Kean makes point to Venky’s with a draw

STEVE Kean has welcomed Venky’s visit to Portman Road on Saturday and insists they have seen “the first point of many” this season.

The Blackburn Rovers boss conceded his side had got too deep after the break, blaming that on bookings to Danny Murphy and Dickson Etuhu.

Co-owners Balaji Rao and Venkatesh Rao were watching the game at Ipswich with global advisor Shebby Singh and Kean believes they would have enjoyed what they saw.

Kean said: “Nice for the owners to see the first point of many.

“I’m sure it was nice for the owners to see the new players, that full credit to them they have invested heavily and strengthened the squad. I believe we have a great squad this season.

“The heat was a massive factor for both teams.

“The stats will show it was a high intensity game and the fitness levels of both sides were very high.

“I think this will be a very tough away ground to take points. I believe we have taken the first point of many this season. We will look forward to two home games.

“We will go home disappointed because we scored first. If it had gone the other way we would have seen it as a very good point.”

Kean meanwhile admits his Blackburn Rovers side were too deep in the second half of the 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town.

The Rovers boss believed yellow cards to Danny Murphy and Dickson Etuhu allowed the hosts to seize the initiative.

Kean said: “I think the two big factors in the game were the chance that falls to Colin when it narrowly goes over.

“If that goes in the game is dead and buried.

“Then what affected us getting a lot deeper is the cards for Danny Murphy and Dickson Etuhu.

“They found themselves in a difficult position because they can’t make a mistimed tackle.

“That stopped us putting pressure on the ball and we got a little bit deep and ended up giving away too many free kicks and too many penalty area entries.

“When the lads take a card they are reluctant to push in.

“In the first half there were lots of tackles and lots of inter-ceptions.

“We were left with the decision to change them or hold on and try and score a second, which we nearly did.

“Full credit to Ipswich I think they are an excellent side and this is a very difficult place to come.”

Oh, so they've remembered where the UK is; will they recall how to get to East Lancashire on Wednesday evening?
What the Brothers Grimm saw was a Rovers side desperately clinging on to a point by the tips of their manicured fingernails as Ipswich applied overwelming pressure in the second half.
The deluded one contiues with his PR antics,This was Portman Road, not Stamford Bridge; an ex PL side should not have had difficulty securing 3 points. Ipswich are not a powerhouse of the Campionship, they finished 15th last season and will, in all likelyhood, be in the bottom 3rd come the end of the season.
Wake up Kean, take off the rose tinted spectacles, you are absolutely useless!

Hardly stands out as a fortress does it ?

I wonder if the Venky boys will turn up on Weds night to see the empty seats .

In the guardian it stated season ticket sales were down from 15K to 7K and Corporate Sponsorship was down from 250 to 8 . It also stated that we should be grateful that Venky's had taken us into their wonderful empire and that we should bow down and worship at the shrine of the chicken .

Sounds to me like Kean is feeling he now has to justify his existance "Ipswich a good side" ??

They finished 15th last season, lost nearly 10 home league games last season, havent invested in their squad during this summer and fielded a load of youngsters on Sat.

Even there own local newspaper has predicted that a mid table finish "will be respectable this season" and we managed just 2 attempts on target and hung on for a point.

Sounds like Kean still thinks the Rao brothers know nothing about football (he might be right there !) and he's trying to spoon feed them more of his complete and utter tripe - However, I think theres only Mrs D and Paul Agnew in the entire world that now takes any notice of the cr@p that comes out of his mouth !!

I agree but I'd say - if kean is still manager after the MK and Leeds defeats (I think we'll beat Hull and lose to Liecester) then there is something wrong - SERIOUSLY WRONG and SS might as well go back to Asia cos he'll have zero credability with us Rovers fans - he'll just be another corupt liar with his snout in the Ewood trough.

4 league games - we'll win 1, lose 2, draw 1 and lose to MK and no doubt we'll be urged by Kean, Orr, Murphy, SS and MathewCA that the team needs time to "gell" and judge him at Christmas" - then it'll be "Venkys are investing in more players in Jan" - judge Kean when the new players have "settled in", then it'll be March and "if we win most of the remaining games then we'll make the play offs", then it'll be end of season and we'll finish mid table and SS/SK will say - Championship is a tough division but last season we learned alot so next year Kean will 100% get us up, "failure won't be tolerated next season" bla bla, bla bla.

The squad is almost good enough, one or two more additions would complete it...Jordan Rhodes is the key for me and the test of Venkys investment. Dependant on Martin Olsson staying or not we may need a left back as well. Unfortunately I have not seen the goals from the weekend but Jason Lowe was playing out of position andd wonder if this attributed to his own goal.

