager for the last 12 months.

“It has taken 10,000 people making the painful decision to turn their backs on the club to make this happen.

“It would be great now if we could get 20,000 a game at Ewood and get Rovers back into the Premier League.”

Former Bullseye host Jim Bowen said: “I think it was on the cards. He had to step down.

“He’s done well to retain his dignity this far.

“He has been subjected to some battering.

“I’m not happy about any of the regime at Blackburn at the moment.

“I don’t think they know anything about football.”

Fantastic stuff, and a massive middle finger to all the Kean sympathisers. He was never up to the job and will never manage a club again. He lied to the fans and treated them with contempt, never apologising for relegating us or losing all our good players. What a pathetic excuse for a human being, a yes-man and nothing more.

Yes great news. I am just praying that QPR lose a few more games and give Hughes the chop. Under normal circumstances Hughes wouldn't come back to us, but he has a vastly underwhelming C.V. since he left us. So I don't think coming back to us and working with a small budget will be much of a problem.

Redknapp isn't going to come to us. Yes, he has an excellent record and would be good for us on the football field, but he also seems to demand huge salaries and huge transfer kitties’ wherever he goes. I can't see Venky's agreeing to any of his demands as we are very close to going bust as it is.

What a joke - Kean resigning on a matter of principle! He didn't resign when we got relegated. He didn't resign when he was caught publically slagging off Sam Allardyce. He didn't resign when it became clear he is the most despised and incompetent manager in Blackburn history. No he resigned because a Venky tried to interfere in team affairs.
Is it a coincidence that Danny Murphy is doubtful for tomorrow's game?

Let him take the blood money that will have been the underlining factor to this despicable character. His record considering the blithering idiots boasts never in a million years does it warrant such a massive pay off, and this is what I will remember the odious one for and nothing more.

Tim Sherwood on the other hand was paid handsomely for the success he brought to Blackburn = a natural born winner and leader. If, as the strong link suggests, Sherwood is a serious contender, then I wish him the very best for our beloved, and at least we know we have a guy who will want to succeed and be the winner he was on the pitch.

Never mind this dressing room revolt under Hodgson(albeit twas a nasty piece of business) Sherwood was possibly in a similar situation we have become embroiled in these past two years ?

I asked for a dynamic etc etc type of guy for our embattled club through the week, and now that the odious one as become vapor in the blink of an eye, I can now begin to believe for the above. In my opinion, only this type of character will vitalize re-energize the beloved and, I'm sure get the team organized and ready for battle.

WHAT CAN'T SPEAK CAN'T LIE:-

STEVE KEAN...

Record:-

G W D L %
74 21 16 37 28

Good riddance to bad rubbish!

The season starts tomorrow!!

Rafa Benitez for me.

Experienced - Yes

Available - Yes

Local - Yes

Record as a manager

G W D L %
670 350 163 157 52

And I'd pitch for having Jamie Carragher as his (still playing) assistant.

If we do go for (and get) Sherwood, I'd settle for that. No experience,
yes, but despite this he was captain of the CHAMPIONS. He knows the place, he has talent and more importantly, he did play the game. If Sherwood comes we should ALL accept him with open arms.

SO, the KEAN is dead, who's the next king?

I think that Venky's should use this oppotunity to get all religious and start blowing smoke out of a chimney and then change the colour to blue
and white when they appoint our new leader. -
After all they've blown enough smoke at us already!

Remember what Jack said when he walked through the doors all those years ago.

IT'S TIME TO THINK BIG!!!

BENETEZ is waiting for us to call.

VENKYS need our help, they own us and we won't have them over like they have been had over by people from within this wonderful, yet corrupt game.
THEY'VE FINALLY LISTENED TO THE FANS.

Go and get BENITEZ!!!!!!! He's our Dalai Lama Mrs D.

Just my tuppenth worth ;-)

Don't get me wrong, I'm ecstatic that Kean is out. This is a good win for the fans but I can't help having a bad taste in my mouth for Venky's being "disappointed" of Kean's descision. This only leads me to believe they were never going to fire him. I hope for thier sake they get their thumbs out of their a** and choose a manager who can get us back to the Prem. I hope the rumor of Redknapp coming to us is true. Congrats to all the fans.

