Garforth Town 0 Clitheroe 2

TWO goals from debutant Jordan Williams gave Paul Moore the perfect start as Clitheroe manager in Evo-Stik League First Division North.

Summer recruits Hakan Burton, Rob Flint, Louis Edwards, Simon Nangle and James Gardner joined Williams in making their first competitive starts for the club.

Clitheroe took the lead on 13 minutes as Nangle’s right wing cross was converted by Williams, and the same player very nearly made it two on the half hour mark – only for his shot to rebound off the crossbar.

Early in the second period, Jack Higgins was required to clear a shot from Garforth’s Daniel Sheriffe off the line.

The hosts then missed a glorious opportunity to equalise after 55 minutes as full back Josh Greenhalgh screwed an effort wide of the upright.

The all important second goal, which effectively settled the contest, came after an hour with Williams arriving on cue to double his tally for the afternoon from a Connor Smith cross the left.

The Blues now host Harrogate Railway Athletic tomorrow night.
