Pedersen's Rovers future uncertain
10:10am Thursday 2nd August 2012 in Football
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
FOR SALE Pedersen
MORTEN Gamst Pedersen is one of a number of a players put up for sale by Blackburn Rovers as the club continues its rebuilding process.
The Norwegian has made more than 300 appearances for Rovers in an Ewood career spanning eight years but his future at the club now looks bleak.
The Lancashire Telegraph understands Rovers do not see Pedersen as part of their plans for the coming campaign and will circulate his name to clubs at home and abroad.
Pedersen is believed to be joined by Radosav Petrovic, Jordan Slew, Nick Blackman and Amine Linganzi as being surplus to requirements at Rovers – as the club look to make room for their young talent to progress into the senior squad.
Rovers are already understood to have received enquiries about potential loan moves for them and they would willing to let them leave on a temporary basis – if no satisfactory permanent offers come in.
The club continue to look for a striker and informal enquiries were continuing to last night to determine if Huddersfield’s Jordan Rhodes could be attracted to Ewood Park, although no bid has been made.
Pedersen arrived at Rovers in 2004 and has established himself as a regular in midfield almost ever since.
He is still contracted to the club until 2014 and is understood to want to stay and fight for his place, although Rovers have other ideas.
Pedersen would attract signific-ant interest among clubs world-wide and a move could yet tempt him.
Rovers are also keen to offload Petrovic, having only signed him for around £2m last summer.
Petrovic has struggled to adapt to the pace of the English game and Greek outfit Olympiakos are understood to have shown some initial interest, although they are yet to pursue it further.
Slew, also signed last summer for in the region of £1m, is likely to leave the club on loan having failed to make an impact, while Linganzi and Blackman are also players Rovers are keen to offload.
Ruben Rochina and Simon Vukcevic remain in Rovers’ future plans, however.
Spaniard Rochina has only played a bit part this summer but, once he meets the fitness standards required, Rovers are hopeful he can play a role in their Championship campaign.
Vukcevic is currently working his way back to fitness after under-going nose surgery this summer.

pefersen has been nothing more than mediocre in the last couple of seasons and whilst you get effort most of the time, he seems to have lost an ability to pass a ball accurately. we cannot afford to lose posession so easily whatever league we're in.
petrovic is certainly worse than pedersen, so i can see the reasoning for letting him go too. he's one of those that could end up being decent, but he's a way off right now.
slew, blackman and linganzi have never really been part of things so it's hard to have too much of an opinion.
good to see vukcevic and rochina still being part of the plans. time to give both of them a proper go in the side i reckon, as they can both cope with it.

So, I wish MGP all the best in who ever he decides to join.

Kick in the teeth for loyalty there. I agree MGP has been ineffective over the last couple of seasons, but with some of the players we still have there, I'd certainly keep Ped.
Not bothered about Petrovic to be honest. Strange Stevie wanting to sell one of the players he wanted to be judged on! And to think, he said Bruno was the only player he'd brought in who hadn't had the desired impact.
Cheers for the service Morten. Fancy staying on as manager?

Its simply selling the players that you don't want. Every club does it and are doing it right now as in every close season.
Lets face it we are not going to get much money into the club for that lot anyway. The wages we will save wont pay for a weekend away in Blackpool....
Does this mean that we are going to keep the others like Dann, Robbo and Olsson?
Even with the Shebmeister there is not enough info coming out about what team we are likely to be able to put out in two weeks time for the start of the season. Still all very worrying - even for me the 'positive' one.

Then his (nearly) greatest moment against the mighty Chelsea in FA Cup semi 5 mins to go 1-1 and you would have put your house on him nodding that one in - ah well!

No wonder there is acrimony at Ewood with these people in charge. If Pederson had said he wouldnt play in the Championship the heirachy would accuse him of abandoning a sinking ship
Will David Dunn be next or is he part of Keans inner circle of yes men -

Pity about Pederson though,he is a good player when he wants to be. The problem with him now is he is part of the furniture, the lad needs to find himself a new club or spend a bit of time on the sidelines it would be a breath of fresh air to his game. Loyalty is a rare thing in football but it doesn`t always earn you points especially when its coupled with complacency.