From SKY:

lackburn managing director Derek Shaw has revealed that the club¿s owners are disappointed by Steve Kean¿s resignation.

Kean announced his resignation through a statement from his lawyers without informing the club, claiming his position as Rovers boss was 'untenable' and Shaw admits it came as a shock to owners Venky's.

"Steve has, after a great deal of thought, resigned," said Shaw.

"It was completely unexpected. He travelled down with the team ahead of our game at Charlton tomorrow, but he must have been giving it an awful lot of thought owing to the pressure he's been under.

"With the things that have gone on, over weeks and months, he's decided it's in the best interests of himself and the club that it's time to move on.

"I have spoken with spoken with Anuradha Desai (the club owner) and she is very disappointed as she was close with Steve. Owing to time differences, I don't have anything else."

Asked about Kean's claim that he had been forced to resign, Shaw added: "I can't comment on that. He's decided tonight to call it a day, and the thoughts on why are with Steve.

"As everybody knows, every day of the week we're waking up to a fresh Steve Kean story. I think he has done remarkably well to keep plugging away under the pressure he has been under."

Redknapp isn't going to come to us. Yes, he has an excellent record and would be good for us on the football field, but he also seems to demand huge salaries and huge transfer kitties’ wherever he goes. I can't see Venky's agreeing to any of his demands as we are very close to going bust as it is.
Quite right. That is where someone like Keith Hill should be seriously considered. Our problems have not gone just because Steve Kean has disappeared.
He has got a good record in the lower leagues, but then again so had Ince, and look what happened there. The problems we will find are that we are looking for a manager who is a big enough name to attract top players, has got a PROVEN track record, and is willing to come to a championship club and work within a small budget. Compromises need to be made somewhere.

Hill has the record in the lower leagues, but can he attract big names and manage at a higher level? Whilst Shearer or Sherwood perhaps could attract some big names, but have either never managed (Sherwood) or as in Shearer's case had a terrible run of results at Newcastle. And Mick McCarthy another dark horse for the job has spent fortunes at the clubs he has been at, and only achieved mediocre results by and large. My tip or rather forlorn wish was to hope Hughes gets sacked at QPR in the next week or two, and then move for him, but it appears nobody else would want Hughes back, at least on this forum (see above)

Just think about if for a minute. Venky`s - after a lot of fan pressure - wanted to get rid of Kean but didn`t want to pay him off so what better way to try and force him out than start interferring in team selection. Kean could see where this was going and resigned so he could claim constructive dismissal. Clearly Venky`s mindful of this have then had to come out and said they are "disappointed" when the truth is that they are glad they haven`t had to pay him off but may need to defend a possible "constructive dismissal" case from Kean. So don`t get hung up by what Venky`s are saying about being disappointed as they are just working the system against Kean - now isn`t that poetic justice!

Mr Kean's playing a clever game if you ask me. He was going to get the push but jumped just before citing reasons that I would expect are contrary to his contract ie. in his contract he will be solely responsible for picking the team. Therefore Venky's are in breach of contract.

He could of waited to be pushed of course but it looks better on the CV if it says resigned. Rover are currently 3rd in the Championship so that looks OK on the CV also.

Sorry I think the score is now Kean 2 Shaggy 0

The next question is will this result in thousands coming back. I suspect it will in the honeymoon period but when the new man starts to lose games then that will be the real test.

Agree that it`s all "cloaks & daggers" from Venky`s and Kean. However what fans need to realise is that whilst on the face of it Kean resigned he was in reality pushed out the door! He`s trying to save face by resigning plus strengthen any claim he may try & make for constructive dismissal. But beneath all the bluff & bluster he was pushed and as fans we must hold onto this fact as the alternative is to believe that Venky`s were still standing by him which would be unthinkable under the circumstances!