Kean does not help himself by these "positive" comments the truth is we were 1 up and should have gone on to win the game but the comments are correct how many times last season did we not hold onto winning positions especially in away games(Sunderland, Norwich, Fulham to name a few)...in the end those lost points cost us our premiership place, we must learn from this otherwise we may look back at the end of the season saying the same again!

If you live in Darwen, go and ask some Rovers fans what the problem is, instead of calling them embarrassing. Currently you are the embarrassment in that we have such a turd living so close to Ewood.

Stop your negativity, you played in 30 degrees plus heat very demanding, a point at ipswich is credible, no team wants to lose the first game. we got nobbed of burnley thats shocking. You will take 6 points from 6 in the next two games, you will go up as champions, you have a quality team and if you get Rhodes which is heavly linked, and a all round defender you will be a force. We have nothing apart from a clown of a manger who fails to pick his best players week in week out. its embarrassing. Gary Megson. Pot. Kettle. Black.
Wanderer fan I was at the Reebok when your fans joined in with Rovers fans singing "you're getting sacked in the morning" to Megson. Get real you hypocrite. Suppose when your own team got whalloped by Burnley next thing to do is criticise Rovers fans? Funnily our fans are only ever called embarrassing by Bolton and Burnley fans. Every other fan can sympathise

He can fail - his truly abysmal record of results so far proves that beyond doubt.

Stop trying to blame the fans though in case he does. It's what Steve Kean will undoubtedly do too. You appear to be doing Steve Kean's work for him first.

Go away therefore you bellend. Concentrate on your own team and it's problems. You are clearly a long way from understanding ours. You certainly aren't coming in peace doing Kean's work for him.

If you are so sure Rovers will go up, then take a bet on them. The bookies currently have Bolton down as bigger favourites.

We have re-invested a fraction of the millions of pounds pocketed by the Venkys in selling off our best players, and removing the highest earning players from the books.
-
Kean is still a bare faced drunken lair, who will put a positive spin on every result no matter how poor, and be optimistic no matter how far we fall down the table.
-
This result is entirely expected as everyone knows how inept Kean is, you just have to look at his record. This is except of course for the Venkys.

Do the Venkys know maths and know about footballing win, draw, loss statistics? Or are the Venkys not only innumerate but easily fooled by a bare, faced, lieing Scottish drunk?

Disgraceful piece in the Grauniad by some guy called Alexander. Good post from someone though; He gives the characteristics of a sociopath.

See what you think.

GLIB and SUPERFICIAL CHARM -- the tendency to be smooth, engaging, charming, slick, and verbally facile. Sociopathic charm is not in the least shy, self-conscious, or afraid to say anything. A sociopath never gets tongue-tied. They have freed themselves from the social conventions about taking turns in talking, for example.

GRANDIOSE SELF-WORTH -- a grossly inflated view of one's abilities and self-worth, self-assured, opinionated, cocky, a braggart. Sociopaths are arrogant people who believe they are superior human beings.

PATHOLOGICAL LYING -- can be moderate or high; in moderate form, they will be shrewd, crafty, cunning, sly, and clever; in extreme form, they will be deceptive, deceitful, underhanded, unscrupulous, manipulative, and dishonest.

CONNING AND MANIPULATIVENESS- the use of deceit and deception to cheat, con, or defraud others for personal gain; distinguished from Item #4 in the degree to which exploitation and callous ruthlessness is present, as reflected in a lack of concern for the feelings and suffering of one's victims.

LACK OF REMORSE OR GUILT -- a lack of feelings or concern for the losses, pain, and suffering of victims; a tendency to be unconcerned, dispassionate, coldhearted, and un empathic. This item is usually demonstrated by a disdain for one's victims.

SHALLOW AFFECT -- emotional poverty or a limited range or depth of feelings; interpersonal coldness in spite of signs of open gregariousness.

CALLOUSNESS and LACK OF EMPATHY -- a lack of feelings toward people in general; cold, contemptuous, inconsiderate, and tactless.

PARASITIC LIFESTYLE -- an intentional, manipulative, selfish, and exploitative financial dependence on others as reflected in a lack of motivation, low self-discipline, and inability to begin or complete responsibilities.

POOR BEHAVIORAL CONTROLS -- expressions of irritability, annoyance, impatience, threats, aggression, and verbal abuse; inadequate control of anger and temper; acting hastily.

LACK OF REALISTIC, LONG-TERM GOALS -- an inability or persistent failure to develop and execute long-term plans and goals; a nomadic existence, aimless, lacking direction in life.

IMPULSIVITY -- the occurrence of behaviors that are unpremeditated and lack reflection or planning; inability to resist temptation, frustrations, and urges; a lack of deliberation without considering the consequences; foolhardy, rash, unpredictable, erratic, and reckless.

IRRESPONSIBILITY -- repeated failure to fulfill or honor obligations and commitments; such as not paying bills, defaulting on loans, performing sloppy work, being absent or late to work, failing to honor contractual agreements.