I believe Kean wants "his players" around him, so we're left with a midfield of teenagers and those close to retirement.
Good news about Petrovic though, and the rest are irrelevant. Worth noting though that Blackman is one of Jerome's boys.

Mind you from some of the comments there are actually still people out there that havent actually grasped what is happening.... must admit I have come across quite a few at Ewood who seem to have the mental capacity of an ameoba in my time so no suprise..... mind you I didnt think there were over 3000 of them..... or whatever the latest figures are for ST renewers.

we have already signed someone better in murphy. saying absolutely that we wouldn't be able to sign someone better to directly replace him seems a bit absolutlist.
he's not the only good crosser in the team at all. and in the positions he has been used recently (central) he doesn't get too many chances. personally i think olssen is a better crosser. i'm sure others can do a job if we start playing with genuine wingers.
sure he can hit a dead ball, but let's face it, he's not prolific.
and as for loyalty, what's the value of that. there were times when he was being courted by the likes of man u, that he was tempted to jump ship. and how much should we be willing to pay for loyalty if performance is not there to match.
as i said, he's not terrible by any stretch, but time for a change...? yes i reckon so.

If you look at Pedersen's stats, he consistently sets up goals and also runs more miles than anyone on the pitch. He also gets himself in the way of a lot and wins the ball back. He is a calming influence in a team which consistently has its head down. Yes he gives the ball away but at least he tries to pick out a forward pass. Everyone else last season was passing sideways. Afraid that the fans would be all over them for giving the ball away.
I am not saying we should play him on the left wing but as a central midfielder he started to look good before Kean decided to start playing Dunn again. If he had a run of games in central midfield I'm sure he's better than what we have in that position.
Petrovic is another one that if we gave him some games could turn into a strong box to box midfielder. Especially with N'Zonzi going it seems he would be the perfect replacement.
It is patently obvious that Kean not only struggles to work with what he has - he also is incapable of creating a team of his own. Pedersen and Petrovic would be two to keep. There is plenty of deadwood in the squad that could be shipped out.
I am very doubtful that Venky's and Kean will find anyone fit to clean Pedersen's boots.

Given that his DIP in form has coincided with Keans involvement, does it seem right that he is now being shown the door? Shebby is currently drip feeding you little tit bits - and he will speak out more and more publicly once 'the deed' has been done - and it will be barring some 'freak' results prolonging our agony.
Don't worry about Mrs. D - Kean, Agnew, Shaw - et al are still running to her telling their tales ... fear not Shebby is reporting to Bilaji (of ponytail!) who is in effect now running the club ... we have a massive split in the club, but Shebby is 'doing his work' and we'll move full steam ahead one Kean get's chopped ... why we have to wait, I'm not quite sure ... but put it this way Shebby is already seeing things on a daily basis and forming his opinions - he doesn't rate Pedersen, Petrovic (way too slow for the English league and more akin to a sweeper!), Slew, Blackman and Linganzi just don't 'cut it'! He feels sorry for Anderson - but he'll be nowhere near first team - and didn't want him to go to Austrian training camp ... sadly Shebby was away when they came to go and Kean sneeked him into the squad ... it was noted!
Shebby is blocking certain Kean targets ... ie. Kewell, Cox and Vaughan and has made his mind up on certain individuals (including the manager) and this is just the first trench of departures - and sadly since Morten's defining moment in the Cup Semi-Final with 'that' miss he's been as inconsistant with his form as Kean has been with the truth! Come to think of it Kean is just incapable, Pedersen was - and both are going shortly! HURRAH!!! C'mon Shebby press on that pedal and deliver us Jordan Rhodes and sack Kean - then watch the fans start to return!

We need replacements before we can offload and I think for peds service to the club he deserves 6 months at championship level to proove himself. Fyi, check the FIFA player stats for peds last year, he was one of the highest rated players in the prem for clear cut chance creation (2.2pg).

My take on most players being shipped out is they are gagged or threatened (or given a backhander) for saying nothing when they leave, I hope MGP who I did rate for his effort alone has the balls to come out and say what is realy going on down a Ewood Park, lets wait and see.
For Samba,Nelson (ex captains) and Emerton Roberts Salgardo not to say anything when they left is very suspisious, although Salgardo did say some negative things I believe.