As much as we are all glad about this, when we as fans are considering who we want to run our club, we must remember that we aren’t an automatic choice for promotion. More to the point, if and when we do go up, it will be on the same footing as Reading and Southampton, not as an ‘established’ Premier league club. We have been shafted. Now is the time to get behind the club and the players – and if any player thinks he has signed for Kean, they need to be set straight. But we must get behind the club, the team and push on from now. The new manger is important, but are we behind it regardless– I for one am. 20 years and will renew.

Anyone who thinks Harry Redknapp would come and live up here AND work for those crazy chicken loonies is way way off the mark. It won't happen. (As much as I'd love him at Rovers)
Benitez would.
I hope so....would be an immense appointment...is it a realistic hope though?

The one thing that has become clear over the last 18+ months, is that the fans have more of an idea of how to run this club than Venkys do. However it is Venkys who hold the purse strings. Now either they're asset strippers, or they need our help. If they want to put the assets of our club into one thing then Benitez is it. He would be the best signing of the seaon, and lets face it, there is a history of greatness associated with our aquirement of ex liverpool bosses who left and had a break. There is a world class manager who lives one hour away from Blackburn and he is as happy as a sand man, but bored. Rafeal Benitez is under our noses and he WILL come.

Mr Purple...I think you should be taking a reality pill or two.
We've just broken our all time transfer record and signed our latest legend. This is a Premier League set up, internal management issues aside, we have started the season with points on the board and Venkies are in control. They wanted Beckham, etc,..now they can go for Benitez. Tell me why not?
They wanted Beckham? We got Anthony Modeste.... I'll tell you why not, we have not got the money. Do not mention Rhodes, good signing though he is. Look what we sold to buy him.
The Walker days are long gone. But I see there are some who possibly think we can still readily mix it with the big boys. The sacking of Kean is a step in the right direction, but we are still in a lot of trouble. Especially if Jerome Anderson is really running the show.

Bryan Douglas supporter says...

"Calm down, calm down" - lets not get too excited. Kean's gone, thank God. I saw him walking alone on the front at Lytham last Friday morning (c11.30 a.m.) before the Middlesbrough game. He didn't have his Bodyguard with him and he was on the mobile (probably SK was going to Colin's for a lift). Anyway he was not speaking to anyone on the phone, just listening - perhaps it was Mrs. D picking the team or he could have been ordering a taxi to Ewood. Now he has a taxi out of Ewood, but why was Shaw not aware of it? As for Agnew, is our PR / Director of Communications still alive, haven't heard from him since Shebby came in. Where is the Club's statement? or better still, do they know in India yet? Realistically, the shambolic the way the club is being run is still apparent to everyone outside the Ewood Boardroom. Let's look at what the owners do now; will they appoint a proper Manager or will they promote Hendry? As for Venky's, they were in shock when we were relegated and were taking time to consider things. Are they in shock now? (smelling salts for Mrs. D and tissues and a first class ticket to India for Kean's wife). Be careful what you wish for, everybody. "Keep calm and carry on" - I await developments before the Wolves game (if any).
Allegedly had to rely on his wife to save him from the chop last week (probably got her man the job in the first place). This speaks volumes of the man. He should get no pay off after what he has done to a great club. SHAME ON KEAN, SHAME ON VENKY'S FOR BEING SUCKED IN BY HIM AND HIS FAMILY. NO TO SHERWOOD BTW.....MICK MCARTHY PLEASE!!!

Never have I heard Sherwood have a bad word for BRFC ! Nice piece Mr Anderson....Sherwood is not wanted at Ewood. We want a manager with experience of getting a club promoted...not another free loader. Mick McCarthy please...a no nonsense manager who can organise the defence.

That man is now history, in the past, a distant distasteful memory. I've never shared the belief that Kean gone = 10,000 back though. Kean gone = everything's alright again. The root cause of all the problems at Blackburn has been Venkys, the circus of fools they brought with them and the leeching scum they've dealt with behind the scenes.

Kean's gone but it's one minute step towards this club being anything like it was 24 months ago.

