Blackburn Rovers and Burnley Premier League podcast week 31

Will Burnley beat the Premier League drop? Starting with this weekend's trip to Wigan, the Telegraph sports team examine the remaining eight games for the Clarets and work out if they will get to the magic 36 points to survive.

And our team also discuss Blackburn's clash against high-flying Chelsea, and ask: Are Drogba and co really that good?

Sports Editor Paul Plunkett is joined by Suzanne Geldard, Andy Cryer and Chris Flanagan.

There is no mmagic target. It all depends how the other clubs do. Less than this may be enough. I think its looking bleak cos home games are a tough local derby and 3 teams battling for the final Champions League spot. Away games at fellow strugglers will be equally tough.
If we lose at Wigan and then lose/ draw v Blackburn and other teams pick up points our local rivals could effectively relegate us.

The reason itscome to this is total imncompetence by Kilby and Flood.
They should go with all the c**p players in thre Summer.

A good honest assessment Ossy Claret and that’s the most probable outcome. I’m sure Burnley will throw everything but the kitchen sink at Rovers next Sunday but it still won’t be enough. Just hope the Burnley fans don’t start throwing things again! It just proves the point that “any team” (not just Burnley) can come up into the premier league from the championship and hope to survive with the same bunch of players. You have to spend some money on a few quality players to give yourself half a chance. Steven Fletcher was a good buy and he’s probably been your best player this season but he’s a bit light weight and can’t do it on his own. Nugent’s a Championship player and out of his depth. The rest have battled hard but in this league that won’t win you enough football matches. Burnley 1 Rovers 3 next week.
