Blackburn Rovers are right for me – Diouf

MAME Biram Diouf says he knows already that he has made the right decision by joining Blackburn Rovers – and he insists his priority is doing well at Ewood rather than proving himself to Sir Alex Ferguson.

Diouf signed for Rovers on a season-long loan from Manchester United in early August and has proved a big hit at Ewood after scoring four goals in his last two games.

The pacy 22-year-old notched a hat-trick against Norwich City in the Carling Cup before finding the net again in the Premier League clash against Arsenal.

The Senegalese forward is likely to be in the starting line-up once more when Rovers return to league action at Manchester City on Saturday.

As with his strike against potential title contenders Arsenal, a goal at Eastlands would prove popular with his parent club United.

Ultimately Diouf’s long-term goal is to force himself into contention at Old Trafford, having made only six substitute appearances last season after joining from Norwegian side Molde, but right now he says he is only concerned with doing well for Rovers.

“Being here at Blackburn been quite good for me,” said Diouf.

“I’m just trying to enjoy it as much as I can.

“I have made the right decision coming here.

“It was a good thing for me to come here because the only thing I wanted to play games, so as long as I’m playing it’s good.

“For me it’s not about getting attention from United now. It’s about working hard for the team I’m playing for.

“Now I’m playing for Blackburn so I have to give my best here.

“I will be focused on Blackburn now and we will see after.”