On a football level Rednapp would be great. But he's not our style of person. The circus would continue off the field IMO.

We're in the s--t still and the person we bring in must embody what we want our club to be and relate to what we were pre Venkys. A club steeped in tradition and one that was respected for being a REAL club. No plastic appointments please!

Said this a few days ago, remember Souness? Paraphrasing his words but something like, " this is a real club run for the right reasons "

Must get back to that mentality!!

As for Redknapp & Sherwood can anyone tell me if they have any links at all to SEM? A poor omen if so.

Think Tim would be a risky appointment but will bring back some interest & passion. Just not convinced he's the man for the job. As for Hendry, surely he'll get the chop. But he won't jump that's for sure.

I would like to know what the dressing room think of SK's departure. Untenable works in more ways than one. Top down. Bottom up. Me thinks Steve was being squeezed from both sides. But I am not at all surprised he appears to be jockeying for position and seemingly gunning for an out of court settlement.

All this aside. At least there is something to look forward to more than before. I for one will be at Wolves and hope to be at a party on the terraces too. Long overdue.

Well as. I said in previous posts , about kean quitting and I hope I'm WRONG. But
Will even Severn thousand return to ewood straight away. I don't think so
Many just wanted to see prem football and still looked back on past glory days,
Has kean gone completely from the club, and will the hangers on be leaving too, if not whose to say he will just dictate things from the shadows
And finally Tim sherwood is not the man to take the main role at ewood if he was part of a duo , with a more established manager then maybe, klinsman , redknapp, both who know sherwood,
Or break the bank and get Dalgleish and shearer back and get 13,000 back

I posted this last week..... Please read so you may get some understanding of how fans felt.

I have always tried to make rational judgement calls with regards to Kean, I can understand why fans want to attend and why some fans refuse to go to Ewood. Personally I have wanted him sacked since the Bolton defeat at home and I have never had any reason to change my mind.

Lets take a look at what is happening to our beloved BRFC..

Kean gets us relegated.
Statistically one of the worse mangers in BRFC history.
Statistically one of the worst managers in English history at this level
He has caused a split between the fans.
He is causing major embarrassment to BRFC.
He is causing major embarrassment to the fans of BRFC
He is causing major embarrassment to the town of Blackburn.
Sections of the media are having a go at BRFC fans because of him
The general public are having a go at BRFC fans because of him.
He has dragged BRFC to the gutter and is squeezing the life out of us.

AND YET

This person is sticking two fingers up in the face of every BRFC fan and townspeople of Blackburn, that is the measure of the man. Kean has not shown one ounce of dignity, he knows that if he walked away from the club then a healing process could begin for the fans, fans can unite, the club can begin a new chapter and Blackburn can start looking forward to a new period and BRFC would be in the spotlight for the right reasons and yet Keane refuses to do that and for that I absolutely despise the man and everything about him. This man is laughing in our faces and at our club, if he remotely cared about BRFC and the fans he would have resigned months ago, Kean is laughing all the way to the bank at our expense.

All Blackburn fans now need to act, a total boycott is needed for the next home match to show the world we are united and that we want this joke of a manager out of our club, our town and our lives for good.

One other thing, the man has never ever said sorry, if you are a football fan you will understand the upset and frustration of having this man in our club. Shame on you for your comments on something you obviously know very little about.

There are some dilluded idiots commenting after the resignation of Kean. Do you think any manager with any self respect is going to join you while the Vekys' are in charge. Rednapp? You must be having a laugh! You will get another inexperienced manager in Tim Sherwood (and good luck to him) coz no other experienced manager will go near you! Get rid if the Venk's and then you can start celebrating!

Now we're just being silly.

"He who shall be nameless" may well have advised him to go and how to handle it, hence Kean's comment about "legal reasons" - for that read "negotiating my compensation package", but running the show and sacking his own client?

That just doesn't make sense.

On another subject; there are woryying comments being made by Shaw about the owners being disappointed. I know they can't glory in it like us but they could have been a little more vague - neither gushing praise and disappointment nor joy and relief at him getting them out of a hole.

