The transfer window has closed
STEVEN Nzonzi will complete a move to Stoke City this evening after a bid from the Potters was finally accepted by Blackburn Rovers.
The French midfielder had been frozen out at Ewood Park after handing in a transfer request, with Rovers understood to have accepted a bid in the region of £3million this evening.
Striker David Goodwillie has also left Ewood Park this evening, signing for Crystal Palace on loan until January.
Rovers have completed the expected signings of Grzegorz Sandomierski, Nuno Henrique and Diogo Rosado.
The signing of the trio take Steve Kean's transfer window dealing to 12 additions this summer, as Rovers bid for an instant Premier League return.
Polish goalkeeper Sandomierski has signed on a season-long loan deal from Genk, with midfielder Rosado, from Sporting Lisbon, and defender Henrique, from Academica, signing three-year deals.
11:03pm

Lyon have confirmed that goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has joined Tottenham on a four-year deal for 10million euros (£7.9million).
The fee which could rise to 15million euros, (£11.9million) - and the Ligue 1 side also say they are entitled to 20% of profit should he leave White Hart Lane.
Lloris, who is the France captain and has 38 caps to his name, joined Lyon in 2008 from Nice and made 144 league appearances.

QPR have confirmed the signing of versatile midfielder or defender Stephane Mbia on a two-year deal from Marseille for an undisclosed fee.
11:02pm
Maynard makes Cardiff switch
Cardiff have secured the signing of West Ham striker Nicky Maynard for an undisclosed fee.
The 25-year-old has penned a three-year deal at the Cardiff City Stadium and will be able to make his debut in Sunday's home npower Championship clash with Wolves.
After a successful spell with Bristol City, Maynard joined the Hammers in the January transfer window and helped them clinch promotion to the Barclays Premier League after beating Blackpool in the play-off final.
11:01pm
Double swoop for Rovers
Blackburn have completed the double capture of Diogo Rosado and Nuno Henrique on three-year deals, subject to international clearance.
Attacking midfielder Rosado, 22, joins from Sporting Lisbon while central defender Henrique has left fellow Portuguese side Academica De Coimbra, with both men committing to Rovers until 2015.
They arrive at Ewood Park along Grzegorz Sandomierski, who earlier joined on a season-long loan from KRC Genk, and take Steve Kean's summer recruitment drive to 12 players.
11:00pm
Forest get sharp on loan
Southampton striker Billy Sharp has joined npower Championship side Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan.
Sharp, 26, only moved to St Mary's from Doncaster in January but has moved down a division to join Forest in an attempt to secure more first-team football.
The former Sheffield United striker scored in Southampton's Capital One Cup victory over Stevenage on Tuesday but has been allowed to leave the club.
8:22pm
One Stewart in, one Stewart out for Clarets
VERSATILE winger Cameron Stewart has joined Burnley on loan from Hull City until January.
Clarets manager Eddie Howe swooped before tonight's 11pm transfer deadline, meaning the 21-year-old is available for selection for the visit of Brighton tomorrow (Saturday).
The 21-year-old, who can play on either wing or as a central striker, has been brought in to fill the void left by injury to Danny Ings.
Stewart, who has made 50 appearances for Hull - including three this season, is a product of the Manchester United Academy.
He earned his first professional deal at Old Trafford, before signing for the Tigers in January 2011.
Meanwhile, Burnley goalkeeper Jon Stewart has re-joined Alfreton Town on loan until January.
8:20pm
Santa Cruz to Malaga
Primera Division side Malaga have confirmed the signing of striker Roque Santa Cruz on a season-long loan from Manchester City.
