Nzonzi completes Stoke City move as Goodwillie leaves on loan
10:49pm Friday 31st August 2012 in Football
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
STEVEN Nzonzi has completed a move to Stoke City this evening after a bid from the Potters was finally accepted by Blackburn Rovers .
The French midfielder had been frozen out at Ewood Park after handing in a transfer request, with Rovers having accepted a bid in the region of £3.5million, rising to £5m, this evening.
Striker David Goodwillie has also left Ewood Park this evening, signing for Crystal Palace on loan until January.

Goodwillie was a prolific goalscorer before he came to Ewood - will Rhodes be any different and judging by Tottenham paying £6M for Clint Dempsey who is a proven goalscorer at the top level - have Rovers paid over the odds here.
Kean has no more excuses its his team his buys and if he doesnt succeed it must be him out of the door at Ewood - no question about it

I think Jordan Rhodes is a great signing but when you look that Dempsey has only cost £6m, Lambert was available from Southampton for only £4m and Billy Sharp was available on a season long long for FREE - then we've definately over paid.
Sad to see Goodwillie go - £3.5m only a year ago and now gone on loan to one of the divisions smallest and most boke clubs - surely him and Petrovic will go down as our biggest ever "Laural and Hardie" signings - £6.5m the pair and they only lasted a year and we've virtully had to give both of them away just to get rid of them.
Glad to see Ollson staying (unless it goes through at last min) because having watched his brother getting skinned time after time on Tues at MK - well, truth is, without him we simply don't have a left back at the club able to play at the standard required, if we want to be at the top end of the table.
Overall, we'll lost some really good players but we could have lost more and we've bought some good players (real shame about Leon Best) and we've bought some has-beens and some Portugese never beens but over all - probably better then we could have really expected.

The sales sanctioned by Venkys would still have happened with the possible exception of Samba who lets face it thought he would walk into a top four club and ended up having to lower his sites and go for the roubles. Jones was always going to go and not many turn down Man U (Alan Shearer twice excepted.) Yak was a good bit of business as he has always succumbed to second season syndrome wherever he has been. Similiarly of all the people who wanted to leave the club in the summer the club have not been fighting off bids. It is now down to Robbo , Givet , Dann & Ollson to show how much they really want to play in the Prem by getting the Rovers back up.

It's the most fraudulent excuse for a club, throwing out excellent players and bringing in loads of average ones, and some fans are satisfied.
What a downgrade.
This lot will not win any league, even though they have some of yesterday's heroes. One of the most expensive teams in the league, and they keep a known flop in control, bottom half at Christmas.

Absolutely beyond all belief.
It's just a shame that we couldn't have loaned him out instead so when finally Kean runs out of excuses, the new manager could have started again with him.
The main concern I have is Kean's (dis)ability to get the best out of the 'best/most talented' players.I still think that with a decent run of games Goodwillie may have come good.To be fair to him he was never given that chance.Kean starting Edinho last week was Kean cutting his nose off to spite his face. Also any coach worth his salt should be able to get a tune out of Rochina who clearly has skill in abundance and as he briefly demonstrated last year an eye for goal too.The only players he does seem to have onside are those in the twilight of their career who know they wouldn't get a contract elsewhere like they are on now so are prepared to lick his a*se.
Finally I just pray that we are positive today and play two up top and don't flood the midfield with 'pensioners'...

Nzonzi is a player that will play well with a good team not like last year when it was obvious that he gave up when the chips were down. Goodwille is a overated player who did not come up to expectations hopefully with pressure off and playing for a decent manager may improve his game.

That's not to say they should come out with an Orr-esque statement of support - that would mean nothing if they didn't then stand up and do their job to the best of their ability. Who cares if they support the manager? If they can all look themselves in the mirror and honestly say "I did everthing I could", that's all you can ask.
We all respect a player we can see is giving it his all, no matter how good he is.
By the way,
"...look at what Kenny did when managing liverpool, nothing."
You may be too young to remember so I think you need to check the record books for before he came to us my friend. Even last season, which has generally been recognised as a bit of a disaster for them in the league, they got to two finals, winning one (albeit only just). That would be as much as they could have reasonably expected no matter who was manager.
I thought his days as a manager were over when they reappointed him but as "nothings" go that's still not too shabby is it?

Ethuhu. According to cryer on twitter he went for 3.5 mil rising to 5 and we bought him for 500k.
Disappointed that goodie has gone on
Loan because he has a nack of scoring even if it doesn't look pretty. Can't fathom why he doesn't get a run of games. Edhino doesn't look like a lone striker.
On the whole the squad looks ok, we've kept most of the key players brought in some quality and got rid of a couple who didn't really want to be at rovers despite us developing them and I don't think the yak was going to play in the chpioship due to the mega bucks on offer in china.
Of course some will be unhappy and there are some who seem to just want Venkys to fail. I don't want them as our owners but that's what we've got and we are In a far better state than a large Number of teams. Yes I'd like to see kean out, can't stand him but it's not Going to stop from supporting the team.
Like the comment about the so called 10000 going to Leeds, how many of you went to Milton Keynes? or is it only away league games that the 10000 non renewers are attending?

You are like an eight year old irritating your sister. We don't all agree, we have all made different decisions during a very difficult and extremely unique time in our clubs history. Your opinion and decisionsnt make you a better supporter or give you higher status. Grow up and for goods sake shut up. You may as well be a Burnley fan posting on. You don't sound much different.
Anyway with the 10000 now attending away matches it should be a massive crowd at elland road, my prediction is there will be less than went to Bolton and wigan last year.
So all you naysayers and boycotters, get yer arse down ewood now weve signed 12 players and got rid of 3. Statement of intent from Shaggy. 3rd in the league and getting stronger,
Superb.

RU it would be a boring world if we all thought the same.

The only good thing now is that even Venky's will see what a plonker he is. The clock is ticking for his departure.

Yours truly
one of the 8000 ( spartans ) soon to be more.
I offer the hand of peace and friendship to all that wish to join with me and the other 7999 and become one again. That includes you, you muppet. Even though you are like Sergei the meerkat with humble pie on your face, I will still take you back just like Aleksandr did.