Y'know, "Steve has made his own decision and we will abide by that. I would like to thank him for his efforts since we have been here but we now need to look forward etc etc etc"

They couldn't manage that, even on one of the few occasions a bit of BS would actually have been appropriate.

Sorry mate but it's clear from your comment that you don't have a clue about what been going on at Ewood under Kean's time as manager.
It's what happens when people only read the headlines.

He probably thinks Orwell's 1984 is just an old diary.

Nice piece Mr Anderson....Sherwood is not wanted at Ewood. We want a manager with experience of getting a club promoted...not another free loader. Mick McCarthy please...a no nonsense manager who can organise the defence.
smelly (small 's' for a small boy) you really are a first rate plonker...I usually try to desist from slagging any fans off on here but if you are a Rovers fan then you really are a deluded one.
Road Runner (aka Woody) is one of the staunchest and most loyal Rovers fans I know and to childishly call him 'Anderson' shows just how pathetic and anti-Rovers like you really are.

I had the pleasure to be at Ashton Gate with Woody to see the sound 5-3 win - and enjoyed true celebrations at the final whistle. I can only guess you were thinking-up your next pointless and childish poison pen post at the time. Either grow-up and say something constructive or go join your mate Kean on the exodus into the wilderness.

I can completely understand where you are coming from David and I have read and thought your comments through of which some I tend to agree, what I do not understand however is the misguided opinion that Blackburn should have a better win record than Keane had given you . You were punching well above your weight for the ten years previous and that was always going to correct itself . Unfortunately it do so under SK's management . It was the bullying that the general public didn't like , and personally I found it deplorable . When your team scores and you 'boo' it paints a pretty horrific picture . This is the reason why the media have targeted BR fans. Lets be honest with each other and agree that it's not SK's fault , it's the venkys. A ludicrous ideology from the start (they targeted a top four finish in the first year if I remember correctly) and aside from spending a few quid on relatively decent players this summer have not put a foot right . The way I feel is that SK has been the scapegoat in all of this as he was the visual representation of the club with the Venkys never being in touching distance . I also understand the irony of a NUFC fan commenting on a club perceiving it is bigger than it is .

Kean is history - all parts of the club have to work together for a better future - it wont happen overnight because we have lost players with Premier League quality - who should never have been let go

Kean alienated his players that was why he failed and there was little evidence this season that he had addressed the main problem - a team that could defend as a unit. Forget all the personal issues - yesterday summed up the guy perfectly - in the morning all was postive with Venkys . In the evening he had resigned - how can that be ? one could nt be sure of what was being said was my belief.

As for the next Manager he will never be 100% choice of the fans but All must get behind him and the players and restore trust and dignity within the club. If Venkys give him support like they have Kean and provide the cash then whether we like Venkys or not doesnt matter - bit like the Glaziers at Man U - while alls well its not a problem

Ole Gunner Solskaer for me would be good option - some experience youthful and ambitious - I would not rule out Simon Grayson either

Realistically I think we can rule out redknapp and as venkys always want to go with option cheap they may just go with what they have, but thats how we got in this mess. Then there is Sherwood who again is untried, for me I'd prefer Grayson or Dicanio as my top two.

Hope that the Rovers fans are prepared for a rough ride this season. Getting rid of Keane is not going to solve all the problems, it is only a start. We have a poor defense which can only be addressed in the next transfer window. Managers on their own don't win games, no matter who is brought in to the hot seat. Will the talked about rise in attendances be sustained if we see more performnces like the M'boro game?

lackburn managing director Derek Shaw has revealed that the club¿s owners are disappointed by Steve Kean¿s resignation.

Shaw is obviously deluded too!!!

What a joke - Kean resigning on a matter of principle! He didn't resign when we got relegated. He didn't resign when he was caught publically slagging off Sam Allardyce. Is it a coincidence that Danny Murphy is doubtful for tomorrow's game?
Didn't like being told who to pick ... which is wierd, cos Jordan would have made a banging left back.

