Rovers confirm Silvester appointment

BLACKBURN Rovers have confirmed the appointment of Ian Silvester as club secretary.

Silvester, 49, has enjoyed similar roles at Leicester City, Leeds United and Liverpool and arrives at Ewood Park with a good track record.

He said: "I'm delighted to be joining a club with such a huge tradition and history.

"I've been made to feel very welcome and I'm looking forard to working with everyone.

"The club boasts a superb stadium and magnificent training facilities at Brockhall, so with the support of all concerned hopefully we can get back into the Premier League at the first attempt."

Former secretary Anthony Bloch was dismissed after less than a year in the job.

After holding crisis talks with under fire boss Steve Kean in India last week, Rao said no decision had yet been made on the manager’s future.

He admitted “various things” were still being discussed about the future of the club and suggested it could take a month before things were made any clearer"

Well we are still waiting . Roll on Saturday which is the 1 month you asked for - and so we will get the big announcement on our manager - We know it will come because you never lie to us , nor ignore us ,or hide away thousands of miles away or even turn the media against us

Glad I did not fall for the Early Bird trick of getting you to part with your cash 2.5 months early . Better set my alarm to get down early on Saturday Morning to join the others who are renewing - not

How good of Rovers to extend their thanks and best wishes to Mr Bloch for his efforts during his short time at the club. Suppose an explanation or reason for his sacking is too much to ask for?

So Venkys are really confused. So much so that they have fired the deputy CEO and secretary and have made the programme writer the 'general manager' and Shebby Singh will come to the table with his extensive knowledge of second tier English football. It would make more sense to appoint Jeff Stelling than Singh. I suppose it's hunts fault that rovers were relegated. Meanwhile our untouchable 'manager' is away spending OUR clubs money having a 5 star holiday without a care in the world for the redundancies he is responsible for. Notice how Go Ahead Eagles have announced a friendly against us pre season. Give it two weeks and Rovers might let us know about that match. Ipswich won't believe their luck when they play this bunch of imbeciles and crooks on the first game of the season.

It will not be a one man boycott either, there will be thousands of former season ticket holders (like me) who have the sense to realise that attending matches at Ewood gives succour to the current regime. Empty stands will provide a stronger message than any yet sent and will produce much faster results, one way or another.

Get your tickets in Lads, be men, be real supporters.
Dont listen to the One-man Boycott on this forum. He doesn't go anyway.

Get real mate, we are a championship club, Bilic will have his sights set much higher than us.

Obviously you live in the same fantasy land as Kean who thinks its only 1%, there are thousands of us who are going to boycott and they are REAL supporters.
You need to get up to date with the facts you lot, Slavan Bilic took the Lokamotiv Moscow job before the Euros even started...

Welcome to Ewood (AKA Hell) to our new secretary Mr. Ian Silvester...all the info on the new guy is very positive. In his last job at Liverpool he apparently did a very professional job for a number of years and he is well respected by fellow football administration people.

He was actually ousted at Liverpool by someone he employed (sounds familiar?) but Liverpool 'new' secretary's regime then went and handled the Suarez incident so messily that the club had to apologize to the world over the mess that was created.

Maybe having a well respected and very experienced (European and Prem experience with Liverpool) Club Secretary can make some difference to the running of our club?

Could it just be that Venkys are starting to put a proper structure back in place within the club with the sole intention of making it more saleable?

Are we actually seeing the first green shoots of hope emerging? Shoots that can grow quickly and sweep "Kean the weed" away.....? Not sure where our Shebby fits into that theory though? Unless he will be the 'asia-known face' that will oversee the sale?

We can only hope and pray that changes are on the way....but welcome to Ian anyways.

Look it up yourself, and whilst you are at it check the spelling. PyrrHic. It will not be a one man boycott either, there will be thousands of former season ticket holders (like me) who have the sense to realise that attending matches at Ewood gives succour to the current regime. Empty stands will provide a stronger message than any yet sent and will produce much faster results, one way or another.
A victory with such a devastating cost it carries the implication another such victory will ultimately lead to defeat.

Someone who wins a "Pyrrhic victory" has been victorious in some way; however, the heavy toll and/or the detrimental consequences negates any sense of achievement or profit.

There is, therefore, no reason to celebrate.

The phrase is named after King Pyrrhus of Epirus, whose army suffered irreplaceable casualties in defeating the Romans at Heraclea in 280 BC and Asculum in 279 BC during the Pyrrhic War.

Copy and paste - 'tis a wonderful thing!
