Spanish ace Salgado hits out at Rovers atmosphere and says Venky’s must change
7:26am Thursday 27th September 2012 in Football
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
MICHEL Salgado has branded the atmosphere hanging over Ewood Park as “insane” after appealing with owners Venky’s to bring the sense back to the football club.
The former Blackburn Rovers defender has kept a dignified silence on the shambolic end to his time at Ewood last season but has now urged the club’s owners to act decisively to sort the current mess out.
Steve Kean’s future remains shrouded in uncertainty, with Venky’s understood to have decided the Scot needs to be relieved of his managerial duties and having already started the search for a new boss.
It is believed the club were ready to announce his dismissal on Monday morning until it was put on hold at the 11th hour for unknown reasons.
Kean is now likely to still be in charge for Saturday’s Championship trip to Charlton, with co owner Balaji Rao not leaving India until the end of the Lord Ganesh Festival at the weekend at the earliest.
The delay and uncertainty has only furthered angered large sections of Rovers fans, who have been calling for Kean’s head for months.
Some supporters are now threatening a boycott of the next home game against Wolves and, with attendances already dwindling, Ewood Park officials are fearing financial problems unless Kean is removed quickly.
Venky’s are remaining tight lipped on the situation but are understood to have targeted Spurs coach and Rovers’ Premier League skipper Tim Sherwood as the ideal replacement.
Kean himself was understood to have been in London yesterday as he continues to cling to his job.
Former Real Madrid legend Salgado, who spent three seasons at Ewood, was frozen out of first team affairs due to contractual reasons during the last campaign at Rovers before leaving in the summer.
The fans favourite has remained in touch with events at Rovers though and now, through Twitter, has hit out at the current farce.
He said: “I want the sense back to Rovers and this atmosphere is insane. Someone inside has to step on and change things.
“Nothing makes sense. If Venky’s want to stay they must get an English executive chief with experience in Premier League and give him power to make decisions.
“The second step is the new chief must decide whether Kean is the right man for the job or not. He must know that the atmosphere with fans is untenable.
“They must realize everybody is talking about Kean when the only important thing is Rovers. Nowadays Rovers equals Kean for football's world.
“I'm in touch with the lads and they are being as professional as they can in this situation. The fans are getting tired and that's dangerous.”
Salgado is currently working in the media.

Getting JW would be an absolute coup and if the new supporters trust has any clout then it should use it to bring back him and Tom Finn et al.
However can you see JW leaving City or any of them working for this shower of muppets.

This says that this circus is getting to them. For the sake of the team Venky's you need to sack Kean ASAP! And Venkys if you sack Kean, team mrale will improve, gate attendances will increase and you will get more money! - The only thing it ppears you are interested in! Basic business!

Messrs Mullan and Littler take notice. I've been saying this for over a year, but supporters are still blindly buying season tickets and feeding a dying animal.

Monday National newspapers were full of the news that Steve Kean was about to be sacked for not achieving 16 points from a possible 21 in Rovers opening 7 games.
I don’t believe a word of it – Monday came and went and Kean is still here with a statement from Ewood Park saying “his position is being monitored”.
What is to monitor? The man has to go.
The points total is a smoke screen. Kean was never set a total of 16 points, the 14 he has accumulated and a third placed position in the League table are acceptable at this stage of the season.
I know that and the Ewood hierarchy know that.
The reason they want rid of Kean, and they do, is they have been rocked to the core by the attendances at Rovers opening league games.
In their arrogance they never envisaged such a large drop in support and revenue.
The supporters have spoken; they are not coming and will not return whilst Kean is there.
You can only ignore the fans for so long, as Mrs Anuradha (I like to be entertained) Desai has done. She has ignored the fans for too long and now they have gone.
PANIC HAS SET IN AT EWOOD PARK.
Season ticket sales are at a all-time low, attendances are at a all-time low. There is no sponsorship of any substance and cooperate hospitality is almost none existent.
ROVERS ARE A CLUB IN FREE FALL.
Newly appointed directors, Derek Shaw, Paul Agnew, and Shebby Singh now fear for their jobs as Mrs Desai (pic above) considers cost saving costs.
So no smoke screen please about point targets, the issue is all about finance and the problem is Kean and he has to go.
WHAT IS THERE TO MONITOR.