Thank god Kean has gone but as usual under a 'cloud' and not a clear cut decision by the Venkys who seem incapable of making professional and well thought out moves!!!!
Just hope that they now take stock of Keans cohorts that are left at the club and if possible think through a strategy that will put in place the right team to take the club forward.
It will be interesting to see what statement they put out about yesterdays events - dont think we'll get any sense from Keans mates Shaw and Agnew who equally should be scrutinized as to whether they are the right people for the job.
KEAN GONE NOW OUT WITH HENDRY AGNEW SINGH AND VENKYS BUT IN THE INTERIM HOPEFULLY THE FANS BACK TO SUPPORT THE TEAM.
ps RUinsane - insane as usual!!!

You are absolutely correct insofar as this is all of Venkys doing, but Kean was complicit in everything which has happened (at last, we can use the past tense).

Venky's business plan was to have one person effectively running the shop, reporting back to them. This was how they ran their other outlets or satellite businesses.

Disastrously, inexplicably, Kean was the man they chose.

We won't go into how he became that man; let’s just say he took advantage of a favourable set of circumstances. That is another story but one which has cast doubt over his integrity if nothing else. So, despite being a totally inexperienced manager, probably because of it, he allowed himself to go along with the owners’ hair brained plan. He has continued to be their spokesman ever since, spouting their lies; even their distorted view of the club’s recent history.

And please don't fall into the trap of believing all this "dignity" $hite we keep hearing.

Being described as dignified in the context of football management isn’t much of a compliment when you consider how low the “dignity” bar is set in that profession.

How "dignified" is accusing a fellow manager (although he should never have been a fellow manager) of being a "f'ing" crook? To name but one of his many less than dignified moments.

Even without his appalling record, he deserved all the stick he got.

Venkys are now reaping what was sown two years ago when they drove out the existing club officials due to their hair brained idea they could run a football club like one of their poultry processing plants or poor man's KFC outlets. They still have little or no grasp of how to run a football club which remains in an unbelievable mess; a mess everyone has seen coming for the last 12-18 months over which time a whole heap of d@mning information has come out.

Yes, we are a small provincial club which has been punching above its weight. But we had been for ten years due to the people who were in charge over that period.

Of course there are Rovers fans who think we are bigger or more important than we are - which football fan doesn't have a biased view of their own club? That is surely what defines a football fan.

The size of the club or number of supporters is irrelevant. We are not obliged to sit by quietly and watch our club being dismantled just because we are a small club with only a few fans.

That is just nonsense.

Relegation is always a very real threat for clubs of our size and it was almost inevitable we would be relegated at some time. It's just there was no reason it should have come so soon.

There is a huge difference however between going down and visibly, obviously, blatantly being taken down. Hello again stupid, or should I call u stu for short? I understand your dissapointment at seeing your boss leave, but the club must go on from strength to strength hopefully. Maybe you should go back to whatever you did before this season started, it's probrbly more suitable, football isn't you bag. Good luck whatever you decide and, keep stupid.
That is seven games out of 46 remember. That leaves more games to go than we had all last year.

Funny, I would think being third after only seven games should be used in the context of it being early days rather than an endorsement of Kean's "achievement".

The third place thing will be thrown back at us if the new manager fails to finish in the top two, but it is irrelevant.

The performances were still the same; slow disorganised, defensively fragile. Our record over the last two years also suggests we would fall away the longer the season went on - it's happened in each of the seasons Kean has been in charge. Why should it change this year?