Pedersen hasn't been iffy for a long time now and is on HUGE wages. I'm hoping we will hold onto Martin Olsson with his departure, Olsson can play LM and we can bring in a LB.
We would be much much better like this.
Radosav Petrovic has been very poor since he signed, and if we can get our money back and reinvest then why not sell him? My only concern would be a lack of CDM, so hopefully we will at least sign one experienced one.
Jordan Slew has been very poor since we signed him, from what i have heard Slew has not been transfer listed, the club are looking to get him out on a season long loan at a team reasonably high on the condition he gets played.
Nick Blackman is one of those will he, won't he players.
Looking at how inconsistent he has been at different clubs when out on loan, if we had a offer of anywhere near a million for him, we should take it as he is costing us at the moment and giving us no return.
As for Amine Linganzi, 2 games in 2 years. He's been deemed not good enough and his wages can be used better elsewhere.
Out of the players listed for transfer only 2 of them can be considered 1st teamers.
Both will be on high wages and have been underperforming. So if we can replace them with players, or even one player who will hit the ground running, and then help another player currently at the team do better, then so be it.
Let's not forget that getting the above players off the clubs books will save MILLIONS per season.

I have to say I have just got back in and have read some of your posts, to say this is a debating page you are rather aggressive, if some one disagrees with you thats it, its there opinion, no need for aggressive reactions, we are all fans of the same football club so grow up, listen to other peoples opinions and have a sensible debate.
Now replying to your answer, no I have not purchased a season ticket because its my way (obviously not yours) but my way of getting rid of these terrible owners and the terrible manager, I will keep my cash until they have gone.
My reasons have been printed on these pages many a time and I will not reprint them or this blogg would be a mile long, but cutting it short I fear for my club, I fear it will fold under these people, yes fold and I will not be part of it, I will do all within my power to get these people out by any means I can, I may not achieve this on my own but as a collective with many other stay away fans I hope we can, like most I am doing because I love my club, it may be wrong and it may be right but I am going to do something.
Please take note Robbo I do not call anyone who carrys on going to Ewood that is there choice, but asked my opinion I would ask people to stay away as I feel what I am doing is correct.
There you go Robbo, no shouting no threatening just a good old debate, I await your answer and will leave your peers to vote on your reply be it good or bad.

Never been more frustrated watching a rovers player i think. Up there with andrews and grabbi. He just flat out gave the ball away 5-10 times a game, often on his own half! Hardly any pressure around him. Cant tackle, cant dribble. And whats good being a "workhorse" if he just jogs along with the player without being able to kick the ball away?
Pedersen has been loyal to his wages, which were drastically raised a couple of years ago when he was out of contract.
This so-called Rovers fan were smiling and laughing after the embarrassing tottenham game when relegation was becoming a fact.

We have to be very careful what we pay these new signings, because if we don't go back up at the first attempt, financial disaster looms. I very much doubt that relegation clauses have been inserted into the contracts of our new signings. Kean and Borat are far too arrogant to think that another relegation is even remotely possible. Someone likened the reaction on here to the way Keith Andrews was treated. Which is absolutely right. Neither have deserved the blinkered, nonsensical abuse which has been thrown at them.
MGP may not be world beater, but if all his crosses were perfect and every free kick was in the proverbial postage stamp, he would not be here to get rid of in the first place.
If he hadn't been playing last season we'd have been down in March. Because of the idiot's abject failure to produce a reasonably competitive team (never mind an entertaining one as Mrs Desai had apparently wanted), we had to rely almost entirely on his set pieces.
For God's sake, cut the guy some slack; he is a loooooooong way from being the worst of this pretty useless bunch. There are people on here who seem to think we have a group of superstars waiting to be released from the shackles of the idiot Kean.
Don't forget, amidst all the justifed critcism of him, it was those on the pitch who ultimately got us relegated. I grant you they were aided and abetted massively by the incompetent bunch from Pune and the pi!!ock they appointed, but should most definitely take some share of the blame.
But, like him or not, MGP would still be effective and is being dumped because of his salary; end of.
By the way, anyone spotted any defenders yet?
