Blackburn Rovers snub Fulham interest in Andrews

BLACKBURN Rovers have told Fulham that midfielder Keith Andrews is not available after the London club made an approach.

Contrary to reports, no official bid was received by Rovers for the Republic of Ireland international but an enquiry was made by the Cottagers.

However, the approach was met with a refusal to even enter into negotiations by Ewood Park officials.

It's a deal! No doubt all these people saying 'Andrews was a success lay off him' pipe down. We avoided relegation, now it's time to move on and upwards. Andrews is a very poor footballer, the only benefit of having him was the simple fact that he was fit unlike dunn/reid etc, but he is a headless chicken and absolutely clueless. Thanks for the efforts Keith, now move him on.

Have to agree with that.Fair dues to him for being there last season when we needed him. However i think he spent too much of his career in the lower leagues and it comes to show in his gameplay. Its a case of you cant teach an old dog new tricks i think at this stage of his career.Anyhow i don't think he'll feature as much once Dunn, reid, grella are fit.Depending on the bid he's easily replacible.

I'd quite happily have chubby Andy Reid over Andrews. That Andy Reid and Dunn could compare boobie sizes too?

I'd actaully be obliged to want to keep him as cover but agree that he's poor at this level. Game passes him by far too much. He "did a job" last season but, in my opinion, should not be a first choicer at centre-mid.

Agreed, it's a simple case of - no-one is knocking his work and commitment last season, but ultimately he is a v.poor footballer. Given how apparently tight finances are at Ewood, I'd sell him for 2million, get him off the wage bill and re-invest it elsewhere.

I'm backing Andrews. Fulham want him and Rovers don't want to let him go. That's not because he's rubbish is it? Is anyone telling me Roy Hodgson, Sam Allardyce and Paul Ince don't know a decent player when they see one? Did anyone see the lad's glorious deep crossfield ball in the last match of the season (I think it was to Diouf)? Wonderful stuff.

MJ Rover, Blackburn says...

I'm another who supported him last year and I think that he should stay. Last year he was getting used to playing in the Premier League and so we should see even better from him this year - especially as we'll hopefully have a more successful team. I would keep him over Dunn and Reid - at least he's fit enough to play.

As for Kenwyne Jones - no thanks. Done little at Sunderland and isn't the 'big name' player we need to replace Santa Cruz.

I have to go with the support for Andrews here. To easy to jump on him considering our season was sheeeet.

Far to easy to pick him out & for most part I would say it was because he came through Ince.

I dont think Trappettini etc see K.Andrews as a rubbish footballer, but fans are differant.

Ripleywonder I see your point as to 'Headless Chicken', but this is just his style.

He was never going to be the skillful footballer, but he does have some sweet passes & a eye an for goal. His honesty shone out for me, when if he had chosen to, he could have hidden & maybe we would not have survived the season without his contribution & I feel the club are now repaying his commitment with this statement.
Many, many plus points come with K.Andrews.

That said the old adage 'every player as a price' does play a part here. If SA feels that good coin is available for Andrews & a better player(with the same commitment) is available then I can see a deal being done?

I wish to see K.Andrews leave on the best possible terms if this is to be the case & I'm sure BRFC will wish this to.

In today's game this sort of commitment is becoming less & less & I for one salute K.Andrews for his & hope that he remains at BRFC & improves year on year with us rather than another rival from the Prem.

I hope he remains & contributes to waht should be a successful team this season, then we will see a differant K.Andrews because he did come from a promoted side to then be struggling in a team along with a baptism of fire in the Prem !!

Two simple reasons why most dislike/hate Andrews & nothing to do with his footballing abilities :-

1) Paul Ince connection

2) Came from a lower league

Most might think Paul Ince hadn’t a clue about football management so what excuse can you make for B F Sam , Wroy Hogson, and GioTrapattoni rating him-oh I forget most of you think your professional football managers! Please give the lad a chance this season you might be pleasantly surprised!!

I only wish for K.Andrews to be given the credit he deserves. Not the most fantastic of players in the broader context, but certainly not worthy of the critisim given out, I dont think !!

I would just hope that he goes with good memory's rather than bad.

Yep, I agree all players have a price & if SA can better than that what we have then all well & good, but KA will come good year on year.

My concern is the fitness off Dunny,Reid & Grella for 09/10? :( They need to stay fit or we could be in the dog house should KA leave & we find no replacement, unless of course 'The new Viera' gets to grips like real quick.....

I do like the 'Roy Hodgson - Kevin Davies moment' qoute

how are fulham a more succesfull premiership club ????
Maybe because they finished higher in the premiership last season, are in Europe next season, have bigger average crowds, spend more money on players. Its not rocket science.

Are people saying we should sell Andrews under the illusion that Reid, Dunn and Grella are all gonna be playing 30 plus games next season? Because they wont.

I HATED IT WHEN HE CAME...but in all honesty his four goals and headless box to box running kept us in the premiership.his division one championship records were awful but his commitment and desire to run outshone the class of many others undedicated for the cause.I have to appologise and hold my hat down he is better than was made out to be.a bit like sherwood..I think playing alongside the likes of TUGS has improved his simple passing game as he holds the ball a bit more than when he first came on for us..he can only improve with our support