Steve Kean is refusing to go quietly – as Rovers advisor Shebby Singh, (pic above) tries to talk him into taking a behind the scenes job.
The Blackburn boss took training yesterday despite the latest attempt to oust him.
Singh is planning to offer Kean a lesser post at the Rovers in a bid to avoid giving him a lump sum pay-off.
Kean would be due around £500,000 in compensation if sacked. Kean is determined to cling onto his £1.3 million pound per annum job or make the Venky’s pay him full compensation for dismissal.
Cash strapped Venky’s are hesitating over a compensation package hence Kean’s continued survival much to Singh’s frustration. It could be a war of wills, who goes first Kean or arch enemy Singh.

Footnote:
Can anyone tell me why newly appointed Gobal advisor Shebby Singh is not named in the Rovers list of officials in the match day programme?
Even Robert (not ft for purpose) Coar is still listed as a director.
Could it be fans favourite, Shebby Singh’s stay is to be a brief one?
It will if Kean has anything to do with it.

Steve Kean (pic above) has destroyed the very fabric of Blackburn Rovers FC during his 18 month reign.
On attending the Barnsley match last Tuesday, my first visit to Ewood of the season made reluctantly due to Kean’s continued presence, I was struck how much Kean with the help of Jerome Anderson and the Rao family have turned Ewood Park into a unhappy, unpleasant place to watch football.
The atmosphere was even more depressing than last season during the relegation campaign.
There were no protests, it was worse than that, total apathy and disinterest from Rovers lowest gate for 20 years, 12,777 spectators, who probably felt the need to be there even though they didn’t want to be. The attendance is a legacy of Kean’s reign and Venky’s ownership.
There is no joy at Ewood anymore just mistrust and apathy. The whole place and everyone in it is full of doom and gloom. No one enjoys the ‘craick’ anymore; no one takes any pleasure in a Rovers game. All everyone wants is for the Kean reign to end and end now.
The mood is reflected onto the pitch, the team were dreadful, Barnsley should have won at a canter so superior were they.
Rovers new players must be saying to themselves “what am I doing here” support for the team is patchy at best. What supporters are left do not have the stomach for rousing support. Kean has killed everyone’s enthusiasm stone dead.
Not only has he lost 50% of Rovers support YES 50%, he is destroying what is left.
How can he still be in his job with a win % of 28%? And that is boosted by this season’s 4 wins in the Championship.
During Sam Allardyce’s 2 years in charge average gates were 24,999 YES 25,000, one of the best ratio to % of population in the Premiership.
But when Mrs Anuradha Desai on the advice of her ‘adviser’ Jerome Anderson sacked Allardyce on 13th December 2010 all that was about to come to an end. On that fateful day, 13th December 2010, Rovers were placed 10th in the Premiership and just 3 points from the top 5. Mrs Desai said and I quote “Blackburn Rovers should be in the top 4 and playing in Europe, the football is not entertaining and I like to be entertained”. I kid you not that is what she said, it is well documented, and for a woman who had never watched a football match in her life it was quite an amazing statement. Someone obviously ‘put the words in her mouth’, allegedly Jerome Anderson possibly Steve Kean who have both in the course of events denied any knowledge of Allardyce’s demise. WELL THEY WOULD WOULD’NT THEY.
Rovers supporters don’t come out of the Allardyce sacking with much credit. The protests were muted as expectations of millions to spend on the team and the hint of the appointment of a marque manager took over from common sense.
Allardyce as manager equals Premiership survival. Only this website protested long and loud, warning what was to come and being denounced by all and sundry. Well I am still here with 50,000 followers and proven right in every instance. Browse my website over the past 18 months. It is all there, the mistakes, the lies, the disasters, the decline of Blackburn Rovers football club.
That 10th place Premiership position on the 13th December 2010 could quite possibly never be achieved again for decades to come. Rovers could face years and years in the wilderness under Kean and the Venky’s.
Don’t scoff even further relegation could follow.
A NEW MANAGER COULD CHANGE ALL THAT.
It is obvious to everyone, why not to Mrs Anuradha Desai?

I was willing to give Kean a chance because I hated the Allardyce style, still do, but Kean should have been sacked long before the end of last season.
.
I hear rumours of a boycott for the Wolves home game but can't find anything about it.
.
I am more than willing to turn up at the ground for the game, and many more after if necessary, but not go in.
.
But that needs everyone who has turned up this season to at least consider doing the same.
We can't go on like this any longer.

Sherwood may have been good as our captain, but his experience since he stopped playing dosn't justify him becoming our manager. It could be another Paul Ince, or worse. Too risky. Our biggest problem - what decent manager would come to work in this crazy situation ?

He deserves this position. Well done Steve.