The Paraguayan spent last season at Real Betis, scoring seven league goals in 21 starts after he struggled to break into the first team at the Etihad Stadium.
Santa Cruz joined City from Blackburn in 2009 for £17million, but has scored just four goals for City.
8:19pm
Villa close in on duo
Aston Villa have agreed a fee of around £7million with Genk for Belgium international striker Christian Benteke, it is understood.
And it is believed Villa are also closing in on a £2million deal for Crewe captain and midfielder Ashley Westwood.
Sources close to the Barclays Premier League club insist "common ground" has been found between Villa and Genk for the 21-year-old.
Benteke is currently undergoing a medical and, subject to it being successful, the deal is expected to be concluded before the transfer window closes.
Westwood, 22, is also having a medical this evening with Villa.
8:18pm
Florence sign Toni
Veteran striker Luca Toni has rejoined Fiorentina from United Arab Emirates club Al Nasr.
The 35-year-old returns to the Stadio Artemio Franchi after a five-year absence after La Viola were thwarted in their approach for sign Dimitar Berbatov from Manchester United.
Toni enjoyed two prolific spells in Tuscany before signing for Bayern Munich in 2007.
Brief spells at Roma, Juventus and Genoa followed, with the Modenese forward linking up with former Italy manager Walter Zenga at Al Nasr earlier this year.
Winner of the World Cup in 2006, Toni has signed a one-year deal with Vincenzo Montella's new-look Fiorentina side.
Montella also managed to recruit Catania midfielder Cristian Llama on a one-year loan deal before the Italian transfer window closed this evening.
8:17pm
Gilardino to Bologna
Bologna have completed the signing of Alberto Gilardino from Genoa for an undisclosed fee.
The 30-year-old striker, who only signed a four-year contract at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in January, has now been allowed to link up with Stefano Pioli's Rossoblu.
Gilardino made his name for Bologna's local rivals Parma, even scoring a critical goal as his new employers were relegated in a two-legged play-off final in 2005.
The Piemontese forward soon earned a move to AC Milan, with whom he won the Champions League in 2007 before joining Fiorentina a year later.
He was also part of Marcello Lippi's World Cup winning squad of 2006 and has scored 17 goals in 47 appearances for the Azzurri.
8:16pm
Kakuta on loan
Chelsea have sent young winger Gael Kakuta on a season-long loan to Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem.
The 21-year-old has been unable to establish himself at Stamford Bridge despite high expectations when he arrived as a teenager from Lens in 2007.
Kakuta, whose Chelsea deal runs until 2015, has subsequently been farmed out on loan to Fulham and Bolton before returning to France with Dijon during the latter part of last season.
5:41pm
Wright signs for Manchester City
Manchester City have announced the signing of former England, Arsenal and Everton goalkeeper Richard Wright.
The 34-year-old has joined the Barclays Premier League champions as back-up to first-choice Joe Hart and Costel Pantilimon.
The move is one of the more surprising of the summer transfer window.
Wright, who has made 467 career appearances and won two England caps, joined League One Preston earlier in the summer but left a week later citing homesickness.

Lambert defends lower league signings
Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert insists he has faith in hungry and young players from lower divisions to revive the club's fortunes ahead of Sunday's Barclays Premier League clash at Newcastle.
Lambert today signed Chesterfield striker Jordan Bowery having already secured the services of right-back Matt Lowton (Sheffield United) and left-back Joe Bennett (Middlesbrough).
All three are included in the squad for the trip to the Sports Direct Arena.

