BLACKBURN Rovers will turn their attentions to Manchester City striker John Guidetti – if they fail in their determined pursuit of Huddersfield Town hot shot Jordan Rhodes.

Boss Steve Kean admits the addition of one more striker would be the final piece in the jigsaw after confirming Diogo Rosado and Colin Kazim-Richards should sign for the club imminently.

And the Rovers manager insists the club’s pursuit of Rhodes remains their priority, as they await a final official rejection from the Yorkshire outfit.

The Lancashire Telegraph under-stands Rovers remain hopeful they can get their man but, should Huddersfield give their top price a firm rejection, will go after 20-year-old Guidetti.

Rhodes and his representatives are understood to have been tempted by a move to Ewood Park, but remain reliant on Huddersfield accepting a bid for him.

Swedish international Guidetti enjoyed a prolific temporary spell at Dutch giants Feyenoord last season, scoring 20 goals in 23 appearances, having earlier had a short loan spell at Burnley.

Rovers have been made aware of the striker’s availability and would target the 6ft 1in striker next on their wish list.

Kean said: “We have put in a bid for Rhodes and we will see if that has been accepted. If its not, there will obviously be a limit and a tipping point for us, where we have to look elsewhere. I don’t know if we are close to that.

“If they politely tell us he is not for sale and they would rather us not bid then we will move on.

“Because of the amount of goals he has scored, he has had lots of Premier League enquiries and I can see why.

“I went to see him for Scotland under 21s against Holland and he is always on the move. Lee Clark told me he keeps improving and I think he is a player who can go right to the very top.

“We would be respectful of his club and if they tell us he is not for sale or the top figure we are offering, is not enough, we will look elsewhere.

“If it does then great, we can get him in and his club will want the time to find another striker.”

Turkish international Colin Kazim-Richards is expected to complete his season-long loan move from Galatasaray to Rovers, to be the second striker the club have been looking for.

And, with Sporting Lisbon attacking midfielder Diogo Rosado set to sign today, Kean admits his activity in the market is almost done - unless players leave.

He said: “We are just waiting the final paperwork to Diogo and we are hopeful we can get something done for Colin very soon too.

“I think we would be there then, after signing another striker, providing we can keep everyone.

“When you look at the squad and you see the depth, we are very close if we can get these striker positions filled. Colin would count as one of them.

“Dickson Etuhu can step back into defence. We found early last season when you lose a few players in the same positions at the same time, if you have players who are versatile it helps.

“Not only Dickson, but full backs who can play either side or holding midfielders who can drop in and play as a centre back certainly helps and we now have that.”

Meanwhile Rovers will tell River Plate that Mauro Formica is not for sale, while Jordan Slew has joined Oldham on a six month loan deal.
