Cocks is handed captaincy at Bacup Borough
10:00am Friday 31st August 2012 in Football
WINGER Daniel Cocks has been announced as the new captain of Bacup Borough – as Brent Peters’ side travel to AFC Liverpool tomorrow in the first round of the FA Vase.
Bacup are one of three East Lancashire sides hoping to extend their stay in the competition, along with local rivals Nelson and Padiham.
It will be a tough outing for Bacup who are looking for an upturn in form following a woeful start to their North West Counties Premier Division campaign.
But boss Peter has made a big decision ahead of the weekend by appointing Cocks as his new skipper, with Otis Gormon given the vice-captaincy role.
“Daniel has impressed me with his progression since he arrived at the club from Abbey Hey,” said Peters.
“He is a fully committed lad who loves his football, is always at training and always asking staff questions in order to improve.
“Daniel is fully committed to Bacup and he is determined to build on the success we achieve last season.
“I am hoping that now Daniel has got this extra responsibility he will become more self-disciplined within himself.”