AC Milan confirms de Jong signing
AC Milan have confirmed the signing of Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong on a three-year deal.
The 27-year-old, who joined the Barclays Premier League champions from Hamburg in 2009, underwent a medical this morning before completing the move to the San Siro.
A short statement on www.acmilan.com read: "AC Milan announces that it has bought outright Manchester City's Nigel de Jong, who has signed a contract until June 30, 2015."
De Jong, who has been given the number 34 shirt, goes straight into the squad for tomorrow's Serie A match at Bologna.
1:07pm
Villas-Boas wants window closing early
Andre Villas-Boas has added his name to the growing list of managers who think the transfer window should close before the start of the season.
Villas-Boas is expected to be one of the busiest managers in the Barclays Premier League today as he looks to snap up at least two new signings and off-load a number of players before tonight's 11pm deadline.
Although he signed Jan Vertonghen and Gylfi Sigurdsson before the season started, Villas-Boas has only just been able to integrate Mousa Dembele and Emmanuel Adebayor in to his squad after their recent arrivals.
Villas-Boas also had to contend with having an unhappy player at the club's training ground after Luka Modric's move to Real Madrid dragged on to the point where the Croat was forced to train alone so his unhappiness did not affect the rest of the squad.
Villas-Boas, like fellow managers Martin Jol and Martin O'Neill, believes the transfer window should shut before the start of the season to allow everyone to have a settled squad by the time the campaign begins.

Sinclair completes Manchester City deal
Manchester City have completed the signing of winger Scott Sinclair from Swansea for an undisclosed fee.
Sinclair, 23, excelled in South Wales after struggling to make the breakthrough at Chelsea.
He was an integral part of the side which earned promotion to the top flight in 2011 and also impressed on their opening season in the Barclays Premier League.
"I'm just glad everything is settled and that I'm now a City player," said Sinclair.
12:35pm
Villa sign Chesterfield's Bowery
Aston Villa have confirmed they have completed the signing of Chesterfield striker Jordan Bowery for an undisclosed fee on a three-year contract.
Bowery becomes the sixth new signing at Villa this summer following defenders Ron Vlaar, Joe Bennett and Matt Lowton, and midfield duo Brett Holman and Karim El Ahmadi.
His father Bert Bowery was also a striker who played for Nottingham Forest under Brian Clough before moving to the North American Soccer League in 1976.
Villa boss Paul Lambert said: "Jordan is a good player. The hunger will be there for him and he could surprise a few people.
"He's a good lad, he's strong and powerful. He's played over 100 games in the Football League and cup football, so he's battle-hardened.
"He's one for the future but if he steps up to the plate like I think he can then I would have no hesitation in throwing him in, none whatsoever."

Fulham's United States international Clint Dempsey has been a target for Liverpool, but it's understood Aston Villa have entered the race to sign the 29-year-old.
Sources close to Villa have confirmed the midlands club had reached agreement with the Cottagers for Dempsey with a bid of around £7million being accepted.
However, Dempsey still wants to make the switch to Merseyside with the Reds his number one choice.

Meanwhile, here's the picture from Clarets:
EDDIE Howe is only expecting to add to his squad as he remains in the market for a forward.
But with the possibility of key players attracting interest as the clock ticks down to tonight’s 11 o’clock transfer deadline, the Burnley boss insists they would only sell on their terms.
Midfielder Chris McCann attracted interest from Norwich City earlier in the summer and Swansea before Brendan Rodgers left for Liverpool, while Everton are also understood to be keen on the Dubliner.
Striker Charlie Austin could also be a target for Huddersfield Town after they lost Jordan Rhodes in an £8million move to Blackburn Rovers , although I understand their list of targets at the moment includes DJ Campbell, Fraizer Campbell and Leicester City duo Jermaine Beckford and Paul Gallagher.
But after completing the record £7m sale of Jay Rodriguez to Southampton earlier in the summer, Howe was not expecting to lose any more of his key players, and his stance has not changed.
“I always think it's a nice thing when you're players get linked because it means they're performing. But I'm pretty confident that we can keep hold of them,” said the Burnley boss.
10:23am
Here's what happened at the Rovers press conference this morning:
BLACKBURN Rovers manager Steve Kean has admitted that there could be more transfer activity at Ewood Park before tonight's 11pm deadline.
Rovers yesterday completed their £8m record signing of striker Jordan Rhodes from Huddersfield Town.
But there could still be further additions today, while Kean has hinted at this morning's pre-match press conference that one or two players may also leave.
Steven Nzonzi, Martin Olsson and David Goodwillie are among the names that may depart the club.