Stop bleating on about 3rd place and seven games. What about the previous 67 games of which we lost 37? The next manager can't possibly screw things up because he will be a manager, not an average coach who got lucky by manipulating and worming himself into a position he was clearly way out of his depth in. This is probably the same media trail that said Kean needed a body guard when in fact no-one had been anywhere near him except for Nzonzi who kicked his ****. He needed a body guard from his own playing staff. Robinson hated the tool When we got relegated only Hoilett and Nzonzi left. Nzonzi hadn't played for us since the last 5 games of the season. Kean says, he has the strangest injury we have ever seen, he may never play again, we have sent him to New zealand to get treatment off the New zealand rugby medical team because his injury is so bad its more like a rugby injury. While he is there Ryan will have o ask himself some serious questions about his career, but we are all routing for him. He later signed for Spurs and went straight in the first team. This was our club captain. Ryan Nelsen had previously stated he only ever wanted to play for one team and Rovers was all he knew. So you put two and two together and you get LIES LIES LIES. Most of the players who left, went when we were in the premier league, not when we were relegated So go away you MORON, you nothing about us except what sky has told you. Don't forget RU he was apparently "assaulted" at the training ground by an irate fan, according to the papers of course.

It was later revealed the "assault" consisted of a bloke walking into reception, asking to speak with Kean, being told he wasn't available and walking back out again.

Sorry Rodney, that's just the kind of evil ingrates we are. It is the cross we must bear.

Yakubu went as well in the Summer, by the way, but good reply RU - apart from the "moron" bit. We are always going to be on a loser if people only read the headlines.

Wait for the campaign to portray Kean as the victim goes into overdrive; it's already started. "My position had become untenable" my ar$e.

Understand with fans booing when we scored and the Yakubu going over to Kean and getting boo-ed incident that really put fans in bad light too, but the media seemed to forget that there are always a few bad apples in the crowd and it wasnt all the fans doing the inappropriate boo-ing. I myself heckled Kean and joined in the Kean out chants when we were playing crap and he was doing his Fergie gum chewing impression, looking completely at sea as to what to do to change the tempo of the game which rightly exasperated supporters and led to the inevitable Kean Out chants.

There will still be those who will keep trying to bring up conspiracy theories and calling for Venky's to go, thats just the way it is, but in the light of the fact that Kean has finally gone - the number one priority that all fans agreed with - its time to get behind the team and forget our differences and disagreements and rally behind whoever comes in.

I also understand the irony of a NUFC fan commenting on a club perceiving it is bigger than it is .[/p]
Everyone could see it unfolding in front of their very eyes and what had to be done to try and stop it. Rovers may still have gone down last year regardless of the manager, but it is the failure to act and the reasons they didn’t which stick in the craw.[/p]
Well put. And totally agree. No more boo-ing. No more in-fighting please. Let it go. Let's get behind our team and SUPPORT them to get us back the Premier League! RTID. blueblooded

Will the talked about rise in attendances be sustained if we see more performnces like the M'boro game?
It would be unusual if it was. We don't even know how big the rise in attendances may be - I'd guess at about 6000 max.

However, it is the prospect of NOT seeing more performances like 'boro which alone make this a time to rejoice.