FAILURE TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR OWN ACTIONS -- a failure to accept responsibility for one's actions reflected in low conscientiousness, an absence of dutifulness, antagonistic manipulation, denial of responsibility, and an effort to manipulate others through this denial.

I thought Lowe took his goal well, showed real finishing class, might partner Shazam, or whatever his name is,on Wednesday. We dominated the fouls and if we could have had Rochina to call on we might have played some football, but as you know he is not in the right frame of mind. Still,we got a point at a very difficult place, they are a side that nearly got promoted last season,or was it relegated, one of those. We got the first point on the board, same next three games we will have 4, that's promotion form.

As to the ludicrously named "global advisor" fans I meet in the streets of East Lancs are embarrassed by the pretentiousness of the title. As one long-standing fan told me "what we need is a Championship advisor"

I expect the chuckle bros. and our "global advisor" to be a Ewood next home.

Oh what a lot of sourpusses and moaning minnies we have this Monday morning! Don't you realise that we are at the dawn of a bright new era with progressive and generous owners supporting one of the brightest new management prospects in the game. I accept that relegation last year was a bit of a setback but we can all learn from this and look forward with pride, ambition and optimism. Let's fill the ground with love on Wednesday and show Mr Kean how sorry we are for the inappropriate and unfortunate expressions of misplaced anger from a misinformed minority.

Pretty much sums it up.

yep Jep....it will be a good point - but only if we beat Hull.
A point away and three at home will do for me this season.
Bit pessimistic even I think we will get more than 1 point away and 3 at home.
But if true he will surely be gone!
Pessimistic - Moi?
That must be the first time I have ever been called that Darener! :-)
3 pts at home and 1 away would give us 92 points over the season and QPR won this league with 88pts last season...so nothing pessimistic there Mr D. But glad to hear you think we will get more than 92 points sir.
Sorry FR but Reading won the Championship last year wih 89 points.

QPR survived relegation from the Premier League under Mark Hughes.
Yeah thx Riversider - actually I was looking at the year before.....but the point still holds as 92 points from away draws and home wins would still make any side Champions..... Not that i expect us to get that many of course but just enough for the play-offs maybe?.

The depth of the subversion and corruption goes way beyond what we thought. You can't counter this sort of propaganda with reason and logic. No wonder the regeime still has so many supporters. Identity theft on a grand scale.

Totally agree - that article is truly alarming. At the Guardian, the supposed upholders of decency in the mainstream press.

It begs huge questions. How does journalism work in this country exactly? What happened to integrity?

One thing I will say is that article appears to have had the opposite effect to that intended. Instead of painting Kean as some victim, fans from other clubs are now more appalled at what's happening to us. The overtly sycophantic nature of the piece, and the subsequent deletion of a raft of seemingly innocuous comments, has now led to impartial fans cancelling their Guardian subscription.

These are strange times when the murky world of Rovers is dragging the Guardian down to gutter levels.

"A couple of the lads in the middle of the park got bookings and you were a little bit wary to press in case you picked up a second yellow card. Because we were a goal up your mentality changes and you do drop a bit deeper and try to hit them on the break"

Kean Says:
“Then what affected us getting a lot deeper is the cards for Danny Murphy and Dickson Etuhu.
“They found themselves in a difficult position because they can’t make a mistimed tackle.

what a load of ****!! i have played alot of football in my day and a centre midfielder getting booked never meant they set up camp on the edge of their own box. Kean must be coaching trolls like Orr exactly what to say in post match interviews.

Not deluded is conman Kean, yet he is very SMART & blinkered with his comments and determined to completely ignore the view,s of the MAJORITY of long standing supporter.
Of course, we know he is making millions along the way and will say anything to hold onto his position and create an impression that things are all well within his little world. ("thank you Ms Venky, yes they really do sound a "nice" positive group of players don,nt they, and I have a closely knitted group indeed).
His comments to the BBC website "they,re (the supporters) enjoying the standard & the calibre of the players that we,ve brought in !!!!!!!!!!!
What,s that all about....there would have been very few Rovers supporter having seen this one game, were they struggled to a very lucky draw !!!!
(so does this mean he ask his son & wife their opinions here !!!)
Another comment "supporters go to support the team (right so far ...), and they want to support US all the way back to the P.L.
Now Mr Conman Kean....that was a smart-**** comment indeed to slip in the "US"....giving the impression to the media that supporters would include you and are with you also.....
I THINK NOT ....YET AGAIN VERY SMART-****.

You are a failure as a human being.

You have no professional ability.

You are a liar and are utterly and completely contemptible.

Unfortunately for some unfathomable reason we seem to be stuck with you.

We fully appreciate and understand that you do not have the morality or consience to resign.

All we ask is that you at least shut the f**ck up for once.
