Rovers in race for Portuguese duo
9:30am Friday 29th June 2012 in Football
Exclusive By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
BLACKBURN Rovers are winning the race to sign a Portuguese midfield duo as they look to add to Danny Murphy’s summer arrival.
Combative central midfielder Adrien Silva, 23, of Sporting Lisbon, and Portugal under 20 international Fabio Nunes, 19, are understood to be close to sealing a switch to Ewood Park.
Rovers are also understood to be on track to sign Newcastle United’s Leon Best after further talks yesterday, with last season’s top scorer Yakubu understood to have agreed a £1million move to Chinese club Guangzhou R&F.
Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday were desperate to land Silva, who is free to leave Lisbon, but it is understood they are now resigned to losing out to Rovers.
Silva spent last season on loan at Maccabi Haifa and then Academica de Coimbra. The French-born midfielder is a former Portugal under 21 skipper and has featured for Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League.
Silva, who trained at Chelsea as a 15-year-old for a spell, is an energetic box-to-box midfielder.
Nunes, 19, is a tricky left winger, who spent last season playing on loan for Parma’s development team after joining from Portuguese club Portimonese.
Rovers’ teenage centre back Ryan Edwards could join League Two side Rochdale on loan next week.

Has Steve Kean been disciplined for the Youtube incident yet? Has anyone followed it up? LMA comments?
All the LT should do is interview these new members of PNE staff and ask them one question. "What is the timescale on sacking Steve Kean" print the answer in normal english and dont print anything else. If they say nothing print that they said nothing. Its all anyone wants to know....

Bloody typical rovers fans..... Why not start to think positive. The reason we went down last year is because we werent good enough. Bringing in young new talent should be getting us excited. But yet the first thing people say is We will never go up... yeah well we definitely wont go up with that kind of attitude! Just get behind the team, whether Kean stays or goes. I would guess come the end of July squad wise we will be no better off than now.
The appointment of backroom staff who at best could be descroibed as mediocre does not impress me.
Venkey's need to get real and sack Kean before they have any chance of moving the club forward.
I will not be renewing my season ticket until that happens.

Let's see if you've still got the same positive attitude when all of these 'great' new signings are being frozen out, have 'career threatening injuries' or it costs to much in wages to play them.
Do you seriously believe that all of the lies and deceit is going to stop over the course of a summer? If i'm proven wrong and Venkys with Kean have made a complete u turn, i'll apologise and bow to your superior knowledge.
Until i see the club being run as it should be and i see rovers going out giving 100% to win every single game, I will not believe a single word that comes out of ewood park. Winning mentality must start with the manager and throwing games like they did at cardiff and spurs is just not acceptable. None of us deserve to be lied to nor do we deserve to make 4 or 500 mile round trips to watch a match that the management has little or no intention of winning.
Football fans really do have short memories. How anybody can simply overlook the array of lies that have been sold to us since the takeover, is beyond me.

for example, it doesn't confirm that we are guaranteed to lose players X,Y and Z. it doesn't confirm that these players must be clinically insane. it doesn't confirm that they must be being paid trillions of pounds per second to come here. it doesn't confirm that they are good, bad or indifferent.
equally, it doesn't confirm that we have now turned the corner, that venky's have seen the light, that kean should be reprieved, that he is the kind of manager that can attract decent talent etc etc blah blah blah.
however, the news is at least interesting and for that is most welcome. long may the interest continue
and personally, if i wasn't interested in anything rovers until kean had been removed from his position at the club, i'd take a break from message boards until i heard that very piece of news... just a thought, as i know others will obviously have their own opinions and are perfectly welcome to point them out... again and again and again... zzzzzzzzzzzz

Expect the exodus of seasons last players once these potential new players come in.
I believe most have been told they cannot leave until replacements have joined ?
I would normally be excited over this although we are losing players as is per usual. The down side, unfortunately, is that the 'Odious One' will still be issuing his words of wisdom, and no doubt creating riffs within the camp as the season progresses !
I just wish to see the good ship Ewood on a steady course and I will be happy for our club.

Please please please Venkys, give Bunn a chance in goal now that Robinson is leaving.
A flourish of activity sure to get the juices flowing !
I still have 'non aucune confiance' in this guys ability sadly !
These storms over in the valley are quite apt at the moment !
Bonne journee monsieur :)

Road Runner Road Runner wrote:Merci RR always nice to hear from you.... I see Robbo is off to Besiktas in Turkey. From one club in meltdown to another it seems. The Turkish club have debts of over 200 million Euros and are banned from Europe this season. Surely if he wanted away then he could have waited and gone somewhere in the Prem? Seems desperation to leave is the prime driver. And tax free cash of course. Bon Soiree RR.

those two would be excellent signings. Along with Best, Gosling and the experience of Murphy that's not bad at all.

On a positive note, the Portuguese word for "cones" is "cones", and not "cojones" (cohones) which is Spanish for what he talks a lot of.
More gems from the Sage of Soccer "If it wasn't for relegation we'd still be in the Premier League"
My prediction: Venkys won't bump Kean until after season ticket prices have gone up - ching ching.

I for one, am excited if we can land these two players, along with best and gosling and then one in defence and i think we can look forward to this season. Not keep on moaning...
What next? Sustained applause for football's longest-running slow-motion car crash?
Pyramid and Ponzi schemes thrive on such gullible suckers.

Come on lads only about 10 days left to join the queue for Season tickets.
Don't let the Venky's down. Get down there now. Think of all the new players they will be able to buy with your hard earned money.
The fans are already salivating at the thought of seeing all these exciting new players that are preparing to take us to the dizzy heights of promotion back to the PL. It is going to be a tuely awesome season, the like of which we havenn't seen for years. Come Christmas we will be leaving all the other teams standing. They will be trailing in our wake.

I believe if we actually make all these signings the fans might get behind the Venkeys who now seem to have seen the light in many ways except the essential replacing of Mr Kean.
If they replace Kean and get all these players I believe the fans will come flocking back I sure would if that happened.
