Blackburn Rovers Blog: Time to use the loan system

I CAN’T understand the point of not taking advantage of the loan window.
Surely there is somebody out there with experience who we would be able to bring in.
We have a big squad at the moment, and we have some real talent, but we appear to be relying on a lot of unproven players.
As I said last week, our defence doesn’t look strong enough.
Some said, ‘but we’ve just signed this Henrique guy, and he’s a defender’.
Well that’s all well and good, but nobody knows who he is – even Steve Kean, if his claims of never having seen him play are to be believed.
That leaves us with Scott Dann and Gael Givet as recognised centre backs. Grant Hanley should do a job when he is match fit, but he is still up and coming.
In the full back positions we’ve got the Olsson twins and Bradley Orr.
There’s Jason Lowe, but he’s not really a full back, Bruno Ribeiro, who has done surprisingly well so far but shouldn’t be considered a first choice.
Adam Henley is still unproven, while Josh Morris, who is now 20, seems to have been forgotten about.
All the focus during the transfer window seemed to be on getting strikers in.
Leon Best and Jordan Rhodes cost a lot of money but it would make sense to loan in an experienced defender that has found themselves on the periphery of a top flight team and then spend good money on someone in January.
One idea that has been mentioned to me is that in this league you don’t need four in defence.
Buy a top quality defender on silly money and play three at the back with two attacking full backs, Murphy, Etuhu and Gomes or Dunn with two strikers. Bang. No stopping us.
n I have been really pleased with Nuno Gomes since he came in.
Rovers fans have been blessed over the past few years with classy Europeans strutting their stuff.
If a player is good enough, they never lose that class.

What Kean doesn't know about decending won't be covered by Hendry either, so promotion is pretty much guaranteed. Why worry? Madame Decides.

So eight point form four games he has accumilated.
Eight points still required to save his pathetic lying arse.
He needs to win all the remaining three then.
So Shebby, a draw at Bristol City and hes gone then.
Its D day Shebby, are you true to your word or you just another puppet.
10K back when Kean gets the sack.

Stephen Warnock would be a perfect target imo, on the fringe at Villa, getting a bit slow for the Prem but still with loads left in the tank and great experience, plus he was awesome at Rovers first time round and loved the club. This would mean the Ollsons could fight over left wing and we'd not have to rely on Hanley, and I'd bet Givet would play well with him again.
Why can Hendry not even influence these things? what is the point in bringing in a defensive coach if he's not going to strengthen the defence?? I really was quite against those who said he was just brought in to boost Kean's credibility and because he was his mate but it's hard to see what influence he is having on the defence, being that the biggest concern there is simply the lack of quality options.

I cannot see more than 2k reappearing if they sack Kean as we still aren't in the Premiership only that will bring the glory seekers back. The parking and getting in is just like the good old days when we played in front of 8500 every week and had decent managers to boot! Why did we only have 8500 going and a decent manager you may ask? Answer we werent playing Man U,Arsenal and Liverpool that is why Kean has nothing to do with the massive fall in attendencies its all about being in the top league..
2K back if hes sacked, your having a laugh. It would be 5K at least and would gradually build up if we employed a tried and tested manager who was given total autonomy.
Top of the championship with a descent manager is far better for fans then bottom of the premership with a complte tosser in charge.

bburnrover wrote:Disagree entirely. The attendances will obviously be down when you get relegated but a fall of around 50% attendance between leagues? How many clubs experience that? At the price of £225 for a season ticket, with a good manager and promise of investment Ewood could easily have reached the 20k avg attendance mark.

If you still disagree go and look at the other club attendances in the championship, Rovers are around 5th bottom with one of the higher capacity stadia.

we will only get away with this if we batter teams, sitting back will lead to draws at best and defeats at worst.

As for our defence, we should easily have signed another 2 CB's and a LB or two, however we know this wont happen as it would look like a sign of weakness on Keans part. He doesnt admit he is wrong and defence is what got us relegated so he is certainly not going to up and purchase multiple new ones.

Kean is relying on pllcks like you to keep him in a job. Hope you're pleased with your efforts to keep him at the club.

You may as well have wrote. It's the transfer window, let's buy some new players.
If the right players are not available on loan then there is no point loaning anybody.
And as for playing three at the back - it has never worked and never will. You end up with five in defence most of the time as the full backs don't have a clue what to do.

Our team now in one focus - Win back to top fight, So no trail needed in this journey. So get defender and rotate the players with good fitness in defence too. This is a difficult game in championship, every week two or three main games comes and cannot feild all your quality players always.
Scott Dann is doing good, but one error of back pass to robbo in the last match, makes the game change. such error from a center back is not acceptable, So we need to improve in each game to avoid more errors.
Any way Kean is FIXED for a long journey with Venky and Happy to see his courage to build the team with the strom from fans and he is wining each game too.
All the best to Rovers players, Hope Rhodes/Gomes/Kazim will upfront for the next match and Rochina will play after 65 mts of the match for gomes. Best wishes.

Its not about results, its not about the Premier league. Its about BRFC and our long term future.
Sack Kean and there will be a massive upturn in ST sales and attendances, you might not be able to park as easy but the atmosphere in Ewood would more than make up for it.

Nowhere has the rise of the owner-manager been more acutely felt than at Blackburn Rovers were the influence of bogus advisors and board room pig-headedness led to the demise of one manager, Sam Allardyce, and the appointment of an inferior replacement, resulting in relegation. Now Steve Kean confesses he has not even seen three of his deadline-day signings play live, having come as recommendations from Blackburn’s global advisor Shebby Singh (pic above).
It is dangerous enough when these owner-manager schemes are headed up by men like Roman Abramovich, who provide the investment to support their whims, when it is the mere work of stooges, calamity awaits.
But is Shebby Singh to blame, Kean indicates the players were signed on Shebby’s say so.
Why has Kean come out with this statement? He knew it would receive ridicule in the National press or was that Kean’s purpose? Judging on Kean’s past exploits I suspect it was.
Let me ask you all a question. When Rovers scattergun player recruitment policy was in operation last season, and Rovers signed a ‘ load of dross’ resulting in relegation, do you think for one minute Kean actually saw most of those signing’s play. No he did not.
He has already stated that he was burdened with players “not of his choice” as he played his usual blame game following relegation.
Then who did sign those players and bring them to the club, none other than Jerome (the man who ruined Blackburn Rovers) Anderson including his son Myles (yet to kick a ball for the Rovers) Anderson. Did Kean go to the National press then?. No he did not. Because Kean knows he is beholding to Anderson for having landed the Rovers job in the first place.
But Shebby Singh is another matter. If things go wrong, as they will, Shebby will get the blame. He is a convenient scape goat for Kean.
Kean plays a waiting game. He did it with Paul Hunt, successfully removing him Ewood Park six months after Hunt wanted Kean sacking. Kean wants rid of Shebby Singh.
Shebby you are up against a slippery, conniving opponent.
BEWARE.
