BLACKBURN Rovers midfielder Johann Vogel is heading for the Ewood Park exit door after being told he is free to find another club.

The Swiss international, 31, has become surplus to requirements under new boss Paul Ince despite the current injury problems Rovers have in the middle of the park.

With David Dunn and Steven Reid both long-term injuries, Ince has preferred to use Stephen Warnock and Keith Andrews in central midfield.

And with £4million man Vince Grella returning to full fitness, Vogel seems to be way down the pecking order.

Chairman John Williams admits the club wouldn’t stand in his way should the former AC Milan star be able to find another club.

He said: “Realistically, Johann’s first team opportunities appear to be limited and we’ve told his connections that he is free to explore other possibilities ahead of the January transfer window.

“Should he be able to find another club, I’m sure a deal could be done to suit all parties.”

Stephen Firth, Vogel’s representative of Bonetin Football Services, told the Lancashire Telegraph that a number of clubs across Europe were keeping tabs on his situation He said: “He’d love to stay. He’s bought a house. He has almost 100 caps and was the Swiss international captain when he came here.

“His commitment to Blackburn is 100 per cent and remains so. He’d love to be playing but Paul Ince doesn’t want to play him so he may have to move on.

“He just doesn’t feature in Paul Ince’s plans but you’d have to ask him about that.

“John Williams is someone I have a good understanding with and he has said he will be as helpful as possible.”

He added: “We’re still working on it. We’ve had interest from a couple of clubs in Europe.”

Vogel was drafted in by former manager Mark Hughes in March to shore up his midfield, on a deal until 2010.

The former Grasshoppers, PSV Eindhoven and Real Betis man has made just six appearances for Rovers but has yet to feature this season.

Meanwhile, Mr Williams said that the club would run the rule over a number of trialists before the January transfer window opens.

They have casted their on Liverpool’s Swedish midfielder Astrit Adjarevic and Egyptian Ahmed Al-Muhammadi.

But Mr Williams added: “We will have a number of trialists coming in over the next couple of months.”

paul ince is a CHARLIE who believes players who sat on the bench and watched him acheive nothing LIKE Andrews can be better than world class players like VOGEL..he wont be able to say I played for Inter if Vogel is about..NOW he will shout that he played for Inter and shout Zamorano's name..

These things just happen. Not every player works out. Good luck in the future Vogel

Thought the guy showed promise I for one would like to have see him play rather than Warnock. Sorry guys but Warnock is not the ball winning creative midfiled we need to unlock defensives so should never be ahead of the like of Vogel for a centre midfield position. Warnock is a steady safe option for cover but his one foot style doesn't make him a first choice midfielder

I can't believe he's being released. I thought vogel had some quality! The guy was dedicated to Rovers! He didn't even get to start a game this season.
Hope you get a good club Vogel.
GOOD LUCK!!

If we are all honest we didn't actually see a lot of him, or his best as he was settling in towards the end of the season. However I do agree that everyone should have their chance to show what he can do at the start of a new season. Why ince doesn't fancy him we dont know. We dont know either whether Vogal has been pulling his weight in training. It is always the same for the last player signed by the previous manager, they are rarely fancied. With that all said I, like most wish him well elsewhere.

I thought he must be injured as he was so far off the radar. Weren't we supposed to be a footballing side - Vogel is more a footballer than several of Rovers midfield will ever be. I hope i am wrong ut I detect a touch of the Souness's era - you are either in or out!

I am shocked and disqusted we would even thinking about releasing players of vogals class.

Its things like this that really make me question if ince is the right man for us.

vogal is better than the axe and andrews.

not happy again

WHAT THE HELL IS INCE DOING?!!?

Vogel is relatively new at this club! And Ince isnt even giving him a chance??
Hes a fantastic player. A true worker!

Im seriously getting **** off with Ince, now. He is ruining this club.

WHY? ...seriously...why? This makes no sense at all. Why on earth would Ince release this player. Top class when fit...and when not fit probably as good as Andrews and Moko. Probably off pitch issues...remember he has a bad record regarding bust-ups with managers.

Release Ince instead of this guy!

What a joke!!! vogel should stay, he wants to stay why cant blind ince see whats good for the team?? hes streets better than andrews(shud sign for stanley) grella is poor, i havnt rated any of inces signings so far and i havnt wanted ince as manager from the off.. rather see the back of him than vogel, who apparently is being linked with bayern munich so cant be that bad....

Why cant people accept that for whatever reason the manager does not seem to rate Vogel. He sees him week in week out and must be allowed to make decisions such as this.

Why can't people realise that this manager is doing a pretty good job with very little resources and be more POSITIVE!

After all we are above Man City in the table and their manager has had more time and a heck of a lot more money to spend than Ince.

I have a feeling Vogel was the one who came out and said those things to the Mail before the season started. I can't imagine any other reason why Ince would completely exclude him in the way that he has.

either you have some one working at the mail, that has told you this,or your making shots in the dark.....either way those feelings, take 2 asprin go back to bed,.......to me its just mr ince that cannot see whats in front of him sometimes.....that includes gally...or was it gally talking to the mail.........

Grella is poor? He was man of the match yesterday in his frist full game! I don't think anyone can accuse Ince of not giving people a chance. There must be some reason why he's not impressed with Vogel.

One thing you cannot level at Ince is that he doesn't give people a chance. Already in 3 months he has given mre players a chance than Hughes did.

I love how people can call Ince 'blind'. He works with these guys day in, day out. If anyone knows if they are up to the job it would be him. Once again, people think that certain guys should or should not play based purely on their previous clubs.

Don't get me wrong, I was as surprised as anyone that Vogel didn't feature at all under Ince. Maybe Ince feels he isn't pulling his weight in training, or isn't fit enough and hasn't done enough to alter it. We probably won't find out.

As for Gallagher - bed and breakfast man - let it go! He's had more chances than anyone to prove he is Prem class. He's been given numerous loans to Championship clubs and has done nothing. He is eating up valuable wages, so it is in his and our best interests to move him on. Same with Vogel if he isn't going to feature. Sad, but that's the way it's got to be.
