Nzonzi completes Stoke City move as Goodwillie leaves on loan

STEVEN Nzonzi has completed a move to Stoke City this evening after a bid from the Potters was finally accepted by Blackburn Rovers .

The French midfielder had been frozen out at Ewood Park after handing in a transfer request, with Rovers having accepted a bid in the region of £3.5million, rising to £5m, this evening.

Striker David Goodwillie has also left Ewood Park this evening, signing for Crystal Palace on loan until January.

inevitable - goodwillie apart - if we have kept hold of ollson/dann/robinson - then the venkys have backed the club - may not want to accept that but it is a fact - they are high earners with premier league qualities

i despise kean but there are always positives in the negatives

Another success for Kean here - how much were they holding out for? - talk about a firesale at Ewood Premeirship quality out Portuguese youngsters out

Goodwillie was a prolific goalscorer before he came to Ewood - will Rhodes be any different and judging by Tottenham paying £6M for Clint Dempsey who is a proven goalscorer at the top level - have Rovers paid over the odds here.

Kean has no more excuses its his team his buys and if he doesnt succeed it must be him out of the door at Ewood - no question about it

Pity, i would have liked to have seen Goodwillie given an extended chance in his natural postion. Lets see if rhodes is any better on the right wing than goodwillie was. And 3 million for Nzonzi is a joke. When was the last time you saw a premiership holding midfielder go for so little? especially at 23. I hope they have a 50% sell on fee clause.

£3m for Nzonzi - Stoke have had our pants down there, absolute steal !!!

I think Jordan Rhodes is a great signing but when you look that Dempsey has only cost £6m, Lambert was available from Southampton for only £4m and Billy Sharp was available on a season long long for FREE - then we've definately over paid.

Sad to see Goodwillie go - £3.5m only a year ago and now gone on loan to one of the divisions smallest and most boke clubs - surely him and Petrovic will go down as our biggest ever "Laural and Hardie" signings - £6.5m the pair and they only lasted a year and we've virtully had to give both of them away just to get rid of them.

Glad to see Ollson staying (unless it goes through at last min) because having watched his brother getting skinned time after time on Tues at MK - well, truth is, without him we simply don't have a left back at the club able to play at the standard required, if we want to be at the top end of the table.

Overall, we'll lost some really good players but we could have lost more and we've bought some good players (real shame about Leon Best) and we've bought some has-beens and some Portugese never beens but over all - probably better then we could have really expected.

Question: How much is N'Zonzi worth?? After his debut season perhaps £8M was realistic but his subsequent seasons performance, injury record , disciplinary record, attitude has seen his value diminish markedly. Most of the blame for this must lie at the players own feet: he has believed he is better than he really is. After his first season he was touted as a replacement for Viera at Arsenal, now a replacement for Rory Delap &/or Glen Whelan. Oh how the mighty have fallen!!!

Point taken but his place in the pecking order has certainy fallen, granted he is playing in a Prem team but if he amongst others had pulled their collective fingers ou,t kept their elbows away from opponents faces and applied themselves to the job which was required this time last year then the Venkys prediction of challenging for Europe would not have been (chicken) pie in the sky with the investment that our Indian owners have now made. The sales sanctioned by Venkys would still have happened with the possible exception of Samba who lets face it thought he would walk into a top four club and ended up having to lower his sites and go for the roubles. Jones was always going to go and not many turn down Man U (Alan Shearer twice excepted.) Yak was a good bit of business as he has always succumbed to second season syndrome wherever he has been. Similiarly of all the people who wanted to leave the club in the summer the club have not been fighting off bids. It is now down to Robbo , Givet , Dann & Ollson to show how much they really want to play in the Prem by getting the Rovers back up.

I cannot believe some children are slating N'zonzi. The worst ever Manager, the whole team turfed out and treated like rubbish and some people think N'zonzie is bad, after him putting up with coco.

It's the most fraudulent excuse for a club, throwing out excellent players and bringing in loads of average ones, and some fans are satisfied.
What a downgrade.

This lot will not win any league, even though they have some of yesterday's heroes. One of the most expensive teams in the league, and they keep a known flop in control, bottom half at Christmas.

When Jack asked big time players to come here at Rovers , why did they come ,not only money , answer is managers, well lets compare Kenny with kean football careers Kenny 200 games for Celtic 5 leagues 4 cups, Liverpool 300 games ,5 leagues 2 cups ,3 champions , manager 2 titles 2 cups, title with Rovers, compare that to a guy called Kean, never kicked a ball in anger or in fact probably biggest crowd he ever played in front of was 3/400 people.
And THE ONLY PERSON KEAN can get to support him is the swindler Colin Hendry , sad days ahead for Rovers/.
Hey up, I wondered how long it would take to get from new signings and departures to the Colin Hendry Satlker.

Nzonzi is a player that will play well with a good team not like last year when it was obvious that he gave up when the chips were down. Goodwille is a overated player who did not come up to expectations hopefully with pressure off and playing for a decent manager may improve his game.

