Blackburn Rovers are right for me – Diouf

MAME Biram Diouf says he knows already that he has made the right decision by joining Blackburn Rovers – and he insists his priority is doing well at Ewood rather than proving himself to Sir Alex Ferguson.

Diouf signed for Rovers on a season-long loan from Manchester United in early August and has proved a big hit at Ewood after scoring four goals in his last two games.

The pacy 22-year-old notched a hat-trick against Norwich City in the Carling Cup before finding the net again in the Premier League clash against Arsenal.

The Senegalese forward is likely to be in the starting line-up once more when Rovers return to league action at Manchester City on Saturday.

As with his strike against potential title contenders Arsenal, a goal at Eastlands would prove popular with his parent club United.

Ultimately Diouf’s long-term goal is to force himself into contention at Old Trafford, having made only six substitute appearances last season after joining from Norwegian side Molde, but right now he says he is only concerned with doing well for Rovers.

“Being here at Blackburn been quite good for me,” said Diouf.

“I’m just trying to enjoy it as much as I can.

“I have made the right decision coming here.

“It was a good thing for me to come here because the only thing I wanted to play games, so as long as I’m playing it’s good.

“For me it’s not about getting attention from United now. It’s about working hard for the team I’m playing for.

“Now I’m playing for Blackburn so I have to give my best here.

“I will be focused on Blackburn now and we will see after.”

Keep up the good work. There aren't many better training facilities to ply your trade than Brockhall and the surrounding countryside.

“Blackburn Rovers are right for me – Diouf”
Diouf - A well known Lancashire surname to be sure? Pity there are no home based footballers prepared to kick a ball around a field any more. You could park any football team anywhere and not notice the difference. The only difference is who pays them and just like Blackburn’s politician Jack Straw, they don’t even live in Blackburn!
So ever so pleased Diouf, that so many loyal supporters are prepared to give away their hard earned money for someone who can‘t keep his job elsewhere. What a complete farce football has become!

What drugs are you on??

Very few players in the EPL play for their local team.

Personally I am just happy he is a Rovers player and he is clever enough to know he has to work hard.

...come to think of it, this applies at all levels - very few semi-pro players are actually from the town that they play for!
In fact, a few years ago, I used to play for Darwen Catholic Club, in the Darwen League, but I only ever went in there once a year. I wasn't a Catholic either!

I just some people want to have any reason to change things into a racial discussion. We have Dunn, Jones that are both local lads playing for us which is more that a lot of clubs up and down the country

I think Mame Diouf and Morten Gamst Pedersen is a brilliant combination which will result in a lot of goals.
