Tugay, Sherwood.

Though only here for a short while, Gordon Cowans was awesome - in fact, masterful in the 7-1 drubbing of Norwich!

Tugay and Barry Hole. I remember Hole scoring a screamer just at the start of the second half at Nobend.

Unsung heros were Nicky Marker and Super Atco. Whilst not the most gifted, would always put in a good shift wherever they were asked to play

Sherwood always seemed to have more time than anyone else when he got the ball. Pure class. Tugay was in a league of his own though.

Is QUEGs a real fans school though?

Isn't it posh? I mean not working class like a real Blackburn fan would be.

For me Hass it would have to be;

1 Tugay
2 Gordon Cowens
3 Tim Sherwood/D Batty
4 Billy Mckinley
5 Flitcroft

And because he was more or less in midfield when he floated a peach of a ball into the path of Shearer for his wonderful goal against manure as Smch'cal was left looking like a puppet on a string, flailing arms and legs, and which Ferguson, insisted, would have saved the attempt had he not had a niggling injury goes to:

Stuart Ripley :)

Arte et labore

I'm very sketchy over midfield !

Ronnie Clayton and, when not playing on the wing, Bryan Douglas. Going back a bit further Eddie Quigley who also played a major part in Douglas'development. More recently, Sherwood, Batty, Tugay and at one stage Dunn looked like being in that group

Memories both good and bad and we've certainly had our share of bad ones. That's why it took us so long to get up the divisions from our lowest ebb. But overall the good outweighed the bad. But it is a short list....Tugay, Sherwood, at the top of that list.

When the great Gordon Lee was managing it was Graham Oates who did a good job for us and I think Tony Parkes.
Ken knighton, Mick McGrath, Terry Garbut,

from the fories Alec Venters .the fifties Crossan and NIghtingale; Eddie Quigley Ron Clayton. Of course Dougie was easliy the best I have watch when he moved inside and Gordon Cowans was instrumental in getting us promoted with Dalglish. All in all a very difficult question i think my answer might be different each time I was asked. I will sit back and watch all the other choices with interest.

TUGAY and DOUGLAS.
.
Tugay is my favourite player of all time (on his day lol!)
.
Douglas was the master provider for Pickering, McEvoy and Byrom.
.
Mike Ferguson once told me that Dougies performance when we won 8-2 at WHU, Boxing Day 1963, was the greatest display he had ever seen from a player. Standing ovation from the Hammers fans if I recall.

Stuart Metcalfe, never forgot the own goal he scored on one of the rare occasions Rovers made it to TV. Beautiful 30 yard back pass to the Goal Keeper, over his head & rippled down the back of the net. Meccy's motto: "yer left leg's fer standin' on & play the way yer facin' son". Brilliant Bloke! Happy memories at Fenny when he was Manager

Ardiles if only he had played more games, wasn't it nicky marker that took him out too? Batty, Tugay, Atkins always dependable. Scott Sellers playing through the middle. Anyone recall Tony Finnegans screamer against the singles? Lousy player have to say.

But my vote = TUGAY & Dunn, (when his hamstrings were working)

parkinsonc says...
9:05am Thu 5 Jul 12

Tugay, Sherwood, Dunn. Thought there would be more votes for Dunny but recent unhappy seasons have tarnished his reputation I think. Tugay was a class above them all though - easily as good as Pirlo who they've all been gushing over at Euro 2012.

TrueBlue87 says...

Tugay - The most impressive footballer i have seen at ewood... in a class of his own!

Flitcroft - Never say die, heart on sleeve kind of guy. Absolute warrior and great captain.

the final countdown says...

Clayton and Douglas (when not playing on the wing) from the 60s.

From more recent times Tugay, with a special mention to Mark Atkins, transformed from league 1 full back, to championship winning midfielder.

As mentioned above, Mark Atkins came a long way!

Before he became Super Atko, he was once having a bad game, when a guy - the only Asian loud enough and brave enough - shouted at the top of his voice, "Not to him, he's useless."

Atkins looked over and carried on - having a bad game.

But credit the man, he was awesome during the Champs. Season!!

whittleblue says...

When Tim Sherwood arrived we were pushing for promotion and he looked a spare part until he was playing in the premier league interesting how some players can hack it in either the premier league and the championship and others cant.

Kevin Arnott now that was a good shout always seemed to have far more time than anyone else.

Mark Atkins converted from full back and probably the least likely player to have a premiership winners medal

Hard to argue against Tugay. How we could do with him now but then the numpty would have frozen him out because of his age.