KEAN RESIGNS ON LEGAL ADVICE
Steve Kean dramatically resigned at 5.30 pm on Friday.
But with all things Kean it was not so simple as it seems.
Whilst all sports channels both TV and radio had pundits, personality’s and former players all queuing up to express their sympathy for Kean and the treatment he has had to endure these past weeks, the true picture is much different.
In a meeting earlier on Friday with chief executive Derek Shaw and Director Paul Agnew, Kean had expressed his determination to carry on regardless. Despite the damage his continued presence was doing to the club and more important the attendances, Kean had every intention of riding out the storm with the full backing of Shaw and Agnew, and had hoped to oust his arch enemy Shebby Singh.
Kean knew that Singh himself was getting frustrated and disillusioned in his efforts to remove Kean and bring in a new manager. With the Rao family continually stalling and being indecisive (so what’s new) Singh was considering his position.
However Kean’s position changed in mid-afternoon after allegedly taking a phone call from his agent Jerome (the man who ruined Blackburn Rovers) Anderson and his legal team.
Kean was advised to resign, saying his position was “untenable” and poignantly added that he could not say any more “for legal reasons”.
Those reasons, I can reveal, are that Kean is to sue the Venky Company and the Rao family for constructive dismissal and squeeze every penny that he can from them.
Mrs Anuradha Desai is about to see Kean in his true colours. She is going to learn about Kean what we all know, and that is that Kean is a very devious man.
Mrs Desai has issued a statement saying “she is disappointed with Kean’s action”. She is going to get a lot more disappointed as Kean plans to plunder the family fortune. And he will succeed.
The evidence of this last week is stacked in favour of Kean as the situation could not have been more badly handled by the Venky’s.
The solution was quite simple but Mrs Desai refused to grasp it. She should have sacked Kean and pay up his contract. Venky’s had every justification to do so, his record is appalling, the worst Blackburn manager ever and lost half the fans (Venky’s customers) from the club.
No arguments, no legal action for wrongful dismissal, a straight forward uncomplicated procedure. Kean would not have had a case or reason to complain.
But no, Venky’s huffed and puffed particularly Mrs Desai and played into Kean and Anderson’s hands. It will cost her a fortune, serves her right, but it will impact on Rovers financial stability. I have warned Mrs Desai on several occasions that Kean would ‘bite the hand that fed him’, but she has ignored all advice from everyone.
In one National newspaper today Kean talks of being “stabbed in the back”. That’s rich coming from Kean, if he wants to talk about being stabbed in the back, give Sam Allardyce a call and ask him what it’s like.
Mrs Anuradha Desai has ‘egg on her face’ big time. She has given Kean wealth beyond his wildest dreams. Kean, a ‘jobbing coach’, hit the jackpot at the Rovers. Never could he have envisaged earning the salary he has been paid as an imposter at the Rovers, a reported £1.3 million per annum.
Now he is going to ‘bite the hand that fed him’.
Mrs Desai, you have been stitched up! As I have repeatedly warned you Kean would.
And now Kean is going to squeeze you dry.
ENJOY.
Reg.
Footnote:
May I respectfully suggest to Mrs Desai that she has no more dealings with Jerome Anderson and his agency and listens more to her brothers Ventkatesh and Balaji but more so Shebby Singh, who in a short space of time has picked up on the mood of the supporters, something she has never done. It would not be a bad idea to take more note of Andy Cryer in the Lancashire Telegraph and Reg of course!!

Reg...the most Kean can hope for is the pay up of his contract....so why would Venky's sacking him and paying up his contract put them in a healthier financial position? It's up to Kean to go and prove his situation was made untenable by Venky's...to be fair to Venky's...they didn't!! They can only be guilty of over-supporting if anything. He can hardly take the fans to a tribunal can he?? Mrs Desai is soon to learn that Mrs Keane's friendship was as plastic as her husband's ability to manage a football team.

Friday Evening at 5 oclock
In the Evening

Silently closing the team room door
Leaving a note that he
Hoped would say more

He goes downstairs
To the kitchen
Clutching his Press Release

Quietly turning the back door key
Out of Ewood he is free

KEAN......
IS LEAVING.......
HOME......

Kean's leaving home after living a lie
For so many years
Bye.....Bye

Shebby snores as his wife
gets into her dressing gown
Picks up the letter
That's lying there
Standing alone at the
Top of the stairs

She breaks down
and cries to her husband
"Shebby our baby's gone!"

Why would he treat us so thoughtlessly?
How could he do this to me?

KEAN....(we never thought of ourselves)
IS LEAVING...(Never a thought for ourselves)
HOME (we plucked chickens all our lives to get by)

Kean's leaving home after
living a lie for so many years
Bye.....bye

Saturday afternoon at 3 oclcok
Kean is far away
Waiting to keep the appointment he made
Meeting a man from the motor trade

KEAN - (what did we do that was wrong?)
IS DRIVING (he doesn't know it is wrong)

Ten pints inside is why

By staying away you got Kean out within 7 matches...but now you're all going to go back.

Bad move.

Deep down you know what the right course of action is but I haven't read a single person on here point out what is so blindingly obvious.

Why not ALL stay away ?

Then the Venkys would disappear pronto. Bish bosh

If the Venkys start messing us fans about then we will take action against them, we have seen for our own eyes that boycotting games does actually work, probably best to just buy a ticket for each game and see what develops, because buying a season ticket or half season ticket, would be playing into their hands.