The fee will be £3m rising to £5m+ depending on appearances and I would imagine a sell on clause.Considering he made it clear he didn't want to play for Rovers/Kean again I think it's about right.
It's just a shame that we couldn't have loaned him out instead so when finally Kean runs out of excuses, the new manager could have started again with him.
The main concern I have is Kean's (dis)ability to get the best out of the 'best/most talented' players.I still think that with a decent run of games Goodwillie may have come good.To be fair to him he was never given that chance.Kean starting Edinho last week was Kean cutting his nose off to spite his face. Also any coach worth his salt should be able to get a tune out of Rochina who clearly has skill in abundance and as he briefly demonstrated last year an eye for goal too.The only players he does seem to have onside are those in the twilight of their career who know they wouldn't get a contract elsewhere like they are on now so are prepared to lick his a*se.
Finally I just pray that we are positive today and play two up top and don't flood the midfield with 'pensioners'...

yeah but u know what ppl say about our prem title we bought it i dnt like kean about the team what is wrong with the players he quoted? any champs side wud love to have most of them plus having a good playing career doesnt Automatically make u a good manager look at what kenny did when managing liverpool nothing alex ferguson didnt exactly have a good start to his man u career and look what he has done im not camparing kean to ferguson because u cant but our team is good enough to get back to the prem they just need to play well to achieve it it isnt all the managers fault if we dnt get promoted
It was the manager's fault (Kean) that we were relegated. Do you not think Allardyce would have kept us in the Prem ? Kean is NOT a football manager, never has been and never will be.

To be fair, I don't think Goodwillie was given half a chance. Every player needs a run of games to show what they can, or can not do. He never had that. For what it's worth I think the championship is about his level, so why get rid now.

Sad to see nzonzi go , i was hoping he would get away from Kean on lone until Kean was sacked and then he could have returned, he is the type of player rovers will eventually after sign to get out of the champs, we have to many weal players who only know one way playing , and are easily dispossed ex. portugual south america players .

Strangely, I agree; it won't be ALL SK's fault if we don't get promoted. The players know the fans are even blaming SK for the weather, so they do have a responsibility not to hide behind him if they are not performing.

That's not to say they should come out with an Orr-esque statement of support - that would mean nothing if they didn't then stand up and do their job to the best of their ability. Who cares if they support the manager? If they can all look themselves in the mirror and honestly say "I did everthing I could", that's all you can ask.

We all respect a player we can see is giving it his all, no matter how good he is.

By the way,

"...look at what Kenny did when managing liverpool, nothing."

You may be too young to remember so I think you need to check the record books for before he came to us my friend. Even last season, which has generally been recognised as a bit of a disaster for them in the league, they got to two finals, winning one (albeit only just). That would be as much as they could have reasonably expected no matter who was manager.

I thought his days as a manager were over when they reappointed him but as "nothings" go that's still not too shabby is it?

Being a prima donna. Much prefer
Ethuhu. According to cryer on twitter he went for 3.5 mil rising to 5 and we bought him for 500k.

Disappointed that goodie has gone on
Loan because he has a nack of scoring even if it doesn't look pretty. Can't fathom why he doesn't get a run of games. Edhino doesn't look like a lone striker.

On the whole the squad looks ok, we've kept most of the key players brought in some quality and got rid of a couple who didn't really want to be at rovers despite us developing them and I don't think the yak was going to play in the chpioship due to the mega bucks on offer in china.

Of course some will be unhappy and there are some who seem to just want Venkys to fail. I don't want them as our owners but that's what we've got and we are In a far better state than a large Number of teams. Yes I'd like to see kean out, can't stand him but it's not Going to stop from supporting the team.

Like the comment about the so called 10000 going to Leeds, how many of you went to Milton Keynes? or is it only away league games that the 10000 non renewers are attending?

Yet you make it sound like he's left Rovers for a club lower down the pecking order !!
If reports are to be believed Nzonzis fee is 3.5 million down with add ons to total 5 million over the next couple of seasons.

Gosport your opinion is slightly naieve in that as good as our squad is, we still have the same idiot managing them and also the amount of money spent on one player isn't an indicator for the amount of know-how that bunch have or of potential success. My mate pays £80 for work shoes but they aren't even worth it and they do the same job for him everyday as a £40 pairdo you really trust that dodgy Shebby and that weasle Kean can sensibly spend large amounts of money on footballers?

Good luck to both NZonzi and Goodwillie - one didn't take his chance to shine and one didn't get a chance to shine. Lets concentrate on today and a win at Leeds by 2-1 (Rhodes & KR)....

Anyway with the 10000 now attending away matches it should be a massive crowd at elland road, my prediction is there will be less than went to Bolton and wigan last year.
So all you naysayers and boycotters, get yer arse down ewood now weve signed 12 players and got rid of 3. Statement of intent from Shaggy. 3rd in the league and getting stronger,
Superb.

You are definately the biggest muppet that graces this site. Do you not feel embarrassed? Everytime you put a comment on here, it is a criticism of fellows. You are like an eight year old irritating your sister. We don't all agree, we have all made different decisions during a very difficult and extremely unique time in our clubs history. Your opinion and decisionsnt make you a better supporter or give you higher status. Grow up and for goods sake shut up. You may as well be a Burnley fan posting on. You don't sound much different.

Well, Kean paid good money for Goodwillie, let him spend most of his time watching games and then lets him go. Never had a chance to play with Kean. What a bad manager! He will prob. ruin Rhodes as well.
The only good thing now is that even Venky's will see what a plonker he is. The clock is ticking for his departure.
