The new, improved atmosphere at The Chorley Group Victory Park Stadium will set the scene for another battle as Garry Flitcroft’s Magpies take on AFC Fylde on Saturday.
Flitty’s boys went into the Prescot match last night as leaders of the Evo-Stik First Division North, with a game in hand, having been odd team out at the weekend.
Then next Tuesday, Chorley will take their increasing army of travelling fans to Clitheroe’s Shawbridge, where ex-Magpies Chris Smalley, Mark Jackson and Ashley Parillon have already made an impact this season.
Plenty of action is guaranteed as Chorley bid to extend their 100 per cent league away record, having crushed Curzon Ashton 6-2 two weeks ago.
Manager Flitcroft, who has said all along that the task of trying to bring success back to Victory Park wasn’t going to be easy, said in last night’s match programme: “Our league form has been great and it's a credit to the lads, their attitude and work rate.
“To have 500 on against Woodley and then nearly 800 against Radcliffe is superb.
The lads have been buzzing about it, but when I assembled my squad, I told them all about the potential of Chorley FC.
“I believe we have players in the team with flair that fans want to come and watch. Team spirit at the club is very good and the lads are a brilliant bunch to work with. We have a strong squad and my job is to try to keep them all happy!
“It's a long season with plenty of games and they will all get their chance.
“I thought we were awesome in the second half against Radcliffe and on chances created, we could have won the match by seven or eight goals.
“We must keep this going and make our ground a fortress.
"The place got freshened up and it has made a big difference.”
