Silva attempts to force Blackburn Rovers move

ADRIEN Silva has turned down Sporting Lisbon’s offer of a lucrative new contract as he sets his sights on completing his move to Blackburn Rovers.

The Portuguese midfielder has been in Rovers’ sights for the past couple of weeks but Sporting have been dragging their heels during negotiations in a bid to keep him.

Sporting are believed to have just offered Silva the opportunity to sign an extended deal with them - with his current contract expiring next summer – but the player has turned it down and told them he wants to quit the club.

Silva is already believed to have snubbed moves to the likes of Porto, Montpellier and Marseille, with Rovers and Sporting Lisbon now just needing to agree on a price.

Rovers have remained confident they would get their man throughout, despite the prolonged negotiations, with Silva himself now trying to help force through a move to Ewood Park.

Silva is a former Portugal under 21 skipper and is seen by Rovers as an ideal foil for Danny Murphy in central midfield.
